@@steelearmstrong9616OK, maybe when they’re in the midst of their addiction your observation has some validity. For anyone to even come to recovery, attempting to deal with the whole mess is an achievement. Most people don’t get it the first (hundred) times they attempt to get clean and sober. On their road to recovery some are Intermittent Relapsers. Research over decades confirms this observation. The important reality is they keep getting up and trying. Some will die, some will live. Let’s celebrate those who continue to attempt despite the barriers and challenges recovery brings. Regards and best wishes to all who are attempting to overcome their addiction. *YOU MATTER TOO.*

I used to think seeking happiness was selfish and a ridiculous goal... and when I became happy in 2021... I realized I was right... happiness isn't the goal... its the glorious first step! Once you achieve happiness... you get up and start doing the things you never thought you could. Finding happiness is not selfish, its not the end goal... its the first step...

I started with the "make your bed each morning" thing. It led to losing >200lbs and beating a pharma addiction. I used to think of self care as something selfish. And I'm happy to have been so wrong about the notion. 🙏

Just as a devils advocate....you could also look at it that “doing things you never thought you could” would bring you happiness. So the exact other way around. Lol I think it’s different for each person, depending on their personality and disposition. Some people have energy, but no focus. Some have focus but lack the energy to accomplish what they want. But overall, I think you nailed part of it in that “doing things you never thought you could” usually involves pushing yourself and doing something that’s “uncomfortable” or that you’re not familiar with. That’s the true answer. Becoming uncomfortable and challenging yourself is what leads to the ability to grow, change, and ultimately within that is happiness, or at least those acts begets happiness

He said 30 days is not a long time, but it absolutely is. 24 hours alone feels like an eternity to someone who used to use every few hours. It's important to always acknowledge the success of an addict regardless of how long it's been because I promise you, it takes everything to stay sober whether it's one day, 30 days, 30 years.

I so agree about not learning to self-love in our childhood. In my family that was considered to be arrogant. It took me until 47 after divorcing my husband. A friend told me to look in the mirror and tell myself “I love you” 75 times a few times a week. It felt so awkward but eventually it began to work. So happy, Antoinette, that you didn’t have to wait until 47 to learn this. Keep telling yourself in the mirror that you love yourself, especially when things get tough.

Pretty amazing what only 30 days can do.. not that she wasn't good looking before, but now she looks really great. Beautiful woman. Don't know if it's really the truth or if it only looks like it to me, but lately quite a few people seem to have turned their lives around for the better after speaking to you. This is probably the most important YT channel of all out there and it really shows that the core and the major reason for the misery so many people experience in life is in one way or another often directly liked to their childhoods (and all the various types of horrible abuse and/or neglect so many children have to survive) Great work as as ways Mark, literally life-changing even, and I hope Antoinette gets to live a life of happiness that she certainly deserves. And as much as I appreciate hosts like Joe Rogan and his type of (often very successful) guests, I've realised that one can learn just as much, if not sometimes even more from the people at the very opposite side of society. I have to say thanks also for introducing me to Orion the psychologist, so much interesting stuff on his channel too! Sincere thanks, All the best/ F

Proud of 2 years sober on the 23rd of March this year and let me tell you it’s been work feeling my emotions and feelings because addiction is a complex thing that high jacks the brain and then when off of it long enough and remember you chemically off balance and it’s individual you have to figure out why you were using in the first place and feel whatever it is don’t do it alone and just because you visited that feeling or emotion doesn’t mean it’ll go away sober time is beautiful but it’s also irrelevant this is a life long journey I like to look at it as a beautiful ugly thing beautiful because I get to and experience what non addicts don’t do and ugly because I get to lol if that makes sense it’s a catch 22 but I truly love being sober today
