I think it because on the IPS display. If you are a amoled or super amoled phone user it might be diffent when using a IPS display. On my opinion it just normal.

Lol it's impossible to get screen burn on a LCD but you can get screen retention on LCD but it's not permanent and will go away after a few minutes

My Nova 3i screen had this for like a week of use. I had to do something about it myself since the Huawei service center is very far. It just goes away after sometime and reducing the brightness can help as well as certain apps on google play.

Watching those videos about phones, that the camera sucks, or this or that. Imagine this, I never had any high end phone in my entire life (I'm 35 years old). Now I have finally decided to actually buy Redmi Note 9S, currently awaiting delivery. For the past 3 years I am using Samsung galaxy A3 (from 2006), prior to that, I had windows phone, and prior to that I had an iPhone 3, 4. Every single phone I had was 2nd hand and "obsolete" at the time I got them. So please when you are using old dinosaur phones, and you get to middle/high end phone it seems that the phone you purchase is superior. I never thought of a phone as something all in one. I invested more money into PC (gaming pc) and digital camera to play games and take pictures, I never been and never will be a selfie person, I hate to be included in photos.So for me phones were simply to receive text or a call, call someone or send text, and at most video calls which again there was no need for perfect video quality. I guess this phone is going to feel superior to all the phones I have had before!

This is not a deal breaker, it's very minimal and you have to actually hunt to notice it at all. I think people who complain about this keep forgetting it's not a flagship level phone. ($600+ models) This is still an amazing bang for your buck at $200-230, depending on where you buy it/configuration specs. Can't wait for mine to arrive in the mail in a couple of weeks.

Its impossible for LCD screen to "burn-in" as the light source is not from the LCD panel but the backlight (edge mounted LEDs) either behind the panel or side mounted. Unlike amoled screen which is an organic LED and has no backlight. LCD screen ghosting can be fix by manufacturer tweaking the firmware that controls the LCD voltage. Its common to have light bleeds and washout color on IPS LCD panel. LCD with minimal light bleeds are called VA LCD. but this kind or LCD can only be found on "LED TV" not on smart phones or tablets due to limited viewing angles. IPS LCD has the best viewing angle but the worst black due to light bleed.

I've experienced this with Huawei Nova 3i. It's very obvious with a black background indeed and usually happens after you stayed at one display at a very long time (usually 3 mins up). BUT after tinkering with the phone, it usually just go away and flashing different colors simultaneously will help naman. Some call it screen ghosting and its common sa IPS LCD screen. Amoled displays also have this (screen burn in ata yun?). I always wanted to get an Amoled screen phone but knowing the risk like this is giving me doubts. Still, Redmi Note 9 Series are great phones for such cheap prices. 👍

Theres is no such problem.. infact im pretty suprise by its black level.. light bleeds exist in all LCD screens... Its NOT A PROBLEM when viewed at an angle how of how a normal human being use their phone. If got "problem" probably due to OCD... I think corning gorilla glass 5 front and back, I.R blaster and big battery with decent charging speed more than makes up for the minor screen issues..plus L.E.D notification is very convinient in my opinion..having said that, i would'nt mind if they'd stuck an amoled screen on it and jacked up the price just a lil bit so we can have an always on display..

my 9s is updated to the latest version. while browsing the internet i tried to use incognito mode and i was surprise to see the fb background at the back of the dark background . I try to close the google chrome and check my message app which is also in dark mode and the fb background was still there and it was quite noticiable likewise in my dark wallpaper. I try using ghost screen apk but still it didnt fix the issue. after almost 2 hours finally the screen retention is gone but i still decided to sell my phone. It was my first time experiencing andI was a little bit disappointed especially since I really enjoy my note 9s it was a great phone except for its screen issue.

Yes I had that issue as well but only happens on Battle Royal not on multiplayer. I also seen this issue in POCO X3 NFC. But not on the other Xiaomi phones. Hopefully an update will to fix this will be available soon

Lol that is not bleeding, if you see a cut between the light, that is bleeding hehehe, try realme, oppo, vivo, samsung, iphone etc. etc., if there is a bleeding issue in your new phone, it means you buy a defective phone, try to report and replace it quickly.

The new chipset, Snapdragon 720G, has been proven to be more effective than Helio G90T. That is why I bought Note 9S instead of Note 8 Pro. Though it still has many bugs here and there, it is understandable as it is a newly developed chipset. If you are patient enough, buy Note 9s. It will be worth it in the long run as future updates will slowly optimize this chipset and fix its bugs. :)

Jam Macapal but its still not very efficient to buy something that is having alot of issues on the first launch when other Phone Companies has better phone that could offer and make you feel that “Final and Finished Product” not a phone that has a log of issues. It would be wiser for Xiaomi to postpone the release of the phone if it has issues rather than releasing it with defects or bugs. Your money will just go down to drain of regret especially if you used it for 1 month

The screen bleeding issue is also a hardware issue not a software issue so no amount of updates will fix it. Good luck using the phone.

@@aex2309 That is fine with me as I am patient enough for updates, and yes, I know that screen bleeding is a hardware issue since I have done my research on the phone. I have been torn between Note 8 Pro and Note 9s, but in the end, I chose 9s because its a new model and also of its powerful chipset. I really don't mind the screen bleeding issue since I think some people are just over exaggerating it. I have watched plenty of reviews about this phone and some of them said that it really isn't that noticeable for everyday use. Plus, whatever anyone says, Mediatek will always be inferior to Snapdragon and I trust Xiaomi enough to fix all the bugs that this phone possesses in the future. Research about Pocophone F1 Screen Bleeding. After hearing many complaints about this issue, Xiaomi immediately took action and have you seen people complain about it now? Heck, I didn't even know that Pocophone F1 had such problems before. And do you think Xiaomi would be dumb enough to release a phone thats not even worth buying? They are slowly taking over the phone industry by taking a risk and trying something new and I appreciate them for that. I think its worth the risk :) Good day to you Sir or Ma'am :)

Really not a big trouble to my mind, even not a trouble at all. I can't test but pretty sure it's linked to the screen technology, should find a phone with same screen technology who doesn't have this "issue" to compare.

My Redmi Note 9 is stuck in dark mode, even after turning off dark mode in Display settings. Could you please help on how I can get my phone back to light mode.?

Yeah the Redmi note 9S has the worst LCD DISPLAY ON ANY SMARTPHONE. same with the PPCO F1. Cheap ass LCD screen. I have a Nokia 8.1 and the screen is so good that it beats some super Amoled displays. And guess what?. It's an LCD DISPLAY

No issue for me. I hardly notice it. And so far my poco f1 have a much worse screen bleeding and it did not escalate. Bewn using it for almost 2 years now.

I didn't experience this on the Redmi Note 9s but I've seen this on my Redmi Note 9 Pro. Could be some compatibility issues with new phones but usually they will update and fix it.
