Its funny cause if youve only every worn boots/workboots made overseas they tend not to last and get replaced every like 6 months to a year ... your real lucky if you can get a solid 2 years of wear ( in my experience) so the idea of spending a lot of money on boots seems like such a huge waste... but then you get a pair of redwing boots in hand and your instantly like yeah theses are like nothing else ive ever worn and are leaps and bounds beyond in quality vs. your typical off the shelf big box store boots... and once youve experience a domestic made boot youll simply never go back to buying the cheaply made overseas boots, but its tough to make that first transition into expensive boots but the value of them quickly comes apparent.

Im a union Ironworker here in the U.S. doing mainly structural steel and these Red Wings are an industry standard. These boots are built to last. They take everything you can dish out on them day after day and keep asking for more. The break in process on them is probably what us men would compare to child birth but once the day comes that you can honestly say they're broken in well.....again Im gonna reference what it would most likely feel like the moment your first child is born. And by that point these boots will honestly have earned a spot in your family with the amount of love you come to have for them. My boots are a part of me and the day they finally say enough is enough and cannot go any further will be a truly sad day. But luckily the replacement will have already been in my possession and waiting for its day in the spotlight to pick up where their fallen brother has come to an end. Red Wings........they really are that good!!!! The way a real boot should be made. No fancy this or shiny that. Just 100% pure quality! Take note China......try and reverse engineer that lol

How long is the break in? I see a lot of stylish guys reviewing these boots so I appreciate your review as I to will be working these boots daily in the rough
@kmb1 Жыл бұрын
This made me literally laugh out loud. And I agree! Not my first pair of Red Wings, but definitely the most brutal break-in. I'm 6 weeks in and they're just now relaxing after about 200 hours of wear time. Thanks for the laugh!
@bozdude626 Жыл бұрын
@@AdammJarvis they can take around 4 solid weeks of everyday wear. If you condition them and really work the leather then the process may be a little quicker but the beating your feet will endure will still be brutal. These boots will make you earn their loyalty. But if youre game enough to endure the boot camp of breaking them in then you will be rewarded with one of the finest pairs of footwear your feet have ever experienced,. Make sure you get a quality insole for your boots. Red wing makes a good one and timberland also makes a good one. Or even if you need a quick one a good Dr. Scholl's one will really help out. To condition your boots id suggest some good leather conditioning. I use this stuff called boot guard. You work it all over your boots into the stitching everywhere and then let it sit, After about an hour you then take a heat gun or lighter and simply warm the conditioned boot so the conditioner melts and liquifies soaking deep into the leather and stitching, boot guard not only condition your leather to soften it up it also adds a bit of water resistance to your boots,. doesn't water proof them totally but protects against water penetrating your leather, It makes the break in process a little more manageable but trust me these boots will hurt at first. Make sure your tie them up tight cause any foot play in the boot during break in will lead to instant blisters so you want your foot fitting securely so its not rubbing at all, thick double Carhart socks help. Good luck and hang in there its worth it

It was between these and the 875s for me. Ended up going with the 875 model, but this one is such a solid choice. I wasn't sure how I felt that it was on a different last and with the insole (not that I mind that extra goodness!), and I really got into the color of the 875s. What I really like about these ones is that the toe box is a bit sleeker and less upturned compared to the other models. Quite a different look to 'em. EDIT: I'm surprised that the break in was that tough for you, I actually had comfort straight out of the box with the 875s. Which I didn't expect, because my Iron Rangers were *incredibly* difficult to break in. And more surprisingly, my Made in England Docs were the toughest to break in due to it cutting up my heels. (With the Iron Rangers it was mostly about pressure points).

The foot beds that come with those are excellent I add them in all my Redwing MocToe boots. The footbeds will also get a more smooth feel to them after a couple weeks of walking in them and they will get better as time goes on. The only thing I would recommend is using Redwings leather cream on the 1907’s or they can become very dark almost like black blemishes on them and the less you clean those the better they keep that beautiful color. The leather milk might be worth trying in a spot you don’t see. I have those and the concrete rough & tough leather both great looking but both change a lot the copper looks the best when new & the concrete takes a little better patina than the copper.

I just snagged a 'barely used' pair of 1907's on eBay for 150.00. No tread wear and they came with the box. I put some mink oil on them to darken and soften the leather. These thing are crazy strong, it's no wonder why Norman Reedus is still wearing them 10 years after the zombie apocalypse started. The leather has very little give, so I also recommend getting them in your actual size unless you enjoy pain.

9.5 and you can always go with a slightly heavier sock to add comfort and make up any difference. Win/win.
@Freedom899842 жыл бұрын
Be aware that this Moc Toe is very unforgiving if you don’t have the exact right size. The 875, 8131 etc are molding to your feet within a month or two, but this one is not gonna do that. I am still struggling with my little toe after months of wear as I use custom made insoles. The leather is so thick and sturdy, it will kill your feet af you buy them too narrow. Strange enough the 8131 last fits me better as the boot is a tad bigger at the same size and the leather is more soft and thinner. So be aware and try to buy them at the physical store or send them back if you are in doubt if the size is correct. One of the main advantages of the 1907 is the wider footprint. You have a lot more stability off-road as the soles are wider and have more contact surface with the ground.

Looks great. congrats.I have been following your vids from the beginning. I have most all the same redwings as you.I think you will enjoy the extra touches to the 1907 like the welt plus the leather insert and laces which i wish more came with the longer laces. Thanks for sharing.P.S. They are a little more bulky but you will get used to it like any other shoe just a little different.Enjoy. looking forward to the future 6 month or less break in and 1 yr review etc.
