I have seen squirrels suddenly stop which confuses the cats , when cats also stop the squirrel makes its escape , grey squirrels running across the street to a tree .

Nothing is speedier than a KZbin video of a surprised squirrel dodging an ambush by a rattlesnake. The snake was at the base of a tree stump, with the squirrel atop it. When the snake struck, the squirrel was already airborne and gone.

I must share my spoiled cats caught a baby grey squirrel and they all got in trouble and thankfully my grand daughter was able to help him across the road to his huge tree. I love my cats but that day…🤷🏻‍♀️😤

Is this cat declawed? I assume if there were foreclaws that the squirrel would be a fast food value meal. Wow, excellent documentary video.

Only declaw your cat if it's an indoor one! Outside they need their claws for defence. Always spay and neuter. Greetings from rural Norway! ❤ 💙

I live in Ireland and have 2 acres and 3 red squirrel nests. And that is not a red squirrel.

You are correct - it's an American Red Squirrel. Based on (inc. other videos from LOTB) the presence of grey, fox, and American red squirrels as well as white tailed deer and snow, it's likely somewhere in the north central US or south central Canada.

The American red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) and the European red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) are two distinct species of squirrels with notable differences in their physical characteristics. In Norway there is quite a difference in their winter coat (greyish brown) to their summer coat (reddish).

Funny that the red squirrel gets scared of the blue jay, yet approaches the cat (certain death) even after hearing the warnings from the other squirrel. So lucky that the cat was either playing or had no claws. Nature is unforgiving, don't gamble squirrel.
