hello destiny, what it sounds to me like you want gamers to account for female gamers and to treat them differently, no banter, no shit talking, no edgy bitching to each other.... if women want to be treated equally to men in video game lobbies they should hit back at these nerds and sling their own shit at the people who are dissing them, not storming off the game or reporting the players or screaming down the microphone because they think that one guy is misogynistic, treat women like their equal to men

@@damonknight2494 Bruh what? Men don't get hate in gaming because of their gender. It's because of their skill. While Women WILL get hate mainly because of gender. Why not have equality where it's about skill and not a gender which they can't control. Seems unfair.
@RossMellow

@@damonknight2494 I thought the main point was that we have society in general and online culture are already treating female gamers differently because all the encouragement, advertisement and support is to the sons and not the daughters for success or achievements made related to video games and that difference that we already have is what's pushing them away. Although I don't know if it's a good idea to have someone take action in order to be treated equally in the first place, they should just be treated equally at the start.

Agreed, but to be fair, it was pretty danged annoying that she kept trying to change the subject or move on when people were just starting to hash things out. Consensus doesn't go straight from statement to agreement. Sometimes they need time to formulate arguments for better communication of ideas. She wasn't doing a great job in that respect.
@ummmmmmmmmmmnmmmm

@@2live4football She mentioned that her chat wanted to change topic so I think she was doing her job by appealing to the demands of her audience. But I completely agree that big panel discussions like these need more time per topic to hash things out. I much prefer having an in depth analysis over just getting the general vibe of how each panelist feels about it.

The year is 2024. Destiny hasn’t streamed in over 2 years. August has just uploaded the 4th iteration of the Jontron debate, this time with additional music to supplement the previous edits. The house I’m in has gone decrepit. There are mice eating a stucco wall smeared with the grease of a pizza thrown after the third version of the Jontron debate was edited with tweets made by Vaush supporting a left wing version of Jon’s politics. I am getting cold. I cannot feel my feet. Soon, my legs will grow numb. I am still waiting for the next livestream

Hey Destiny, I'm a Medicare Advisor and Insurance expert with one of the leading insurance companies in the USA (I don't want to disclose whom) and there is a lot about the state of our healthcare system that most people who aren't in the industry completely don't understand. For starters, I want to state that the USA's healthcare system is designed to extract as much money from both patients AND insurance companies as possible to maximize the return to the point of borderline extortion. This is mainly due to many people trying to get their own slice of the money pie as hospitals charge exorbitant amounts just for an ambulance, charge magnitudes higher than necessary because they know the insurance companies have to pay it and will low ball them on a $2000 procedure which likely costs $200 in another country, insurance companies have different payment schedules that doctors will either like or dislike thus making insurance a toss up if it'll even be accepted even if its government coverage, and for those who have no coverage there is no difference in the eyes of the hospitals so they charge them as if they're an insurance company. Its no wonder nobody goes to get checkups when you have to pay $150 just to have a doctor check your prostate. Even worse is how insurance companies (yes even the ones I am connected to) have a lot of ways to be disqualified from coverage even if you can afford it. The amount of clients I've had that had liver issues and could only qualify for graded policies is astronomical- and even when they get approved they still can't even use most of it for 2 years since they're such high risk to make a claim. I have to look people in the eyes and tell them "Sorry, you pay $30 a month but you gotta wait a year before your dental kicks in"- Even people who want and get coverage still get the short end of the stick, often having to endure periods of sickness or injury before finally having their coverage kick in to cover it. Its so late that I might not have typed too coherently, but I feel like this is a topic I wanted to get off my chest. Let's not even forget to mention insurance prices and how they aren't just calculated by age, community, Tabaco use, or other similar things, but the companies apply each year to have their price increase approved by the state's insurance board which I've seen approve %10 up to %20 increases- not to mention that these increases come right around this time of year (July) without giving anyone any increase in benefits. Even the allegedly "government paid" Medicare for seniors will ask you for a $1756 deductible on part A and a $274 premium on Part B which btw you should have both unless you're military or under 65. The only saving grace is that your $200 a month supplement covers that part A deductible- wow yay. Our system is massively flawed, unempathetic to the needs of Americans, and downright predatorial. My opinion how to fix our healthcare system: Set Medicare to be universal from 18 years old onward as a primary coverage to all Americans and allow private companies to sell supplementary secondary coverage which can act as a hole filler (which we already do for people 65+). Then set a national payment schedule standardization so that all doctors will be comfortable accepting all coverage, and set a nation wide insurance rate that can standardize the amount any company can raise its costs per year because if I see Etna apply for a 15% increase next year I'm going to lose my mind. I'm sorry to all the non-Americans who read this and are now horrified.

