I've never moved from the Great Plains/Blackwater ever since I've first traveled there from my starting place of New Austin. I just think the environment of the area fits the old western style the most & the town is much more pleasant to traverse in compared to the wet, dirty &/or congested settlements of Strawberry, Valentine & Saint Denis. The moonshine shack in the adjacent Tall Trees is just a cherry on top of a great, relaxing place.

Big Valley will always be my favourite. It's amazing for the trader role because you can stock up on material easily within an hour, there's spawns for cougar, bears, wolves, and even moose nearby. Other perks: Gus and Harriet are nearby, Strawberry and the stable are nearby. Plus, tons of herbs and craftables materials. I also find the other players that tend to hang out in Strawberry and Big Valley are chill and not likely to grief you for no reason. Most of them are just hunting and vibing and happy to greet you and hang out or go on by. New Austin and Bayou Nwa I can't go an hour without getting griefed.

Big Valley has some of the best hunting in the game. That moonshine location isn't bad if you know what you're doing either. There are 2 rocks to avoid, and only 1 one per route because they're directly up and down the road from the cabin. The one down the road is right after you cross under the railroad tracks, on your left (northern one is by the stream). All but one delivery location is down the road, so you'll get familiar spotting the rock quickly, and it's right at the start of your journey so you can dodge it and go back to auto travelling. You can also avoid or defeat the roadblocks with ease here. There are 4 locations for roadblocks, one is up the road on the rare northern route and one directly down the road from the cabin. I suggest just going through those ones. The other two are by far the most common. At the bottom of the hill, if there isn't a roadblock, there will be one to your left just across the waterfall or one by the train station off to your right. Park over by the waterfall and you can just snipe the buggers before crossing if it's to your left. If it's to your right (and it must be if the path says to go right) _just go straight._ The road will take you right past the block and you'll even avoid going across the train tracks. I never see many people up there, probably because those rocks spoiled the reputation of an otherwise great shack location. It's the best spot if you don't wan't to be bothered while you're hunting or grinding, and there's more whitetail, pronghorn, and elk up there than you can shake a stick at.

I agree 10000%. Grizzlies is by far my favorite location for the shack for all the reasons you said, and I've never had a problem with the roads or losing bottles. No griefers to deal with, almost all of the deliveries are insanely close, the roadblocks are easy to handle as you said, and often can be avoided. And most people think it's too hard to get to it, because if you just look at the routes the map/gps give you, it SEEMS hard to get to, but there are so many ways in and out of there, and some very sneaky shortcuts that I'm convinced most players still don't know about. Let's put it this way: I can get from the shack to Valentine in roughly 40-45 seconds, and Valentine has just about everything you could ever need. You can also ride the train tracks down to Wallace station in like 20-30 seconds, and it has a post office, general store, wardrobe, and I THINK a bounty board (don't remember because that's the one role I play least lol). You can also get your camp set up right in front of your shack or behind it next to Cattail Pond, which is such an awesome area to hunt. I don't know, I hear almost nothing but negatives about that location, but it's my favorite after trying them all (though I do agree Tall Trees is awesome as well. Don't like Lagras just because I hate the area in general lol)

It's just hard to argue this is a bad spot because it's lacking in amenities or worse for grinding trader and moonshine.

You’ll see me at Great Plains cause blackwater is my favorite town and it’s close to moonshine in tall trees and it’s close to trapper in tall trees and half way close to naturalist in macfarlane's ranch so Great Plains is the place to grow cash at 😁

Great job as always cat. Its very impressive how you bring innovative and useful content even with the lack of updates from R*. My choice was always the tall trees + great plains, and actually there are two routes of moonshine you have to take care when auto piloting: Mcfarlane Ranch (a house corner in the end point) and the Cabin near the Strawberry stable, with a lot of tricky rocks on the way. i adore the bayou nwa. almost everything i need is there, i only have to occasionally leave to gather something from another part of the map, everything else is within a 2-3 minute ride, or right by fast travel. the entire area is one huge shortcut when not driving a wagon, and the roads are easy on wagons when you are. i love the camp just south of the moonshine shack, but the one right across the river from harriet can be convenient as well.

