You're gorgeous and your eyes are absolutely beautiful! You're video was very informative and extremely helpful. I am going for the same color as I had a nightmare with feria and ended up with hot pink roots. I had to color correct with a dark brown red mixture and it never ended up being the color I wanted. I wanted to go back to my red but my stylist always told me to do a brown base with red so she suggested allspice in wella. Again, not the color I wanted. This is the video I'm taking to Sally tomorrow! Thank you so much!!!

+Denise Pscolka Thank you Denise. I am glad that you found it informative ;)) I am more of a red red now..and like it even more, still mixing some of the base color in with the red and it works great no hot roots..lol Right now I am using the ION 6RV with the ION light brown, I forget the numbers and I am at my moms house setting..my sister is in the hospital..but I find that if I use the neutral base in the light brown vs the dark blonde I get about a week more gray coverage...look at a recent video and see if you like it red red..also I ad an intense red for the length of my hair, I just mix that with the 6rv and 10 volume developer I use 20 volume developer on my roots..i do that every 8 to 12 weeks, go on Amazon and get the TRESSA watercolors shampoo..I get crimson splash (cool red) if you want more of a warm red then they have others. Leave it on your hair for a couple minutes and you don't have to worry at all about the color fading on the ends and I also love the ION color sealant, it really works nicely..., Okay I hope that was helpful..if the red red is not for you it will work on any red colorant..Good luck keep me posted ;))) Hugs Trish xoxoxox

I had to watch this video quite a few times because it seemed confusing. I was having horrible hot roots and thankfully I found you're video. Wow I am so thankful for all your help! I am 90% happy with the way my roots turned out. I just have a few parts that are way darker, so I used 20 developer and 10 on my roots. I also went to beauty school' but didn't finish. lol. Maybe next time I'll feel comfortable using the protein filler. Thank you very much!!!

Thank you so much! My stylist that I've had 4 years gave me hot roots and sent me on my way. I am over 75% gray and my length is brunette/brown and now my roots are burgandy/reddish. In the sun they look slightly brassy/violet. I had 3 inches of regrowth. Im not sure what went wrong? Thank you for sharing this video. Im going to do this next time

Of all the haircolors you have had on your videos, THIS burgundy shade is the BEST ! It makes your eyes and skintone really pop!! Why did you stop dying it this color? I wish I could pull this color off! It is gorgeous!! ,

Hi Trish, I am not sure I understand why a neutral color grabs the roots more than the red. Is that the case with other colors, too?
@TrishOliverAll_Things_Trish8 жыл бұрын
+Ginger Tunstall Hi Sweetie, red molecules are so much bigger than any other...so for virgin gray hair they red will slide right off...for other colors not so much....Have a great Day !! Trish xoxoxo

I use boxed dye on my hair, have a lot of gray and recently found a color the I really like called mahogany red by Schwarzkopf but when I use it I get hot roots. I know you suggest to go to Sally's but I was wondering if you have any suggestions to use a boxed dye and not get the hot roots.
@TrishOliverAll_Things_Trish9 жыл бұрын
kathy mancuso Hi Kathy !! I would use something with a neutral in it..mix it with your color to do your roots and then just use your red on the rest of your hair....even the box colors let you know what the base is anymore so you should be okay with a neutral..nothing with golden though...;)) Trish xoxoxox
@kathymancuso27649 жыл бұрын
trish oliver Do you mean a neutral protein filler or another box dye? sorry if the question sounds dumb, but I don't want to do something to ruin my hair. My hair is pretty healthy considering I dye it every 4-6 weeks via box dye.

It was fun watching this bc I related to everything you said. My hair is auburn (lots of grey) & I prefer more of a copper tone than burgundy but I haven’t conquered hot roots. Any suggestions?

