Reed Bunting Behaviour Tail Flicking

Bothe the male and female reed bunting have white outer tail feathers that show well when they are in flight. Intermittently they have a distinctive habit of flicking their tails; it’s really more a spreading or the tail for a fraction of a second resulting in a quick flash of white. Why they do this uncertain, it’s suggested that it may be a nervous flick or a form of communication.

They really are very attractive little birds. The white sparrow reminded me of a 'white' robin I saw in our garden a few years back...it was pretty much white all over but still had red on the breast. Only saw it once, but that was a real treat.
