Agree 100 percent. I have retrained my muscles , got out of bed and return to full mobility in days. I am an RN x 31 years but how I wish doctors would stop discouraging patients this way

You and I both started the same year! This is my 31st year of being a PT and yeah, many are happier discouraging thier clients. Luckily not all of them. But its certainly something I encounter.

At 80 years old I had a surgical labyrinthectomy due to Ménière’s disease. This removed the balance organ from my right ear. Three months later following balance retraining I was out playing golf again. It is easy to walk along a plank on the ground but when it is raised 40 feet in the air our fear of falling affects our balance. Daily gentle practice overcomes this.

I am a teacher but when i had lost a lot kf weight secondary to muscle atrophy I HAD TO DO THINGS THE WAY YOU DESCRIBED SO I COULD SLOWLY LOSE MY FEZR OF FALLING AND GRADUALLY GAIN CONFIDENCE THAT I COULD DO THE WALKING. YOU ARE RIGHT, LOSS OF PROPRIOCEPTION IS TREATING IT DAILY, BY MULTIPLE REPEATS DAILY AND THEN YOU REGAIN YOUR ABILIITY TO WALK. I DON't re.ember when i was a todler but by the looks of them trying to walk, they are doing it by repetition.

As a nurse over the years I have seen too many people give in to the wheelchair and never get up again. Some of it is belief and mindset encouraged by their doctor

I feel drunk all the time. My body will still turn and twist but then I have to grab something to hold me up. It breaks me that I can not really pick up things from the floor. Walking to the mailbox is a real chore. These videos are giving me hope again. Thanks

10:20 Challenge. but SAFELY! I think that's why some people tell them to avoid challenge. For their safety from falls. But both can be achieved, and with knowing you are safe if you fail, you will be more inclined for more challenging efforts.

Will your teaching help those diagnosed with Parkinsonism?

Yes, this can help anyone with balance and coordination issues. Those with Parkinson's would be helped by this type of training.