Totally right. I work in low income behavioral health and I have to turn people away bc they have the wrong kind of medicaid or Medicare. On the other end, I have multiple chronic illnesses. Despite that between my wife and I almost breaking 100k, we're hovering right over just making ends meet bc of my medical bills despite good insurance, and I havent even started treatment yet, its been over 10 years just now figuring out i have autoimmune and neurological problems (which I've been saying). Last year they caught cervical spinal stenosis at the point I was becoming paralyzed.
@cscsontren5666
@cscsontren5666 2 жыл бұрын
@@mclazerz8931 I’m glad they caught it when they did. My one big draw to the left: how can we be a leading country in anything when this problem is anything but extremely rare. Many people have large enough amounts of medical debt that was accrued through no fault of their own yet that it becomes the source of significantly negative outcomes in all other aspects of your life. No idea the best way to do it, but in some form, universal healthcare has to be the path forward.
@briddenattech

Don't get me wrong, I no longer live in the US, but in the first paragraph I already know you are incorrect about your assumption about the hospitals simply trying to extract as much money as possible. We had insurance for many years and decided to pocket the difference of premiums. We know as a fact that we are charged WAY less as uninsured than when we were insured. Not only that but we often were charged after the insurance refused to pay 1/4 of the due amount. We had a child both on and off of insurance, and the out of pocket cost difference was almost negligible when you consider the cost of premiums. I now live in Japan and it is amazing that lack of difference depending on the care I receive. Japan has a socialized healthcare system and the cost wildly differs depending on what I'm having done. 2 orthopedic cleanings? 500$. Arthritis medication and joint aspiration? 70$. Some costs are higher than uninsured in the USA while others are much lower. The US system seems bad, but now that I've lived overseas and actually experienced the alternative... it's the same story, different place. Any policy that conflates 'health insurance' with 'health care' is going to be a losing policy. (Which is exactly what you are doing)

So, let me explain what it's like as a girl playing games: The moment I start a game and people notice my name, I'll immediately start getting voice chat invites or just general friend requests. If I talk to someone on mic, they will literally never leave me alone after that, I'll get invite after invite, message after message, it'll never stop. People will follow me around in game, some people will give me stuff, which probably doesn't sound bad but I want to do my own work, it's the purpose of playing the game. The others? They'll kill me just to grief me for being a woman and taunt me for being a woman if they do. I only play exclusively in solo servers now. The reason why it sucks more is because I also get that "grief" in real life, people not leaving me alone, catcalling in the street that can be pretty scary, gender based things in general, it's not very fun. I have a pretty stalwart personality, though. I can imagine for other women, it would 100%, in conjunction with their real life, dissuade them from playing. Not everyone is built for harassment.

*It's biological* "Toy story: Why do monkey and human males prefer trucks? Comment on “Sex differences in rhesus monkey toy preferences parallel those of children” by Hassett, Siebert and Wallen" NCBI " Showing that sexually dimorphic toy preferences reflect basic neurobiological differences between males and females and are not caused solely by socialization, as has been suggested by cognitive-social theories of gender role behavior" Males are more interested in things and females are more interested in people, or the species equivalent . Which is demonstrated through multiple studies with humans and other animals where males play with trucks more often, and females play with dolls more often. Which is why the majority of teachers, vets and care roles, are dominated by women, where men are over represented in things like engineering and science etc. So although to an extent video games are becoming more sociable, women do prefer to have conversations in person, as speech is just one aspect of socialising, you're missing out on so much of the social experince when you can't see someone's face, and have the distraction of someone having their head shot or chopped off on a screen. So it's not the market forcing girls to play with things like dolls, and boys video games, it's girls forcing these companies to market dolls to them, and it's boys forcing these companies to market video games to them. *Response to gaming* "Gender-related differences in neural responses to gaming cues before and after gaming: implications for gender-specific vulnerabilities to Internet gaming disorder" NCBI "Gaming-related cues elicited higher cravings in male vs female subjects. Prior to gaming, males demonstrated greater activations in the striatum, orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), inferior frontal cortex and bilateral declive. Following gaming, male subjects demonstrated greater activations in the medial frontal gyrus and bilateral middle temporal gyri. In a post-pre comparison, male subjects demonstrated greater thalamic activation than did female subjects." "Short-term gaming elicited in males vs females more craving-related activations to gaming cues. These results suggest neural mechanisms for why males may be more vulnerable than females in developing Internet gaming disorder." *Biological Advantages In Video Games* So although you could argue that culture may further the differences between men and women getting into video games, it is also biological, and men also have biological advantages to better at video games.They have a more robust hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, which allows them to deal with more stressful situations more efficiently, better hand to eye coordination and quicker reaction times for example. And secondly studies have shown that when men and women are given more freedom and less social pressure, that women become more interested in people, and men become more interested in things, which is why in Scandinavian countries, even more women go into care roles, and even more men go into engineering etc. So you would expect the same to be true for video games as well.

