The best additional advice to this is answer this question: What region do you most frequent? Your personal answer should then help dictate which is the best location to buy the moonshine business in. For me it was Bayou Nwa as I am forever gravitating to rhodes for easy collectables, less player traffic with ease of access to most shops. versus Valentine or Blackwater which have a higher player traffic compared to Rhodes for me. I also sold my first batch and I didn't have to go very far at all. However the wagon is stupidly fragile for such a short journey.

When I wanted to start it (just to get the $ 50,- back) it glitched and stayed in loading so I had to restart...for the second time. 2 out of 4 deliveries had this. Probably Rockstar don't want that people grind so again they put in some glitches..

I think Bayou Nua is the best here is why: It is in between Saint Denis and Rhodes and here you can infinitely go in between the two very close Cities having everything in each city. So while you’re brewing you can farm bounty for gold because it isn’t good for much else. Also the rarer plants are close to Lagras so you’re right there next to it. Also for the trader just hunt crocs, and hogs is an infinite supply and right next to the moonshine shack in Bayou Noa. However the issue is the collector since it is far from most parts of the map.

I did different. Mines is in bayou right outside Rhodes. And my camps north scarlett meadow just below emerald station and the ranch. Rhodes yields the most collector goods and has regular hunting in boldger glade. Just far enough apart I can focus on the individual task. But I'll probably give up shining once I hit 20 unless it becomes more profitable . I'm level 7 already and dont it all and not made any decent money even driving safe n slow. And the pass isnt all that impressive. I would like explosive ammo, dynamite arrows, stuff like that. But we got herbs, basic ammo, free vouchers for fast travel and moral increases lol...

Not to mention, outside of the bugged runs, I make BANK off of high quality shine + selling to the right buyers. 200-250 profit per run, and its easier than local trade delivers. Plus I can do them while cripps churns supplies at camp.

It's a shame you can't own a moonshine shack in Roanoke Ridge as A) There's plenty of seemingly abandoned shacks in the area and B) when you think of moonshiners, the stereotypical image is 'hillbillies' in the Appalachians which is where Roanoke Ridge is based on.

The property’s only cost $250 each after you bought one for gold so instead of choosing to buy 1 buy all of them so your moonshiner business is easily accessible from every where on the map, also having one in new Austin is good because if you join a free roam mission it will mostly take place in new Austin, when it ends you will be able to go to the moonshine shack in new Austin instead of having to ride to or take Time to fast travel to the one you got in the heartlands or tall trees.

Well I'm level 7. Spent about half day playing. I've already done all the story missions for moonshiner. Now I love these. Tons of NPCs, even standard difficulty is hard. I go through hundreds of rounds of ammo. They're all good. The basic missions are ok but they are failing alot. I may get 1 out of 4 to work. The band was kinda lame. Unless you wanna dance like austin powers. They only play when u start them. The newer upgrade stills take longer. So each moonshine runs 1 to 2 hours. And it doesnt fill when your offline. I just didnt seem to make any money. Its been 55 and 185 depending on flavor and strength and max level is at 10 level moonshiner and will take even longer, but you'll get more money and care more. So in all honesty as I've done all of it. The story is I believe 7 story missions they're good if you got time and want a challange. But the actual selling doesnt make u hardly any money. And the basic missions are extremely repetative if they even work. So all in all I'll get to 20 but I'm not thinking I'll be an active shiner once I hit 20. The new outlaw pass honestly is garbage! Free herbs, and basic ammo? Who cares. Now if we got dynamite arrows, explosive bullets and stuff like that I'd be more happy. 3 horse masks and they're way in toward end. A new horse and saddle basically turkoman level at top. Not arabian. So in conclusion it was nice to have something new to do. But its repetative and boring. And worse doesnt make u money. If I put 6 hours into collecting I'd have thousands of dollars in loot. Instead I couldn't hardly cover some new gloves. Bandoliers, a tin hanging off belt and some upgrades to my shack. Oh n a naval gun. Still prefer volcanic. The shotgun variant is cool I guess I don't use it. So if your not started yet dont sweat it. Your not missing anything. You'll need around 60 gold for outlaw pass 2 and shack. Then gold for bandoliers and upgrades if u want. And around 2500 loot. 275 for naval gun and I think was like 1500 to build the expansion and the dance floor with band. Not necessary at all. And you dont get any loot or xp based on expanding the bar or adding band. So 60 gold and say 5000 loot and you can get the basics of everything. But like I said the pass isnt impressive at all and after the story mode its dull. Waiting for missions and shine to brew. So enjoy and replay the story missions for the fun and carry on whatever else u were doing. I didnt have any camp disappearing so seems fixed. But as stated the basic missions failed alot! And the collector item locations appeared to have changed also. I dunno if they added another 1 or 2 changes to the schedule or replaced them completely well find out over next few days. Btw I hit level 7 shiner and 25 outlaw pass 2. It's not hard at all. Took me about 7 hours total.

