I honestly think that if you had the time and inclination, you could take all the Steven Seagal movies, put them through a video editor to strip apart every cut and scene, put them in a scrambler, and let a 90 minute movie come out with all the clips in random order, and you would have a movie indistinguishable from any of the actual releases.

Typically the buttstock is held tight into the shoulder (not the armpit) this give 4 points of contact (left hand, right hand, shoulder, and cheek). Holding the stock of a rifle (or shotgun) *above* the shoulder is called "short stocking", and is taught in the US and other militaries as a technique to be used in confined spaces. (eg kicking in doors and clearing buildings room by room) It can make going around corners easier and makes it harder for someone to grab the barrel of your weapon. It isn't super accurate, but at close distances can work ok. With weapons such as the AR15/M16/M4 platform it benefits from the low recoil of .223 rounds. There is *never* a reason to use this technique in the open, as Seagal was. (except to look cool... like holding your pistol sideways "gangsta style")
@RedEyeReviews2 жыл бұрын
This is a very well written explanation! I didn't know any of this but it makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for this and for proving that indeed Seagal just doesn't know what he is doing lol.
@Tekisasubakani2 жыл бұрын
All true, but there's no way in hell you are short stocking a drum fed shotgun on fully automatic [not sure but I think it is a USAS-12]...unless of course you are this meatball and immune to the effects of recoil.
@brotherjew12 жыл бұрын
I mean… technically there is a reason… but it’s laziness. Gripping by the mag well, and stock over the shoulder is… if you’re tired, out of shape and fat. So. There *is* a reason, and that reason is very Segal.

It's very strange considering that Seagal possesses the exact attributes that allow him to flatten that fort in less than 10 seconds (minus speed), and the prisoners all saw him before. 12:25 You are correct; the butt of the weapon should be firmly placed in the shoulder, for the following reasons: 1. is more stable, so way better accuracy, 2. recoil will be less severe, so less ouch (depending on the weapon you could dislocate your shoulder) 3. you're at risk of loosing grip and weapon flying back (there should be plenty of youtube video examples). There are (way) more details that can be pointed out but those 3 are the most important ones. Since I'm serving in the (Dutch) army for close to 20 years now I feel qualified to answer this question for you ;-) Keep being awesome, your reviews are 👍💪

The way he holds his rifle makes me laugh. You can start at a “high ready” with the buttstock over your shoulder (say you’re on high alert/patrol) but that is supposed to make it accessible for you to brace your shoulder against the stock when you shoot. Stock is placed into the pocket of your shoulder so you can AIM. He has no point of contact into his shoulder, which leads me to believe he hasn’t really shot a rifle for accuracy….. typical Seagal

Segal is holding his rifle very incorrectly. You are supposed to hold the butt of the stock into our shoulder as firmly as you can. This is to help absorb and distribute recoil from the weapon's firing, because of Newton's Third Law. The way Segal is shooting it will probably put hot gas in his ear or face and then the rifle will kick back over his shoulder and he'll drop it, dangerous situation all around. The gun is deigned to be held into the shoulder because that should line up the sights. So how he hits anything in the real movie magic here.

Yes he looks like he's never held a gun in his life he looks like my 10 daughter when I was teaching her how to shoot a rifle you always hold the stock of the gun shotgun / rifle any gun with a stock depending on how powerful the gun it could break your collar bone it would half to be a 10 gauge shotgun or a really powerful rifle like a 300 magnum one time I pulled both triggers on a 10 gauge shotgun the gun kicked so hard I thought I broke my shoulder it was a bruised bad

That is an awful way to hold a rifle. TBH he rarely holds a weapon in a manner that looks like he remembers very little firearm protocol, but, whatevs.

My guess is that "on the ground" was a reference to MMA wrestling. And a rifle stock doesn't go in your armpit or over your shoulder it goes into your chest just to the side of the armpit.

His films are so dark--I mean literally dark, they just don't light them at all for some reason. It's almost as if they don't want you to look too closely🤔