Christianity does not fall apart because god isn’t provable. Im an atheist, yet I can’t deny that almost all of my morals come from Christianity. The influence Christianity has had on western civilization far outweighs anything else. The reason these guys couldn’t give their own value/moral framework is because they know it would be a reflection/extension of Christian morality. Just because something is old and hasn’t changed in a while, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It probably means it’s working or has worked. Just because we were born after the people that divined it, doesn’t mean it’s any less relevant. Humans are humans and always have been. Inorite? Guys could have literally quoted the first line of the Wikipedia page on liberalism and said that's our values, that's how we wanna do things. This seemed like the obvious response to a guy advocating for a totalitarian theocracy. Then when we wanna keep asking why liberal values are good, we have to remember to also ask why it's good to do what the bible says. Not everyone will answer the same way. IF the answer is that following the bible leads to human flourishing generally and avoids the pain of hell individually then we're looking at very common motivations of collective and individual interest that liberals can also recognize, except that they have a stronger emphasis on individual liberties and prolly very different ideas on what achieves human flourishing for society and the individual. So a lot of good and bad is just gonna be pleasure and pain on either side. You could also say following the bible is required no matter what because God is the ultimate authority. But the guy on this panel said that following the bible has concrete utility for humans so no need to go into the argument for full on submission here.

One of the reasons why we have one of the strongest military is because we are a necessary component for a lot of the other defense systems around the world. Other countries are dependent on us to secure their freedoms and their power so it is insured that our military is strong. I would imagine that if it was the case that the world also relied on our health care for their well being then our health care would also be one of the best health care systems in the world. I really wish I could do these type of things. I get so anxious when I hear dumb shit. Like I really wish people could push these conservatives more on their points. First of all we have physical differences between sex. That doesn't equate to women not being able to do things that men can do. Video games are meant to be fun. Some people find fun in competitive games. And even in that catagory. You have people who might play casual. Other strive to be the best. But I see no objective fact that says woman are bad at video games when video games are more than pvp. And even then if you have a woman who doesn't win a tournament that doesn't make her a bad player. The worst person in a tournament is probably better than 70% of the player base. The guy who comes in talking about his experience with the medical field. I would push him on what the solution to that specific problem with people faking emergencies and getting free rise to the hospital that normally would cost $1,000. Because this would force him to think about a solution and you can counter if he goes down the Hispanic line more because while I can grant his experience to a extent. It's anecdotal and can't be applied to everyone. Because while it may be true that some people will take advantage. That doesn't mean we shouldn't have a program based on that logic. I just suspect that he is biased and is exaggerating the f*** out of that example. The women shit again is terrible. You do not get to call a whole group something based upon your own experiences. And plus women are people not dogs that need to be obedient. A relationship is about 2 people working together. This is old ways of thinking. And as far as his Christian values. Look no further than Muslim counties for why a society ran on religion doesn't work. There is a reason why this isn't a Christian country and we have laws and rights in our constitution that go against Christianity for a reason. Free speech being one of them. You have a right to be a Christian and express your religious beliefs. But you don't have a right to force everyone else to follow your religion. And people have the right to express religious beliefs other then Christianity. It's call freedom of religious expression and not freedom of only religious expression for a reason.

I need someone to answer this for me. I'm at 1:03:39 and the guy is talking about how women "shouldn't" work unless given promission by their father or husband, and when they do work they should only do nurturing work (nursing, baby sitting, daycare). I'm just trying to figure out how, with his thought process, we replace 71.75 million jobs (This is how many women work in the US). Lets say half of those women are in nurturing jobs already, Then I still have to ask, where do we find 35,875,000 workers to replace the women who are no longer working. And I'm going to assume he doesn't only hold this view for American women, but all women. So where do we find workers to replace all the women of the world when they leave their jobs? I'm tired when writing this. If anything is misspelled or the grammar is incorrect, just know... I don't care.

Well, by his way of thinking, those jobs wouldn’t be replaced, they would be done at the behest of their husbands. I would bet he would argue for a sort of incremental approach arguing that as it is, the lack of family first approach to working privileges production over family cohesion.

