Thanks for the video. I just installed an IM115 myself and seem to have missed the instruction to twist the water level screw as you did in this video. It has been making ice but very little at a time, hopefully after the adjustment it will work properly. Thanks again.

My problem seems to be something with the ice maker, not the water supply. On our GE Profile refrig, the ice maker seems to be "stuck". The water supply is not frozen, but the unit will not function. I need some advice on how to put the arm back in place ,it fell to the bottom of the frig and I can’t get it in there.

Turn the icemaker off for 30 seconds and turn it on and push the arm in slowly 3 times and wait then wait 45 seconds. The icemaker should cycle and fill with water. If the icemaker doesn't cycle, replace the icemaker. If the icemaker cycles but doesn't fill with water then you need to replace the water valve on the back of the unit because it's not sending water up to the icemaker. Hope that helps.

I did everything as described in the video & it still isn't working. Does it take awhile to start working again or is it pretty instant. The only thing I did differently was I unplugged the fridge before I started working on it. After I was done I plugged it back in & flipped the bar down to turn the ice maker back on. Any advice anyone has to offer is much appreciated. Hoping I don't have to get a new fridge all because the ice maker stopped working. 😔

PartSelect Hi, I have that same fridge that you are working on. The ice will not dispense. It's there, I can touch it with my finger. When it started to malfunction it made smaller cubes but for a very short time. Now it doesn't drop the ice in the bucket. Thanks for any help.

I saw nothing of your response to my inquiry. Ice maker flat out does nothing; no ice, no noise, only the green light on steady. On our GE Profile side-by-side, the ice maker is Model CAN 17. There is also another number, DR 200D1181G013WR30X10044. Hope this is enough info for you to troubleshoot. If not, let me know. Thanks for your continuing help.

So I have the same ice maker that I just bought. When I installed it, nothing happens. Nothing actually happens until I unscrew the levelling screw…when I unscrew it enough the water will turn on but it won’t stop. It’ll just keep running and overflowing. Any ideas?

The ice maker is cycling, but no water to the unit. I'm going to check the filter but since it went from working fine to zero ice I doubt that's it. I'll also pull off the feed line near the unit to check for a frozen line. The door water is working fine so I know it's getting water.

I have a problem with my ice maker. When I lower the ice lever it makes no ice cubes but appears to leak water into the freezer which begins to freeze up, accumulating ice on the inside of the freezer. Frigidaire fridge model #FRS26LF7DSP

Rick McCarthy Check the fill tube that feeds the ice maker to see if it is distorted, restricted or misaligned. The ice maker mould should fill in 7-9 seconds when the inlet fill valve is energized.

Hello Steve, thank you very much for the video. My fridge is not making ice. I checked the water line to the ice maker and is OK, I checked the voltage to the ice solenoid and I got 0 volt. I thought that could be the ice maker, also I performed a test, I switched the solenoids connections (water and ice) in order to determine if my problem is the ice solenoid. So when I pressed the water dispenser, I noticed that water was coming in the ice maker. Finally, I determined that for some reason, I have to replace the ice maker. It is any other diagnose that you recommend that I have to do? Once a gain thank you.

I think that you have already diagnosed the symptom successfully. You can use a test jumper wire between terminals “T” and “H” on the icemaker control to initiate a test cycle. If the ice maker does not go through a cycle, then I would suspect that the control is faulty. If the test cycle passes, then suspect a faulty thermostat in the ice maker. Replacing the complete ice maker is the most practical solution .

No water getting to ice maker. I purchased a new valve assembly but still no water. It sounds like it is trying to cycle (hums when the valves should be open to fill) but no water at all. I tried to defrost from inside with a hair dryer, still no water. Could it be the control module or ??.

It could be the ice maker that’s faulty and needs to be replaced. Does your fridge have a built-in water filter? A clogged filter can also block water flow. To test the ice maker here are the steps: Insert an insulated jumper wire into test points “T” and “H” to initiate a test harvest. The jumper should be insulated 14 gauge solid wire that has the insulation stripped back about 3/4 of an inch on both ends, and bent into a “U” shape. When inserted into the test points for 5 to 10 seconds, the motor should start and the cycle will continue on its own. You may have to manually close the freezer door switch for this to operate. This test will simulate a real harvest cycle and will operate the ejector blades, shut off arm and the fill valve in the proper sequence, and will allow you to do a proper diagnosis. f the motor does not start, you can verify that you have power to the ice maker at test points “L” and “N”. If the ice maker is getting power and does not perform a cycle, then the module will need to be replaced. Hope that information helps. If you need additional information then please provide your fridge's model number.

