This song is well known in Germany! I was a teenager when it was released, think it was high in the charts. Redbone are great musicians and beautiful guys with heart and soul and energy 💖🦅💎🙏🎸🥁🎤. YT is a time machine and keeps this 50 years old precious music fresh and unforgettable 🙏💎💖.

I have a new level of respect for this band. Not just because I feel a kindredness with them, but they were brave enough to put their truth in their music at a time when I'm sure many people at their record label told them not to do this.

I remember having trouble with our history when I was in grade school. I asked my teacher why we said that Columbus discovered America when people already lived here. She said that the people in Europe didn't know it was here. I told her that the Indians knew it was here, because they lived here. Then the people from Europe came and said that they discovered it because they hadn't seen it before. I asked my teacher something along the lines of, "If I haven't seen somebody's house before, is it ok for me to say that I discovered it and take it away from them?" She didn't know what to say.

Saw Redbone when I was a young man, I have said this over and over...one of the best concerts I ever saw. I go by how moved I was by the music...theses guys moved me. At that time I was only listening to rock music.I went to a concert to see someone and Redbone was the opener. How good was it? I don't even remember who I went to see...but I remember seeing Redbone.

This song was Nr. 1 in my country! And I can still remember it! We,my family and me visited firends and their son had the whole album from Redbone! He put it on the player ... and I couldn't help listening all the time to the lyrics... thinking about it now,it musn't have been very nice that I didn't didn't talk back much to the son of our friends,haha...And to people who have problems listening to such lyric-statements? The truth is hard to take! It's more bad when we close our ears and eyes!

First time I've heard this,brilliant. I read the book Bury my heart at wounded knee. So I know what happened.The slaughter of innocent men(mainly older) woumen and children. Just one of the massacres perpetrated by the U S Army.

Why ban this from radio? Redbone were being really open about what REALLY HAPPENED at Wounded Knee. Many Native Americans lost their lives during that fateful event. Broadcasters should've thought twice before they made their decision to ban it. These guys were pouring out their feelings about it!

Obviously they didn't wanna get in trouble for letting the public know about true events. It's easier to control ignorant people than it is to control informed people. Many people still think that Indigenous people were fully wiped out of the US, or that these massacres weren't real.
@bryonbiondolillo65452 ай бұрын
There's your answer....but they laid this track down and here it still is. And they are dead right that we were all wounded by that (and our many other sins). That stuff impacts the soul of a nation. We have to grapple with it.

I never had understand why the Indians were put in reservates. And sometimes I'm ashamed to be born white. When I what white suprematics has done so much evil through the ages. I really respect the native Indians as the only and real American. Hopefully that ones their country belongs again to them all. Bless you from out of the netherlands

bearone7777 I Know dear, and don't worry I'm NOT insulted whatsoever. It's the simple TRUTH you say my friend. And My comment was BECAUSE all that happened, and in fact your Governement hasn't changed since THEN....I may be of "white skin" but I absolutely detest what they did to your people & STILL are doing. They still treat you like shit,pardon my words. I've watched a documentary made on the Pine Ridge Rez, and it was heartbreaking to hear an older lady say, how they live up there,how they get treated and what Government and others,do with their income.So disgraceful. And as she was crying, the tears ran down my face as well and felt like if I lived only closer, I'd put my arms around that lady. Anyway, THANK YOU,bearone7777, for your answer. And I always loved Redbone to this day. Btw, Pat Vegas, the singer, is here and on FB, if you're interested.He's still performing.Friendly greets to you & have a Great rest of the week.

I grew up listening to Redbone, They were great then and are great now. Our Federal Government should be ashamed of the past and present treatment of the only true Americans. They spoke of life and their history. How is that different then other groups of singers who sing about political subjects? They did not change their names to say look at me, I am now someone else due to my religion IE Cat Stevens is no longer that person, he became a muslin and changed his name. I am proud of being a fan

For more info about the Wounded Knee Massacre, please read Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee. It's probably the most heartbreaking and infuriating book I've ever read. HBO made a film of the book in 2007 but I've not seen it yet, so cannot comment as to it's informational value.

It made me aware of the native american's history, and the europeans' that went to "discover" the land of great opportunities. I'm so sorry that the white man did not have a notion of right and wrong and just slaughtered the beautiful people he came across.

My step dad served with the seventh calvary and airborne rangers during nam and he's part choctaw but said custer was a jackass and wounded knee was as big a disgraceful act as The trail of tears was he said he was proud to serve his country and he was prouder he was a medic and in charge with saving lives not end them.. a family tragedy sent him to germany at the army hospital instead of hanoi or someplace but he told me how if the nurses were busy the medics fill in and alot of local women were too poor to see a Dr to have their kids..my dad and about 200 more medics brought kids into the world..cause the hospital helped the locals so i guess my dad both being native and in the 7th calvary doing something honorable was an honor to memories of those who died but still a flip off to custer and his crappy treatment...two wrongs don't make a right we all lost and we all lost family..osiyo from Tx
