hi Matt look up xtx air gun tuning uk, they make end of cylinder gauges for when you regulate air arms rifles and they include a new designed probe which is more weirauch style type and works great I did it to my old s200 and it was excellent . you can then again see your working pressure

Just finished installing the lane regulator in my S510 as well, I used the valve spring that came with the regulator, set the reg to 135 bar and removed 1 3/4 coil of the hammer spring and I am getting 45 regulated shots within 15 fps spread averaging 880 fps with 18.13 jsb's from 205 bar fill. After watching your videos I am urge to try 250 bar fill which i hope will get me more shots.
@huntjunky19 жыл бұрын
+H Lalhruaitluanga That is quite good performance...you might try reducing pressure to 115-120 bar and adjusting your original hammer spring to your velocity. You should gain some more shots, at this velocity. Increasing your fill pressure will obtain more shots, but typically, the higher fill pressure shots are less efficient air usage (perhaps 3 or 4 bar per shot) as opposed to fill pressures under 200 bar (perhaps 2 bar per shot) with those at 150 to 115 bar being optimum @ 135 bar regulated pressure and 140 to 100 bar being optimum for 115 regulated pressure setting...kind of a choice between most efficient air usage and maximum number of shots per fill. Have fun playing with it...it is a gadgeteers sport.
@hlalhruaitluanga32339 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right about higher fill pressure. I did a 250 bar fill yesterday and got 67 shots out of 115 bar and from a 205 bar fill where i have 70 bar i am getting 45 shots. So 45 shots out of 70 bar thats 1.55 bar per shots and out of 115 i was expecting 75 shots instead getting 67

Its thanks to detailed analysis of shooting like this that helps the air rifle producers alot great vid and im sure its down to vids like this that convinced air arms to actually build a 510 ultimate sporter with a regulator built in, so thanks i love air arms guns there beautiful and very accurate and them adding a regulator was the only thing they needed and they have finally done that thanks to shooters like you showing them the benifits

the s510 r, ultimate sporter and tac all have a series 7 regulator , I'm confused why you installed a reg in a rifle that already has a reg, if your tuning then adjust the grub screw behind the anti tamper, the collar with the regulator is called a plenum which id use huma if I installed one in a s500 carbine

Thank you for all the great info about regulators and it was great to see your testing information at the end of this video. Crazy to see that after everything else, it was just as well to leave everything set as they were at the beginning. Fascinating to see how the regulator works and your explanations were a perfect accompaniment. I certainly will check the other web sites, thanks again, his was really cool and interesting, can't wait until the next video, see ya!

Wow! I would think Air Arms should consider the rather small manufacturing cost of adding this. I hope you sent them this video. I looked up that rifle in the USA is $1599.00 I am just a beginner but a $399.00 Marauder might not be quite as good but I am thinking of getting a regulator and a tank extension for a .25 cal Marauder to improve its shot count. The 50 ft lbs is amazing for a .25 cal . Its a shame these crazy countries limit you guys to 12 ft lbs. Awesome video series and great info on this as usual!

I'd love to see a follow-up video on this after you have put a few shots(2000+) through it to see if your string smooths out. My experience is in tuning paintball markers and the principles are the same. After 2000-2500 shots on a new regulator for a paintball marker they would smooth out and produce more consistent strings. Great stuff!

There is something strange. When I fitted a regulator (not lanes) on my AA S500 I Got 20 shots in 920 fps (pressure 210-135) with the original hammer!!! But I fitted and an inertia hammer, shelf made, and then I got 42 shots in 920 fps (pressure 210-135). You get 34 shots with the original hammer in the same pressure. How is this possible?
@AirArmsHuntingSA9 жыл бұрын
Wow that is strange. I don't know how to answer that. I am very interested in getting an inertia hammer though...
@nikosdailianis67329 жыл бұрын
+AirArmsHuntingSA The inertia hammer will increase your shots for sure!! May be 50%... But I don' t know if you can buy it somewhere. I can help you with photos of the dimensions and the parts for DIY (in a machine shop).
@huntjunky19 жыл бұрын
+Nikos Dailianis Quite a curiosity...keep in mind that fitted with a regulator, the dynamics completely change. The relationship between the regulator pressure setting and hammer tension/duration should be tuned through experimentation/graphing. When the proper combination of settings is met you will see, as stated, a near 50% increase in shot count, at your preferred velocity. This is typical with all guns and regulator combinations (Bellville or coil spring type) as opposed to the same gun, unregulated. At Robert's prices it just doesn't make sense, not to throw one in, especially with resultant ES typically reduced by 1/2.
@nikosdailianis67329 жыл бұрын
+huntjunky1 You are right, but i am talking about the same (approximately) adjustment. The regulator pressure was 130 bar. The guns are the same. Where is the differense? I also think that you cannot adjust the regulator pressure very high (160 bar) to find a good relationship, because you will lose a lot of shots. On the other hand, an inertia hammer can reduse the overflow of the air, when it hits to the air pin. This is possible and in low pressures because there is only one hit to the air pin.
@huntjunky19 жыл бұрын
+Nikos Dailianis I can only suggest that there must be something faulty with the installation or the regulator. 20 shots on a fill is something you would expect out of a .30 caliber or even a .357. It is a conundrum, given the info you have provided, especially when you consider the shot count having been reduced, by installing a regulator and all other aspects being equal. I have only seen this scenario when the breather hole is not provided or the incorrect return spring, in the regulator, is used. The inertia hammers are a great concept and are effective in application, as you have noted. It sounds like there may be an inordinate amount of hammer bounce, with the original hammer and tuning, as the inertia hammer is providing an inordinate improvement to shot count. Typically, this improvement equates to something like 5-10% rather than your 105% improvement. Hope you get her figured out. :-)