Forget these chubs answers no one answered seriously. It's crazy how bad these takes are. Men are forced to work by nature and society. Women are not. If there was one sex that could be classified as "forced to work," it would be men. This means that men, by nature, occupy the workplace inherently, and obviously they occupy it first because of this. So if a women wants to join a work force, it's not up to her. It's up to the men, seeing they already occupy that location in a defacto sense. Imagine a football team thats made of all men and the team is full. If a woman wanted to join that team, it wouldn't be up to her would it? It would be up to the people who already occupy that team. But in this sense, it's the workplace, not a football team. The argument is that this phenomenon is defacto by nature. Also, it's actually not the women's choice to enter that space, it's the choice of the people who already occupy that work space, which by nature and fact, has always been men. This is literally the exact argument he's making

Just at the 12 minute mark. I think the bearded guy got it right the first time before correcting himself. Women had more participation in labor force prior to industrial revolution. Even with hunter and gatherers, women usually produce more than men (around 80%) and control their own resources. Just look at how often women dominate traditional markets. The old chestnut beloved by some evo psych folks that women need rugged male providers because they are stuck birthing and taking care of babies doesn't really pan out empirically if you look around the globe. Gathering was where the majority of the calories came from, not hunting done by men. Hunting is technically often more prestigious, but then everybody starts "insulting your meat." Even with some very patriarchal pastoralists women's agriculture was more important economically than men's herding. It is relatively late that specialization and industrialization started to separating the private and public spheres in terms of production, and then you get things like the cult of true womanhood or domesticity. It's interesting how in 19th century a major project Christian missionaries almost always undertook was to establish the centrality of the nuclear family. This was also meant to tie women more strictly to their roles as a wife and a mother. They had to be obedient and provide a moral example for the male head of household. This often eroded the important ties women had to their own kin groups, which were typically the major source of their social prestige and societal agency.

Very well said. I’ve always thought this basic idea that hey back in the day where a lot of life was pure survival why wouldn’t both sexes work for the good of their family/group/community? Especially when one of the sexes, whose most important purpose is birthing and being the primary caregiver for children, still has time and skill to dedicate to other areas even while doing their main role with complete satisfaction. I feel like humans in general back then used many more of the hours of a day. Maybe because life is easier now this whole progression (regression some would say I imagine) has been good for the species (better survival). But that doesn’t mean that thinking women should ONLY pump out babies and then lay around all day caring for the baby is somehow biological or genetically or anything other than pure societal pressure is defendable in the slightest. Could certainly argue if the societal change you see now is good or bad but you can’t argue that the way women are viewed now bears any resemblance to actual history or because of some “innate, biological truth” that women just have/need to stay at/in the home with the children.
@hmhs77
@hmhs77 2 жыл бұрын
@@tayzk5929 Evidence just doesn't support the idea that women have been stay at home moms throughout human history, with little more to do than take care of babies. The very idea of separating "home" from work and the public sphere is a fairly new one. In domestic mode of production women's productive role was usually highly important. Sure, you get a lot of variance depending on productive technology. In hoe or shifting agriculture women's labor was extremely important, but with plow agriculture women work less in the fields. This is why some have argued that brideprice correlates with hoe agriculture, since it is meant to compensate for the female labor. Working class women worked a lot during the industrial revolution too. Heck, the major invention that people associate with industrial revolution - the spinning jenny - was attacked by women because it reduced the demand for women's work in the textile industry.

Don’t think he meant every possibly conceivable role that a man may have but more that the typical, classic traits or characteristics (at least historically, now a days it seems like all you hear about regarding male traits is “toXiC MaScuLiNiTy”) associated with men are arguably much “cooler “ than the trait counterparts associated with females. To me those are the cool men, not the ones described in the video. People from both sides think physical differences and they immediately jump to the "good" parts. @@myotakuacountyo1216 I agree 100% that men that truly embody those traits are the cool ones not just men who talk about having those traits with zero real evidence of them only claiming to have them. @@cscsontren5666 I think women are often told their femininity is something that makes them inferior, so of course we are going to deny those traits even if they are awesome. I am a woman who naturally has personality traits more associated with masculinity, I am assertive adventurous, usually like taking lead ect. So it is good to keep in mind that those roles are not as rigid as we think, but can't deny that men and women are inclined to specific traits either. However women won't admit it because we are often looked down for those traits, they give a more subtle power, I can't imagine how my house would function growing up without my mother's gentleness and willingness to compromise and cooperate with everyone, she was basically the director of the house!