I also use medium tobacco brown on my hair but do get the hot roots--they are a lighter brown. What color from Sally's should I use to mix with it to make my roots match the rest of my hair?
@TrishOliverAll_Things_Trish8 жыл бұрын
+Dennis Pesicka I think I used the tobacco brown once and the same thing happened...Let me go look and see the base of it....brb...Okay so I even googled to find the base color..uggg That is the only thing I really don't like about this brand...they do T for the base color (tobacco) so the only thing that I would suggest is to get a 4n or 4nn to mix into it for the roots...do 1/2 an ounce of the 4nn 1oz of the tabacco mix with your developer and put it on your roots...then just the straight tabacco to freshen the lengths when you need it, if your hair is dry or thin do it as a conditioning cap ....Trish xoxoxo

trish oliver why would you suggest using a double 4N to her color formula without knowing what her virgin outgrowth color is to begin with?!? I also want to add that no one should use a high alkaline (permanent) color on the midlenths and ends. Put through with a demipermanent, that way they don't get drab/muddy.
@car17015 жыл бұрын
I just did this and it worked! Thanks so much! Medium tobacco brown and 4nn. 😊

Should I do clear protein filler or red protein filler to hair before coloring hair medium auburn red in wella color charm? When I add drops of red protein filler to developer should I then reapply to entire head or just non root area (mid section and ends)?
@TrishOliverAll_Things_Trish9 жыл бұрын
+Lynn Ormsbee I myself went with red protein filler, and yes I just used anything with the protein filler from mid to ends...I will tell you though with my experience the red too much with just keep making your red darker and darker..so proceed with caution as far as that goes ..hope this was helpful !!

You said if I had any questions to ask, ask them. So can you just come color my hair?? But yes I have hair done to my butt and I can't afford to pay someone to do koo t. It literally cost half of my house payment!!

Hi your video was very helpful, wondering I have 60% grey I color my hair dark red / violet ..should I mix. a light N brown or med N brown to do roots..I use l'oreal hi lift in magenta for rest of hair?
@TrishOliverAll_Things_Trish10 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, If it were me I would defiantly use a N Brown to mix in with the red...now depending on the base color and how dark you want it too be, and also what color your hair is now.... would determine to me if I used the light or the medium N Brown...hope this helps and good luck ;)))

I have watched your video its very informative and in depth. You explained very extensively . I need your advice on my hair colour and it doesn't cover my greys properly. I have 50 percent of greys my all front half is grey. Im in my late 30 I have stubborn greys colour resistant hairs. I have loreal professional colour 7.35. I done it once at salon It was fine. My greys covered too that time. But now since I'm applying my colour at home. I couldn't get my greys fully covered with this 7.35 ( blonde mohagany). My roots are lighter and its not that bad only I can see,that it's not one colour it's medium lighter tone from roots and mohagny colour on rest of length. What shall I do. Shall I add golden blond 7.3 in loreal professional or 7.1 lighter blonde. Please do advice me. I willbe waiting for your reply.

I really can’t tell you what to do especially since I can’t see your hair in person . It sounds like you might need a filler on your regrowth before you go in with your color. I hope that helped

Thank you for this video.Like you, my scalp tends to get oily, while my ends are dry from coloring. My hair is currently in a layered bob. I'm trying to achieve a dark chocolate brown. I'm a natural level 2 (darkest brown-soft black?), and at almost 36, my roots come in gray. My roots are VERY resistant to color. I'm thinking of using 1 oz of Wella 4NN with 1/2 oz of 3RV Black Cherry, just to give the tint of red-violet, while staying dark. Do you suggest I use the neutral protein filler, or the red protein filler?
@denisepscolka28758 жыл бұрын
I was a darker auburn. I don't really think I'm looking for a burgundy color right now with summer quickly approaching. Which color do you suggest?

Hi Trish, I have a dilemma. My hair like yours, I have a lot of gray and I have always colored my hair at home and of course, I always end up with "hot roots" but my brand of hair dye does not have a 5N/511 or 6N/611.It does have a 7N which is what I used. I did everything you said plus, I added a little extra "gray magic". I will let you know what happens. Geena G

Hi! Thank you! I have a great idea now of how to avoid hot roots. My hair is currently colored black. Natural color dark brown, and also approximately 75% gray roots. My goal is to have your color. Would this process work, or since it’s black would I need to do something else first?? Thank you!

this is very incorrect information. Never cross developer brands as they will change the hues of color from brand to another. This is why that sell the developers and colors from the same. please do your own homework.Thank you people
