In the wild, Bromeliads offer habitat to all sorts of creatures thanks to their rain-cup reservoirs. I wonder what happens to all the insects and niche-filling frogs when the mother plant dies back. Do they all move into the biggest "pups" I wonder.

Interesting, never really thought about that. I would assume that insects that lived in the rain cup will find another bromeliad and others would remain and just build their homes in the leaves etc of the dying mother plant.

Its always best to separate during the growing season, spring or summer.

Hi Alice aka "Theredsoilgardener", I am planting a small garden and my theme is "African Tropical Rain Forest". I've been watching tropical garden shows mainly from the Far East to get tips and learn about tropical plants because they have a tropical climate like ours. Then I happened upon your KZbin channel and I was very happy because at last I can watch a quality and informative KZbin gardening channel that is KENYAN! So, ... hongera sana! I have already subscribed. Can you kindly advise me where I can buy different varieties of bromeliads and also other tropical plants such as different varieties of philodendron, Colocasia (e.g., Alocasia reginae), and other tropical plants that are REASONABLY PRICED? The nurseries I have visited and found online mainly sell potted plants which are very expensive!! I will greatly appreciate your recommendations/suggestions and once again congratulations.
