My Dad bought Time Lifes 'The Swing Era' box-sets when they came out. One red and the other yellow, inside you get 3 LP's, a hard-back book with a history of the bands and the songs and a 12 inch square booklet. I have them now and they still sound great.

Thanks for your comment on my video about Eva-Tone Soundsheets. Ironically, I worked for a small company right out of high school repairing those LOC talking book machines that you speak of here. I was the quality control guy for refurbishing the machines under a government contract.

Nice collection! The Library of Congress used these Eva-Tone records for production of talking books for the blind. The records were double-sided 9" disc with a Braille label on one side and a print label on the other side. These disc were used from the late '60's until the end of 2000 and most played at 8 rpm and were playable only on LOC issued talking book record players. The LOC used flexible disc because they were cheap, light weight, and didn't take up as much room as regular records.

I had the "birthday" song too. Just one problem. My friend couldn't find "Larry" as the name song. So what name did he get me? "Laurie" (35 years of therapy still hasn't helped.) The Eva-Tone sheets were actually roughly 5 cents each to produce, which was why they were so popular.......

To be super pedantic It's pronounced EVAH not eeeevah tone, the few I have include a self promotion for the sheets themselves with comedians Dick and Bert , and they repeatedly say, and even sing it at one point, as evah, perhaps as in 'they last forever'- tone sound sheets Love the vids, cheers

Oh, you mean you install a game from a record? Like, you connect the sound output of a record player to the console?

And the Billy And The Boingers disc was included in the book “Billy And The Boingers Bootleg”, the cover of which was a cop of Springsteen’s “Live 1975-1985” box set.

Nice collection, but there was one that it was missing from your collection is another contest record about the "McDonald's Menu Song" from 1988 where you can sing-along for a million dollars. I remember the "McDonald's Menu Song" when I was young and nobody has won a million dollars which was a dumb move for McDonald's at that time.

MTN Productions don't forget the "Super Spectacular Day" flexirecord from Mad magazines. It has eight different endings depending on where the needle ends up in.

The "Billy and the Boingers" record was from Bloom County. The group is made up of characters from the comics - Bill the Cat, Opus the Penguin... (I can't remember all their names).