I just have one question; I followed your installation process, and I have seen the arm go up and down, so it looks as though the new ice maker is cycling, I do not see or hear any water entering the ice tray. I have also replaced the water filter and the dispenser is fully functional. My guess is the water valve is bad, what do you think?

Excellent video, a 3 minute repair at the most, just make sure to loosen the screws a few turns as there is a little lip that keeps you from lifting it straight up if you don’t loosen it sufficiently.

I just bought a new house and the "flapper" is moldy and the blade that chops the ice is rusty. Can I just replace those items? The ice maker seems to work fine otherwise.

Hi Ayinde, we would recommend you inspect all other parts before for mold and rust before assuming it is good to go. While it is entirely possible the ice maker is fine, it's worth checking it for rust and mold before use.

Here is what has transpired. The ice maker suddenly stopped working. The paddle is not stuck and seems to work as it should. The green light is constantly on. I have tried to "free up" the turning mechanism with light hand pressure, to no avail. I have turned the unit off 3 different times and then turned it back on and pushed the paddle in and out as suggested, for resetting. There is no noise of any kind after doing any of these things. It is almost as tho there is no power there.

Fridge Model is FRS22ZGGW0, no water leaking from the back or near the water filter, it is only leaking from the ice maker.

I'd start with having a look at the water inlet valve first as it may be faulty. The valve can be tested with a multi-meter to see if it's working properly. Also, have a look at the water supply tubes and make sure they are not clogged with ice and are connected firmly to the water inlet valve. Next have a look at the ice maker itself and inspect the ice mold for any cracks. Hope that information helps!

I'd have a look at the solenoid assembly and test that part with a multi-meter to see if it's working properly. If so then have a look at the auger motor/bucket and make sure that's not clogged with ice and is working properly!

I don't have trouble getting ice it's the actual ice. I haqve trouble getting crushed ice from the machine. Alot of times we will open the freezer door after not being able to get crushed ice and ice will fall from the machine. It may be producing ice even after the bar is raised to shut off the making of ice. Please help? I loooovvveee crushed ice.

Great vid. I have the exact same ice maker. First the in-the-door water dispenser stopped. But ice maker still functioned. Then ice maker stopped. So I installed a new filter. Water dispenser worked, ice maker did not. Replaced the solenoid. No change. Replaced the ice maker, still no ice. I can jump across the 2 center wires in the bundle going to the ice maker and the water solenoid will send water to the ice maker. Hook it all up and still no ice maker function. I give up. What am I missing? Oh snap! 5 min after I wrote this the first cubes dropped. Amazing. From a zero to a hero with the drop of a few cubes.

If you plan to do this while the fridge is running... the heating element on the underside of the ice maker can be very hot. Learned this the hard way. 😬 Otherwise great video. 👍

All is well, EXCEPT...at 4 min in where you say "simply pop the cover off" (from that panel that has the On/OFF illustration)...I've tried and tried and cannot "pop" it off. I've tried squeezing the sides as I pulled...squeezing the top...nothing. The video has an edit that cuts out showing how you're supposed to grab it to pull it off. Anyone have a suggestion.

HI I have this exact Ice maker. i feel inside where the ice is made and I can feel water. Do you thin that this is an issue with the heating unit or the motor? Is this something I can diagnose, or do your recommend that I just replace the unit? It was replaced about 1 year ago when this same issue was happening.

If the water does not freeze in the ice maker mold but everything else in the freezer compartment is frozen, then you would have a problem with the ice maker control. A defect of this nature would normally result in the icemaker continually going through a harvest and fill cycle and therefore causing a flood symptom, which you do not mention, so I would question whether the freezer is cold enough.

If there are cubes in the ice maker mold that don’t get ejected, then I would suspect a problem with the ice maker thermostat or the ice maker control. It may be more practical to replace the complete ice maker.
