REDSKINS A flame that can’t be dimmed
RED the colour of the left, communism, socialism. SKINS short for skinheads.
Inspired by The Clash and militant Soul music the Redskins burnt brightly in the 1980s. They raged against capitalism with fire, passion and revolutionary politics. The 1984-5 miners strike was the pinnacle of their power, playing benefit gigs, appearing on TV and raising support for the strikers. This ten minute tribute brings together the best of their songs, videos and interviews. The Redskins are gone but their legacy lives on with a message much needed today. Radical culture is a crucial component for any movement for mass social change. Thanks and solidarity to all the musicians and filmmakers who made this tribute possible. Keep On Keeping On inspires me every day I have to live in a country (Brazil) that's being literally dismantled by the "bosses", while nearly 14 million people are unemployed. People need to hear this message now just as they did in the 80's, if not more.

Never been a fan of communism, but this band was brilliant. They had guts, I'll definitely give them that. Their songs still resonate with the youth today (and still with myself),thank Christ. Talented blokes, they are. The Nostalgia Wave has engulfed me this last few good mornings and I love looking back at this band

Absolutely brilliant tribute, thank you so much for creating and posting this! The band deserved nothing less of course. The commentary is spot on talking about the band's passion - they had so much energy live that if you'd hooked them up to the National Grid you could probably run London for a week! But their lyrics are as timeless as their music, everything they say in those interviews is so relevant today. A legendary band, I realise now how privileged I was to have been able to see them play live. Genius.

A fantastic potted expanation of the Redskins raison d'etre. There's a good hour-long documentary to be made on them though; a lot of tales to be told, funny and sad, not just from inside the band, but from the fans/musicians (like myself) who did a bit of liggin', and remain forever touched by that period.

When I discovered their album completely by accident, I was completely surprised. especially after the band's name. it was the nineties, full of skinhead fascists, and here was such a surprise. They recorded an album with a unique sound, in a unique band. and they turned out to be left-wing, which also surprised me. To this day they are one of my favorite bands. They gave their all and had a message for the listeners. and it is still very good today. It's a pity there's only one album. maybe one, but unique

But why does one need to support communism to be anti-racist? I never understood that. I enjoy their music, and their style, but still never understood the lengths they would go through just to point out where they were politically. Regardless....this band was....and is, an instituition, and should be treated as such.