I love having my camp in Big Valley (though I do hate any spawns that aren't near Little Creek, which should not be considered Big Valley in my opinion). Easy to farm animals for trader or dailies; tons of plants; two moonshiner spawns and hideout spawn at Hanging Dog Ranch, and as you say it's just super gorgeous. Also the easiest trader deliveries ever: 3 minutes to Wallace Station and never any griefers because none of them care about that area of the map.

Great Plains is the one for me, it also has close access to Tall Trees which is also good hunting. 4 cougar spawns within a easily rideable radius from camp. Legendary cougar, boar and buck spawns. Duck and boar to the east and pheasant all over for animal fat. Lots of good herbs to be found with mint just north of the river. Plenty of collectables. Regular hideouts, moonshine activities etc, Sean McGuire, easy resupplies, the list goes on.

I use the bayou for both moonshine and camp. Pretty much as you say for moonshine but for the camp I find it excellent for big game and 3 star gator skins, medium animals (birds), small animals (frogs and toads) all of which frequently pop up in the daily requirements

My number one pick that works well for me is The great plains for camp, great place for hunting, and tall trees for moonshine. I really like the hunting in the heartlands as well, never had my moonshine over there tho cause of the delivery routes. I also like the bayou for moonshine and hunting too, easy delivery routes and plenty of gators to farm.

Scarlet Meadows camp ( on the hill next to the railroad) + moonshine shack in Bayou. You are close to the shack, tons of deer, Rhodes for bounties in downtime. That is the best combo.

I honestly think that camp in northern Big Valley, by Hanging Dog Ranch, is the best place for your camp. Pronghorn and deer are everywhere! Bayou is best spot for moonshine. I think the best combo spot is in the bayou as well, but hunting goes way down. Daily challenges are made easier in Lagras though. There are collector items everywhere, deadly skins for trader, loot items from enemy is done by skinning a gator, and then you donate gator teeth for trader to get 20 items donated. I don’t like the scenery in NWA, but I think it’s the best.

I have to say that Great Plains + Tall Trees camp & Moonshine shack has been by far my favorite place to be for SO long. I used to use Heartlands for both but even though Emerald and Valentine were close I hated the Van Horn moonshine delivery because it almost always was 19/20 delivered and that's like 25% of profit gone. Honestly if Blackwater had a gun store I don't think anyone would be anywhere else but unfortunately the only gun stores are across a fucking lake, a livestock town that borders the mountains, & a small, slowly deconstructing and falling apart joke of a town at the edge of the western frontier. Rockstar got me paying $5 every time I want to go somewhere with a gun store

I place both (camp and shack) in the swamps, you can farm 5 perfect alligator skins (or even those medium alligator carcasses) really fast and stock them in the hunt wagon...to me is the perfect place to play trader and moonshiner roles at once.

I like Bayou Nwa because its a classic place for moonshine from a story mode but I hate swamps because of alligators. But Tall Trees is more familiar to me. I like those big trees and that northetn nature. Just beautifull. I hope we will be once able to buy some nice tiny warm shack in these locations

I pick an area until I can recognize the camp location when I first log on. Grizzlies is my next area to explore. Since I live in the desert that'll probably be the last area of exploration. Moonshine will either be Tall Trees or Bayou, depending on player activities.

Pro tip: if you put your moonshine shack in heartlands, put your camp in Cumberland forest. It usually puts your camp closer to the moonshine shack and its a decent place for farming trader and heartlands bison is still close by. I dont like putting my camp in heartlands because when I did there was always tryhards 1v1ing everyday(it gets worse the closer you are to emerald). Plus griefers know heartlands is a popular camp/trader location.

Great Plains and Tall Trees are my home turf. It’s also really fun to snipe griefers in the Great Plains unless they’re some mod menu using hom-, then just block, report then change sessions.