Think about driving a cart when you pick a shack. Windy sharp turns is your enemy. You get attacked quite a bit so you’ll be driving, stopping, turning and shooting. I picked Heartlands and I like having Emerald Ranch and Valentine nearby.

People, If you do the Bootlegger missions you lower the price you pay for the mash. Also, when you buy a new Condenser upgrade you will get waaaaay more money and clients (fills the bar). Its all about progress. I thought it was a bad business until i leveled it up and understood how it works. Im level 7 in the role now

So there’s a bug where you’re not able to sell your moonshine goods and a lot of people, including myself are experiencing it. Rockstar should really fix this as soon as possible and while they’re at it, give everyone in game money for the people who could’ve made money off of this, idk exactly how much though. And for the people that never sold any of the moonshine goods, they could just receive the money because there are stuff that are expensive in this game.

in terms of lore, I like Tall Trees and Bayou ..... maybe Tall Trees first as you lay low and then post-story missions you move back into the bayou thing that's bugging me with Hennigan (or would with Grizzlies) is that it seems weird to have such a populated bar in the middle of nowhere -- I've liked it so far to start off with, to help Maggie and Marcel 'lay low' -- and with NO bar it's a good hidden distillery. But I think I'm going to set up my actual speakeasy (bar) at Tall Trees since it kinda makes a lot more sense there with its proximity to the Manzanita (plus it's annoying to go start production because after you FT there, you gotta ride all the way back to Armadillo unless you get lucky with the 2 nearby camp spawns that almost never spawn for me -- always get camps up by the ranch instead.)

If you haven't found out yet, you have to be level 5 in trader then you have to go to the cutscene by Emerald Ranch. After the cutscene you open the Unteraction Menu - Camp & Properties - Moonshine Shack - Choose Shack Location

You can reduce the cost of moonshine mash from $30 to $10 increasing your profit by doing 2 missions of Maggie before you decided to produce moonshine. I'm not sure how much cost decrease when you choose 45 or 60 minutes production but one thing for sure you will get more profit from doing this two mission

I also went with Tall Trees. Big problem is maneuvering all the wood and sharp turns in that area getting to/ from your shack. I’m currently quite confused about “How” moonshine is made. I had all the ingredients and requested Marcel to start a batch. But when I leave and come back I have no moonshine currently cooking and none completed. Would love a walk through of that.

In a recent update there's been the option to remove it, simply put you can equip and UNEQUIP it at any wardrobe. You will still be able to dual wield guns with only the one holster. Equipping it is purely for looks.

When you complete those missions the price of "mash" goes down. When you start out it costs like 60 dollars to buy Mash, and at the lowest level you only get 75 dollars for a delivery, so only a profit of 15 dollars. Completeing missions lowers the price with about 10 or 15 dollars it seems. So more profit is becasilly the usefullness of it. And they are kinda fun as well :p

Honestly, I set up in the Grizzlies because I set my camp in Big Valley a lot of the time, and that seclusion actually pays off, less traffic on deliveries and less threat of hostile players being way out there in the middle of nowhere!
