One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard! Toumas out did himself with this song. And Floor....there aren't enough words to describe how beautiful she sang this beautiful song!

such an absolutely beautiful epic music composition with her voice as light and then it gets even lighter like light and soft as a pillow some quite radio friendly and Tuomas playing the piano with her voice so soothing

Tuomas Holopainen wrote it as a reflection upon his father’s passing in 2021. He reflects on how we have been blessed to have had lantern lights who have guided our lives and how we in turn should serve the same role for others. It is about our love for each other. The Welsh and Northern English word "wynde" means a narrow lane or alley between homes. Basically we walk that narrow alley between our ancestors and our descendants lighting the way between generations until we become the ancestors when we walk into the yesterwynde. Gone is the hurt, the wait, gone is the warmth of day. A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved, on into a velvety night, beneath a lanternlight. Last night brought the heaviest of snows melting the songs of old, tying the boat, write a new one soon, sending me to the drowning moon, far above a lanternlight. I'm in the light and flood, I'm in the four winds, I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems, I am the snow on your palm. I am the secret stream, moss beneath your feet, I am you who climbed off of my back not long ago, a sheltered song in a world now gone, petrichor, the timeless. Turn loose the swaying boat, meltwater, sound of spring. I hear our song now, sung by the free, for a thousand more tomorrows of an incomplete weave. To the meadows I go, I’ll be waiting for you once upon a lanternlight. I walk now toward the trees, I am the secret stream, the night falling at my feet into the forest of Yesterwynde.

Wow ...thanks, that was nice to know, makes sense what Tuomas wanted with the name of the album, narrow roads from the past...just my guess.

This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. I'm 73 and the last man standing in my family. I understand the loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. Her face, good Lord, her face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.

This song is written by Tuomas, as a ode to hes Father that passed away in 2021, Floor sings absolute beautiful on this, and Troy joining at end, perfect!! I lost my Father 6 years ago, and my mother 5 years ago, listening to this, will bring me memories of them, and a song of sadness, beauty and hope at same time, its a song i would consider a masterpiece, love it!!

Nothing is random with Nightwish. This is the last song on the album and in the Nightwish trilogy "Endless forms most beautiful" "Human nature" and "Yesterwynde" The cirkel is complete. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.

What a masterpiece ❣️ The keystone at the end of an incredible album! When you've been able to witness Floor at her solo shows (like I did😊) you're not surprised about this song and her singing. A similar quality of her singing you'll find with the cover Shallow at Beste Zangers show.

This was the conclusion, last song of the album. The song reflects on loss of a loved one. In this case Tuomas composed this with his father in mind who passed during the making of this album I believe.

Nightwish has a habit of going where you don't expect them to go. A beautiful ballad to end the album. 3rd music video, but now 4th single. Released last week was the lyric video for "An Ocean of Strange Islands". The entire album is now out too.

Great and emotional reaction! BTW please backup 5 seconds after every 🙏comment, that is more convenient to the armies ears. About (part of) the movie scenes in the background: I recognized pope Leo XIII (yes, I'm that old) and wiki is saying: "Leo XIII, who was born in 1810 and was thus 86 years old in 1896, is considered the earliest-born person ever to be captured on film. The images of him are well-known, and recently were enhanced and colorized on-line."