Bayou Nwa and Tall trees are undefeated. I always rotate between those two. But with my camp sometimes I'll camp in Roanoke Ridge if I'm feeling bored from camping super close to my shack. But in terms of solitary camps I enjoy camping in Great plains and Big Valley then Heartlands. Once in a blue moon I'll go to that lake spot in New Austin, the one good scenery in the desert area but it's so hard to get that specific camp, coz the game often gives you the shitty camps in the road where you have nothing but Cactus and train tracks around you 😂... Ideal is swamp for moonshine and the lavender fields of big valley for camp. If you take the trail north of the large encampment at the lavender fields until you pass where there is snow and then form your camp, 9 out of 10 times it will place it along the creek in the valley. Then after your goods are full, move your camp to gaptooth ridge to perform the delivery. There is less chance of attack down there and sometimes the long distance delivery is fairly short.

I love that camp in Big Valley but that spot near Bard's Crossing bridge where Dakota and Upper Montana river end. It's very close to Blackwater. I like this location as it has few very nice spots for deer very nearby. It's quite lazy but most efficient hunting spot as I don't even have to go far from the camp to fill my Cripps very quickly as there are 2-3 mostly 3 star deer locations just outside or very near to the camp. I've had my Moonshiner shack near Emerald Station until now but I just moved it to Bayu Nwa after watching your video. Want to try it out and maye Tall Trees as well. Great content, Cat!

There is a point in Roanoke Ridge, near Emerald Station that is awesome to get materials for trader. There's a place in north of Kamassa River that is pretty good too. I think that every regions have good and bad places to collect materials and i really don't care if the moonshine shack is near or not since i have the nature camp fast travel. By the way, your videos are fantastic, i love them.

I started with my Moonshine Shack in The Grizzlies because I love the area and it's remote. But I found myself placing my camp in Great Plains all the time so switched to Tall Trees. Best decision ever!!

I'll share my little camp secret here. The best place to set up camp if you are working on Cripps is the northernmost waterfall in Roanoke Ridge north of Brandywine drop. Here you have 4 cougar , 3 Whitetail Buck, 3 Moose, and the Legendary Knight moose spawn points. If you are making Trading deliveries solo then your best spot to set up camp is in Gaptooth Ridge. Fewer players around this area to snag your wagon.

for camp i prefer the heartlands but if its taken up by other players usually my camp ends up in braithwaite manor and my favorite moonshine shack is near little creek river because its closer to animal woman but i can see why some people choose lagras because gators are there and alls you need is a shotgun and no players around the area and you got all you can eat big minty game meat (you can get wild mint on the islands besides rhodes if you dont have any).

If we're talking solely about hunting I recommend Bayou Nwa lots of gators and turtles to be found, Scarlett Meadows has a lot of consistent deer spawns, Rio Bravo and most of the New Austin camps have consistent pronghorn spawns, and a truly underrated spot for you big game hunters out there is the Brandywine Drop camp in Roanoke Ridge because a lot of Rocky Mountain Elk spawn there you can also occasionally find Moose, Cougars, and Black Bears as well.

I live in Tall Trees. Moonshine + camp. A lot of legendary animals, collectibles for Nazar, collectible flowers for crafting and daily objectives, Blackwater is nearby and I just got used to this place.

I prefer my camp in Scarlett Meadows because its close to the Bayou Moonshine Shack BUT it has much better hunting IMO: the weather is nicer, so its easier to see, lots of open flat ground with a lot of deer for carcasses and critters for small grabs, and Rhodes is nearby for most of your stockpiling needs (and if you need more specialty services you're still not too far from Saint Denis).

Loading in I noticed if you have other people already in your spot you've chosen it'll put you in a spot near where you normally spawn. But yesterday I had the best spawn points ever. I had both in new Hanover but moonshack was above the o in Hanover and my camp was right below the o. And the emerald station right between so if I need to order supplies I could from the catalog and run right to the post office

Camp in Little Creek area of Big Valley, mainly because, as you say Cat, it is so beautiful up there. Have fast travel from camp/wilderness camp so lack of fast travel point not an issue. Moonshine shack in the Grizzlies. Mainly as it's close to where I camp and know the roads/tracks so deliveries are not a problem.

