Using lasagna sheets is genius! Thanks for the eye-opener :) For those who are feeling even more adventurous, you can try experimenting with the filling. The following are my two attempts so far: - Sautee onion and spinach, let it cool down, add crumbled feta cheese (and salt depending on the saltiness of the cheese) and mix it well. - Grate two carrots and two zucchinis, squeeze their water out, sautee them, cool it down, crack an egg, mix it well, add crumbled feta cheese (and possibly dill) These are far from the traditional su boregi, but are very tasty variations to it :)

Ahh Refika, my aunt, may she rest in peace, used to be the Queen of su borek. I watched her art work in the kitchen as she prepared the dough from scratch, boiled it, cooled it, layered it... what a treat. I would give anything to have her make it for me again. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Refika, I'm an African living in Turkey and your videos has helped me alot in making Turkish dishes at home. I would want you to make a particular recipe. I don't know the name but I know all the ingredients in it. It's made from parsley leaves, pickles, mint leaves, a sprinkle of couscous, a sprinkle of sweet corn and I think a dash of sumac because it has a slightly sour taste but delicious. Thank you
@Cyrous3 жыл бұрын
The first dish which came to my mind is Kısır, but as I know, for Kısır no pickles is used. And one more thing is different, they use Bulgur for Kısır instead of Couscous. Hope Refika can say more about it. If you mean Kısır, Refika already made it and you can find it on her Channel as I remember.

I remember when I lived in the Indische neighbourhood, Indische buurt, in Amsterdam there was a Turkish deli or bakery. They had something which I now understand was böreği. I always had the one with spinach. I miss it living now in Luxembourg. I will have to ask my Turkish colleague if she knows a place where to buy this😀😀

It’s börek, you only change the k to a ğ and add an “i” at the end if you add a description at the beginning, such as su böreği, which is water borek in English, gul böreği, or rose borek. So it’s better to just use börek in English since English doesn’t have many cases (we only really have it with he changing to him when he is an object and not a subject). They do this with other nouns as well, such as salad is salata, but if you want to say eggplant salad, it becomes patlıcan salatası.
@MrLcowles3 жыл бұрын
I lived there too once years ago. On Balistraat. I remember a great Turkish deli place on the same street.

@@TheBLGL We don't mind wrong usage of Turkish suffixes at all as there are literally thousands of them. But once you learn the logic and rules it is quite easy to generate suffixes for each word which could be noun, verb, adjective, anything really. But ofc if he searches as ''böreği'' wouldn't get correct results.
