I did my first video on Da Vinci Resolve yesterday. It was a drone video where I added narration and music. Had some trouble with mono and stereo settings but eventually got it done. Thanks foe the great video as always. If I would have seen it before, it would have save me time.

Hey Curtis, thank you. Where do the recordings end up on disk? I remember having issues with that a while back…

In the project database, but you can export them as WAV files to wherever you’d like.

I'm wondering if, given something like a 2-cam, 4-mic podcast- you can somehow use resolve to handle a rodecaster's four mic inputs and then use an ATEM Mini Pro ISO to handle the camera angles.. Could you save a BUNCH of assembly time by sending the stereo mix-down from the rodecaster to the atem's TRRS in as a 'sync track' to have in it's pre- built assembly timeline. That would allow you to then take the multitrack audio recording you've captured in resolve and just waveform sync them to the mixdown track in the atem's timeline? (if that makes sense) Ideally, the ATEM could have four separate audio inputs so you could just go direct in with dynamic mics. But I think that would be a whole new product. Even something like a software integration more directly with resolve so you could use those rodecaster inputs as part of the ATEM's assembly build.

I haven’t tried it, but seems like it should work.

Awesome quick overview. What method do you use to avoid hearing an echo when monitoring your recording?
@curtisjudd6 ай бұрын
That’s mainly down to the audio interface and the speed, latency of the computer and USB bus. Some interfaces have a direct monitoring feature which is probably the best way to address the issue.

It's a cool method and I didn't know this was possible. However, I still recommend recording into Audacity or some DAW if you're going to do waveform manipulations. I edit out all mouth clicks and even de-ess very loud S sounds manually. For more advanced manipulations, Davinci Resolve is a bit lacking. Again, not saying this method is bad, but rather you've got to choose the method most suitable for the type of project.

I round trip to RX to do cleanup. But using a waveform editor is good too. Whatever fits your workflow best.

Great video. Very helpful. Thank you! 🤗 For a very long time I plan to stop using Adobe tools for my podcast-I record audio, edit it in Audition, and then create in Premiere an audiogram video to upload clips from the episode to social networks and KZbin. Looks like Da Vinci really could become the all-in-one tool for podcasters to both record audio and then create video to share to social networks. Is there something similar in DaVinci to Premiere in creating an audiogram?

DaVinci Resolve can do it!

Judging from what I’ve seen here, would it be possible to connect the RodeCaster Pro II and record all the different inputs by targeting them to different audio tracks? Kind of like in Audition.

hi can i record audio directly from my system as an input? for example, if im watching a youtube video i can record that video's audio?

That requires more software. Audio Hijack Pro on Mac is one example.

Hi Curtis, as always great to bump into your videos. I was wondering if do you know if we can record at 32bit audio files in DaVinci Resolve using a Zoom F3 as an audio interface? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, cheers!
@curtisjudd6 ай бұрын
I haven’t tried, but I know that Resolve can handle 32-bit float audio.

However, I cannot bring any kind of F3 output working with Davinci. System Audio of my Macbook recognizes the F3 well, I can record with voice memo, but when everything is patched in Davinci, it shows no signal at all. Is there a hidden setting in the F3 I forgot?

Is your computer audio set to 100% or 50%? I have an audio interface, but I want to know what my system sound settings should be.

On a Mac here. The input level is disabled in the OS and the audio interface controls input level.

Can you recommend a mic which i can directly connect to a camera via trs 3.5mm jack . use case senario indoor dialogue in an untreated room. currently using rode micro overhead of the talent but getting a lot of echo.. can you recommend a few mics that i should look at.
@curtisjudd5 ай бұрын
Mmm, the things that will help more than a different mic, in my experience are 1) get the mic closer, if possible and 2) place blankets over large flat surfaces including floor, desk, or walls - whatever is not in the frame.