I put camp and shack in tall trees. If you have wilderness camp as soon as you step outside the shack you can set up fast travel. Also there are tons of animals in the area.

Best camp location is Tall Trees, in the forest. Moose, Grizzly, Buck/Deer, Sheep/Ram, Cougar, Elk, it's all there (check behind lake too). For me it's much better than just hunting deer in Hertlands over and over again. Great forest atmosphere as well.

For me it is Tall Trees Moonshine Shack, Great Plains Camp, I like the Bounties in this area and I also like Thieves Landing Fence close by. The Deliveries for Moonshine and Trader are super easy. Personally the best yield for camp for me was Heartlands. So sometimes I move my camp there since the post near the tall trees moonshine shack does have fast travel so really with Tall Trees Moonshine you can set your camp anywhere you like.

If you have your shack in lemoyne you can get a camp set up like 7 seconds away if you put your camp in bayou nwa. But that’s only if that camp location isn’t already being occupied.

I almost always place camp in the bayou. Main reasons for that: daily challenge for small carcasses donated to Cripps and there are frogs everywhere. Plus if you have a daily to donate perfect carcasses, you can just shoot herons, spoonbills or pelicans and even if they’re 2 star, they count as perfect and those birds are usually flying overhead as soon as I spawn into camp. Lagras is the best moonshine location and Tall Trees is next. I haven’t tried anywhere else but have considered it just for something different. O and bayou is great for gators and if you have a daily to loot collectibles from enemies, just kill gators and when you skin them, it counts as a looted collectible for some reason.

Tall Trees best Moonshine Shack location imho. Good roads, quick trips, most trips end near fast travel, and all of the roadblocks are safe, and easy to run through (one can be ignored). I like Hennigans Stead for a camp location mainly because it is not popular and the camp stays put. It has good hunting, a fast travel at McFarlane's Ranch (if you don't have post in camp), good access to fence, Harriet and Gus.

I have my camp in great plains i first started my role as trader and great plains are full of 3star prongh and WTdeer that really boost the trader materials. 2nd role was bounty and u can just grab the posters off blackwater. 3rd role i just started was moonshiner and its in tall trees i like that it's close to my camp

Hennigan's Stead. Camp in Cholla Springs. They are relatively close to to each other, plus the riding back and forth allows me to snag animals along the way and keep my materials topped up! Plus, aesthetically, it's very reminiscent of the classic Old West.

For me the best place for my camp and moonshine shack is in Heartland's close to emerald station, I can find bisons and the legendary tatanka bison also, there's always deers, pronghorns, ducks, and I can get materials from the emerald ranch and most of the moonshiner deliveries are close also.

Camp in Heartlands, Shack in the bayou. Easy. Make a quick delivery, go back and restart mash. Have a beverage. Then, go outside and fast travel from wilderness camp without even riding 15 seconds to to Lagras. Btw, when you get the deliveries to the Saint Denis bars - don’t even bother stopping for the revenue men. Mob thru like a boss and go about your business- they won’t catch ya.

Hennigan’s Stead is super slept on. I like it because: 1. The deliveries aren’t that long. They’re mostly short in my experience. Sometimes they are long. 2. Rarely anyone nearby 3. You can have your camp literally walking distance from it. 4. If you have wilderness camp it’s really good. 5. The desert is plain, less chance of your horse falling anywhere or running up a mountain out of nowhere. 6. The desert is plain and there isn’t any trees, making it easier to snipe or shoot incoming target. (Which is much better for people who free aim).

Bayou nwa so far so good, also for camping, super easy to hunting 3 star gator, like open buffet hotel restaurant, and close to 2 county rhodes and saint dennis, for selling moonshine and trader carts.

I like the Bayou for hunting, as long as I get Bluewater Marsh or Shady Belle. Perfect small gators give you 8 materials. Perfect spoonbill and muskrats give you 5. Also all the other birds that are around. It soon stacks up. Plus plenty of big game meat and teeth from skinning the large gators. So it is not just good for the legendaries.

i agree.if you want to spawn your camp in the bayou go to van horn then spawn camp in bayou ..most of the time it will put you at copperhead landing or near the woman that wants a ride to the tower.....sometimes it puts the camp behind the black belle house also.bayou is the best for hunting ive killed over 80k animals in this game

Delivering to the shack from Bayou NWA moonshine shack is a bit tough, because of the bumps in the roads leading to it. Other than that it’s a really good location. I have my camp in the Heartlands and I hunt the old fashioned way, for deer and all and after I fast travel to my moonshine shack in Bayou NWA.