Seems like you managed to get a great result from this, I'd love to add a regulator to my Air ranger 40 ft/lbs but there isn't a very discreet way of doing it with the bottle on there. Bit annoying when you have to keep an eye on the air gauge and then estimating where the pellet is gonna be at far distances.

Once the regulator is in then a person need only adjust the pressure for best accuracy.. Too little or too much pressure can alter accuracy.. Any pellet or bullet has it's best accuracy when the pellet weight and fit is optimal with the rate of twist of the barrel and matched to the correct velocity (pressure).. Most all pellets and bullets can improve in accuracy by simply adjusting the pressures (power of the push).. Not to say that every pellet can shot with the best accuracy - only to say that every pellet can be made to shoot a little more accurately.. Sometimes the 2nd or 3rd most accurate pellet in the beginning, can end up being the most accurate with a little tweaking of the pressures.. Powder burners - hand loaders and muzzle loaders know this very well where a change of even 1 grain higher or lower of powder (varying the pressures), and affect accuracy.. The same holds true with air rifles - what drives a pellet or bullet - gas pressures.. (side note - also, the speed by which the pressures are delivered - slow or fast), some times slowing the pressure delivery can improve accuracy (restricting the fast delivery of pressures (powder burners use slow burning powder)), so increasing the transfer port may in some cases be working against accuracy, because the slug of air may be delivered to quickly and not a smooth even push that gradually increases.. (pellets may behave better by starting out slow and increase speed traveling down the barrel vs a big blast jump start, which may hyper shock the pellet before it even starts to move..

0:54 its the same on the 410 but all you need to do is count your magasines, its quite easy, 6 mags and refil, the 510 regulated has the anti tamper moved up higher on the breach and airarms have done away with the m3 thread for the grug screw, they now have about a 3mm thread of m3 grub and the rest is m4 so with the regulated gun you are limited to how far you can tune your regulated gun as the grub runs out of thread and will strip the thread in the m3 then your screwed. you are far better off fitting a lane regulator as you have an m3 anti tamper thread all the way down to the transfer port so its easier to set your fp to a legal limit. rob lane regulators are top notch, i got one in my tdr 410 its a total different gun.

Hey Matt...Excellent presentation...I can't remember if Robert's regulators are tunable for regulated pressure (yours being at 135 bar) but if so, maybe you could experiment with this setting (115 -120 bar). I found with my guns, that this feature coordinated with spring tension, is crucial in squeezing out maximum performance. With some tweeking, I obtained 10 more shots at the same ES and maintained my preferred velocity identical to yours. I have an Edgun .25 long that I've spent way too much time dinking around with :-), but it now produces 63 shots per fill with an ES of 11 fps from a fill pressure of 210 bar to 115 bar maintaining a velocity average of 913 fps w/ 24.9 grain JSBs. Welcome to the world of regulated guns...anything else just doesn't make sense IMHO. I hope Robert is giving you some deep discounts after this demonstration of marketing skills, in his behalf!!! :-)

I can't believe that pcp manufacturers still make rifles that aren't equiped with a reg at the factory. Only Kalibrgun, BSA and FX come to mind, that fit them, and only the more expensive models for the last two. Kalibrgun has only expensive rifles. Heard some rumours that Hatsan will be doing it to in the near future. That would be a great thing as pcp's need one for consistent shooting. Anyway great video as always but the end is a bit too commercial orientated for my taste.
