Normal table salt is stripped of minerals. Use Celtic or Himalayan salt.

Also, I recently learned that most normal table salt contains sugar to help it not clump up!! I use Redmond's Real Salt, and I LOVE their Smoked Salts!! Adds some variety to my eating mostly ground beef!!

Eating and exercising better, stopped B.P. meds because my B.P. got too low. Taking a bit of pink salt with iodine before bed and Celtic salt in the morning to get rid of the headaches that the meds. couldn't.

And also be afraid of consuming too little salt. It's also necessary to maintain the correct amount of sodium because the main role of sodium is opening up the heart muscle, where as potassium has the opposite role, in closing the heart muscle. So too little sodium can jeopardize one's health.

Another great video Doc ….haven’t used salt in cooking or on any meal for over 20 years . I remember back in the day when you would fill a stick of celery full of salt or even a tomato halved out . I make my own soup now …if you buy canned goods they are loaded with salt .

Really a healthy diet is everything in moderation. Salt - use Himalayan or Celtic salt which have the vitamins and minerals intact. Same with sugar - white sugar has all the goodness stripped from it. Use unrefined sugar or one of the alternative such as Coconut, Jaggary, etc. Raw honey is also good and the different varieties can be used medicinally - Lavender for sleep, Thyme for coughs, Sage for sore throats etc. It may seem a bit more expensive but it comes in bigger jars, you don't need much and it lasts for ever. Don't use supermarket honey it's adulterated with sugar etc and has very little goodness in it - it's probably OK for cooking with as high temperatures would destroy the goodness anyway. Everyone's body is different, some bodies need more salt and sugar, others need less. There's no hard and fast rule and one size doesn't fit all!

Thank you for addressing this issue. As a carnivore for the past 1 1/2 years, I’ve noticed I need to salt my meat and eggs or else my blood pressure drops too low. I use Redmond’s Real salt, so I also add a couple of drops of iodine to my morning coffee. Can you make a video on iodine?

Years ago my mom had high blood pressure and she talked about salt like it was this evil Monster that no one is allowed to eat, but was it the salt that gave her high blood pressure Or was it her crap diet and lack of exercise? She cooked with a lot of oil she fried everything and put oil on everything and ate crap so was it really the salt that caused her high blood pressure?

Thank you for this video. I am a big fan of your channel. I am on Keto diet and the body dumps a lot of minerals including salt. So, my understanding was that magnesium, potassium and salt are crucial for keto dieters. I heard just the other day that Dr. Stephen Phinney was recommending 5-7 grams of salt daily for people on keto diet. I experience heart palpitations from time to time and take salt and electrolyte drops. That seems to make the problem go away. What is your take Dr. Story.? Thanks.

Oh? I've heard excess salt is simply eliminated by the body and not a problem. Me thinks salt is not as big a problem as some suggest.
@trina727429 күн бұрын
I have heard this as well. I think the real issue is weight…. Of course most people are overweight because of processed foods… So (in my humble opinion) Reduce your weight, reduce your blood pressure. Eat Whole, unprocessed Foods. Move your body. Drink plenty of water. Whala…. Reduced blood pressure.

I use pink Himalayan salt. I'm grateful for being able to eat Plant-based. Does veggies, potatoes, or fruits have any natural salt compounds?
@bettyjohnson296429 күн бұрын
So sorry you are still plant based, but at least you are not living on the processed junk!! I'm 72 and went carnivore 3 years ago and healed so MANY health conditions!! Hope you will consider adding some meat and see if you might feel better! God bless you!! ❤

Im sick of being fed contradictory info on diet. Not just salt, but many other cullinary topics. Sodium chloride bad....sea salt mineral salt ok. True or false for gods sake.? Elecrtolytes important, true or false? Is anyone else sick of contradictory advise where food is concerned....its a bloody minefield. Enough I say!!

I remember as a child some “experts “ said that cranberries were bad for you but other people said they were good for you! 🤪😱 That’s just one example that I knew of.
@bettyjohnson296429 күн бұрын
I agree with you, but over the last few years I have found a lot of doctors, especially leaning towards keto and carnivore, that share what is the truth, in my opinion!! Some of them even show studies.
