I'm English I really do not get annoyed, Joe Marler winds the opposition up all the time. Trying to wind up your opponent is part of the game whether you think it is right or not. If you react then it really is your problem.

Master class from the big man! Part of all sports is getting in the oppositions head, and Sinckler was an easy target back then. Love a good wind up in Rugby. If he's smiling whilst grabbing your shirt, it means he is living in your head rent free

It’s all down to knowing the character of the opposing players. I would regularly antagonise specific opponents because I knew they would bite and do something silly, just like here, but I wouldn’t waste my time on others because I knew they knew exactly what I was up. If an opponent tried it on me then I would usually just smile and wink or whatever, which would sometimes really get to them so their intentions rebounded. It’s all part of the psychological side of the game and AWJ is definitely a Master! I never saw anything that happened on the pitch being carried over into the clubhouse but maybe I’ve just led a sheltered life... :-)

Surely the point is that if Sinkler can't take the sledging and loses his rag he shouldn't be on the pitch. The take out at the ruck is fair game, so is keeping hold of him in a maul. Sinkler's reactions in pushing AWJ and taking out the kicker are foul play, more penalties against what was a poorly disciplined England team. In the end it was their discipline, or rather the lack of it which cost them the game.