I would say that if you have fast travel unlocked in both your wilderness camp and regular camp the best place for moonshine is heartlands and the best camp site is in the valley by the creek cause you can fill up your hunting wagon in just one fast run in less than 10 minutes with 3 star deer or does, I don't like great Plains cause in full servers bisons are always 1 star and it's harder for other species to spawn, but it's no doubt the second best spot if you get the spot near the word PLAINS in the map.

On the Van Horn run, after the creek, you go right, but it prompts you to go left next. Instead take another right and you will miss the railroad tracks altogether. :)

I very rarely break bottles when doing deliveries from Hennigan's Stead, just because the roads are relatively flat and smooth. Bayou Nwa is probably the best, you just can't use autopilot because the roads have a lot of traffic and deliveries in Saint Denis will probably make you lose 1-2 bottles from dodging carriages and winding around corners.

i like the swamp the best, got to lvl 20 trader just by shooting gators, herons and spoonbills. they are everywhere and no danger of falling off cliffs if you go off roading. plus gators give big game meat

camp in gaptooth ridge and shack in hennigans stead. Just love new austin because I love RDR1 so much, and I dont really do trader unless i have spare pelts and/or legendary pelts that I come across while bounty hunting/collecting etc

I placed my Moonshine shack at Nwa, and the Camp in Heartlands, really close to the shack. So it's easier to do the deliveries and hunting as well.

Little creek in big valley...right next to harriet is a gold mine for traders...2 min supply goods missions and 3 stars everywhere. My moonshine shack is in the Bayou...

I always set my camp in big valley, fill it with legendary animals, then sell from Gaptooth ridge as you can get a MacFarlane ranch sale

I used to have the Bayou shack but there were so many piece of trash griefers who would camp there and blow up moonshine as soon as someone started a sale. I had enough of that and switched to Hennigan’s Stead. Good thing about that is no one is ever over there.

Honestly I keep my moonshine shack at Heartlands and my camp at an underrated spot in my opinion. Roanoke Ridge. Rarely any bad encounters, in my opinion the most beautiful place in rdr2, great atmosphere and a gus. I dont care about Harriet but there is one in the bayou. If I wanna do a bounty, there is annesburg. And the shack and the camp is always close.

Tall tree's is the best location For many reasons But if you do have all upgrades for the moonshine shack. The only tip that matters is Berry cobbler All the ingredients for this recipe are available in the catalog. And they're cheap. But most importantly, you always have a buyer. Setting up your moonshine in the swamp is risky. The area often has low level player's. And they will atrack your wagon If you adverage out the time wasted by having to dash board to save your moonshine wagon after its attacked It simply isnt worth risking that location.

I prefer bayou nwa over tall trees for the shack because tall trees is actually the shack that was in the flashback in blood is thicker than shine so yeah it would feel weird to do shining there

I've been putting my camp down the street from the shack. Both in Tall Trees. There are f-tons of wolves, bear, elk, deer, and even moose in those woods. The Plains are mostly grass, no?

Hey Cat, I found a glitch to remove gunbelt in Online. For this you have to get in jail, with the option to stay for ever, and then join a friend in another session. You will appear with no gulbelt but you can use you weapons. If you enter a shop the belt will appear. Can you find any way to save this glitch?

If you don’t have the naturalist role GP is a fantastic spot due to the mountain lion spawns. If you get your camp on the west side of the plains by you can run to the east entrance to beechers Hope and as long as there aren’t to many players near by you will always find a mountain lion. A few times I even got 2. Without constant Legendary animals it’s one of the best spots to grind. Even with the naturalist role there is almost always the mission for the ruddy moose which the mission ends near the west side of GP anyway.
