I thought I had I interstycial cystitis for the last ten years with stress the trigger. The last three months I have been in excruciating pain. I even thought I was passing kidney stones. The burning felt like my bladder was a raw inflamed sore. I prayed to Jesus and this exercise has been healing me. I could not be more grateful. I had no idea my muscles were staying so clenched. I keep catching myself now after trying this. I literally keep doing this all day and the pain keeps residing. I have felt so much better. I so hope this helps someone. I would never ever dreamed this was my issue.

Yes I can't recommend enough a GOOD Pelvic floor therapist. I've been diagnosed with IC for two decades and I am comfortable with that diagnosis given my situation, but I really think most of the pain is from pelvic floor dysfunction and the constant fear and tension of chronic pain stemming from a months long infection in my early teens. Yes my bladder is scarred, but most of the pain is a trained response from those months of peeing fire and even once I was cleared of the infection, it never stopped. So I stayed clenched when that pain was evidence as I was scared a flare would happen. So pelvic floor therapy, imo, should be a primary treatment for patients with IC.

So glad it was helpful! Pelvic floor exercises can often be difficult to teach because it's something that has to be felt and isn't visual. We put a lot of effort in making sure the instructions are clear and easy to understand. Thank you for the kind comment :)

This video is really helpful at explaining how to engage your pelvic floor with exercise. My only question is why you suggest to engage on the in breath as all other yogies and pelvic floor pts say on exhale as that is when the pelvic floor naturally rises slightly otherwise you are fighting against it’s desire to push down- or is that the idea?

i was doing wim hof breathing exercise while sitting on a stability disc which caused tight abs/lower body. That in conjunction with years of weighted oblique crunches almost daily and too many dietary oxalates caused bladder pain. What to do? happy baby, childs pose, splits stretches and minimal straight crunches daily, low oxalates has helped muscles in abs not to be so tight. Also wearing a mask was hindering my belly breathing. Awareness of breathing and the pelvic floor is a learned skill. I will now do tummo breathing training instead on floor so that breathing is in line with proper pelvic floor movement during breathing

Is it normal to feel a pulse down there while using the towel? How often/long should we do this? I plan to do this all day everyday since I work from home…until my pelvic floor softens.

what made me understand was realizing that holding your pee mid-stream is the opposite of relaxing...so when you relax your pelvic floor, the pee comes out and it's kind of the same with the breathing out technique, you have to do the opposite of holding your pee. does it make sense?

Why was that the picture for painful sex? Why is painful sex always depicted as turmoil for the penis having partner when it's supposed to be about the person with the problem with insertion? Why is it when it comes to sex, all of the focus is on male partners when the issue is supposed to be about what the female/ Volva partner is going through? Some of us have vaginismus because of the social pressure of the hyper focusing on male pleasure aka the patriarchy!
