Not only will I listen to the band I’m seeing in concert on the way to see them, I will look up the setlist ahead of time, make a playlist of it on Spotify, and listen to it on repeat in the days and weeks leading up to the show.

I resonate with Eric's analogy of going to a restaurant with an empty stomach... Even though I know the songs, I find the excitement bigger of not knowing the exact setlist, for example and that adds to the thrill of singing along only at the concert :D

I’m totally with Colleen, wear the band T shirt to the concert. I’ve never liked that “rule”. I think it’s much more try hard to intentionally not wear something so you don’t look like TOO much of a fan. It all comes back to society just doesn’t like seeing people passionately enjoy things.

My husband is a musician and always tells me that, but it doesn't make sense to me either. I'm like, so I can wear it if I bought it at that show but not if it's from another tour?🤷‍♀️ He did say, that if you design your own for a concert, that's cool. I don't get so many of the unwritten rules in life. Thank God he's my "social service animal" 😂 I am his "form filler service animal" so we make a great team. Hey! fully agree with colleen’s frustration that people are making fun of ariana + cynthia’s emotional interviews. they have every right to cry and be proud of this amazing movie. the people criticizing them crying is like criticizing someone for crying after getting a masters degree, having a child, or getting married. it’s a huge accomplishment that evokes huge emotions!

It’s so interesting that Erik says he wouldn’t want to listen to a band on the way to their concert. I’m so with you Colleen. If I have an 4 hour drive to a concert, I’ll listen to the artist the entire way there. I feel like Erik also wouldn’t want to go to the same concert twice? If it’s a concert I love, I’d truly go every night if I could.

I always wear a t-shirt of the band I’m going too and yes you have to totally listen to the music on the way there. I use to always bite the top off the deodorant. Until one day I just was pushing it up and realized that was so much better than pulling it off with my teeth. 😂😂

Oh I absolutely listen to the soundtrack on the way to a movie or show! It builds the excitement of what you are about to see. I will binge the music for weeks prior to seeing it, but once it’s over, I don’t listen to it again for ages 🤷🏻‍♀️. It’s like a mini obsession and then I’m over it 😂

I’m with Colleen there with the listening to music, when I saw Taylor I had allll her songs in repeat I literally listened to her for almost 27,000 minutes last year because I needed to make sure I was ready for any surprise song lol. I also look up their setlist and make a playlist and listen to it non stop until I go 😂

I agree with Erik. I grew up going to a lot of shows with friends in my teens and twenties. We didn't want to listen to the same bands on the way there or back because we wanted to experience it in the moment at the show.

I watched an interview with Cynthia and Ari and the interviewer read a comment from a Mom that said she took her young daughter to see Wicked, and she said “Elphaba really wasn’t wicked Momma” and the emotions that hit Cynthia’s face that instant, immediately had her in tears, which of course had me in tears and Ariana was dabbing away her tears for her! It was such a beautiful Moment and I wish I could find the whole interview!! Ugh… ugly sobbing!!!

Definitely! Ppl also don’t understand that they have to perform and be “very dramatic” to properly portray the characters on screen for hourssss… no matter what you do if you consistently practice anything for HOURS it’s gonna be hard to turn it off … that’s why a lot of actors practice method acting.. on top of the excitement of the project being completed.

Re the music & band shirt comment, Erik is 100% correct!!! I think it depends on your music taste. People into mainstream pop will wear t shirts and listen to the music on the way to a concert, but rock/punk kids would die of shame before they did that and you’d be seen to be a fake fan of the music if you did either of those things.

Disclaimer I don't care what others do at all no judgement. I don't wear band t-shirts to concerts not my style I get cute to go to a show. But I listen to the band before the show and after. My friends and I call it concert day crazy. Get ready listening to the band and get hyped. I proved the guy wrong never opened a deodorant with my teeth, not once.

I echo everything Colleen said about the Cynthia and Ariana crying thing. I think it's so cute bc it shows how deeply they bonded and grew as people while making the film, and it's so girlhood. Anyone mocking them is just a hater who isn't comfortable with their emotions imo and I do agree there's misogynistic intent behind some of it.

I 100 percent agree with Colleen! Listening to an artist I'm about to see in concert hypes me up to see them perform live. I always do that. And then I'll listen to them a bunch after the concert, too. I've been listening to the original Wicked soundtrack non-stop and I'm not going to see the movie untill this weekend. It's making me so excited to see it. Have you read the book? I read it before seeing the musical when it was traveling across the country and the book is really good.

Yes to listening to the artists music all day/week/month before the concert.. ALSO, i LOVE after the concert when you are in traffic trying to get out of the parking lot and the local RADIO STATION knows that the concert just ended so they are playing a medley of songs from the artist that you just saw. and EVERYONE in the traffic is blasting the same radio station. It is the BEST!!! (maybe that is just an Australian thing though? 😍

Erik, I am with you on the not listening for weeks up until the concert. I want to have the live version fresh and live. I would get almost a burnt out feeling if I listen beforehand. So you are not alone. I t think everything depends on your personality - no one is wrong! What you like, or what I like, other folks might not and ALL of that is okay! COLLEEN!!!! I have never been more on your side for an episode! Yes people need to RELAX on Ariana and Cynthia. I’ve cried just as much if not more than them for the press and events leading up to this movie. I was BAWLING in the theater the second “No One Mourns the Wicked” started. I cry listening to the soundtrack. People that aren’t theater kids will never understand how deeply this movie goes for a lot of us. And YES I am absolutely listening to the artist before a concert, and I absolutely listened to wicked for WEEKS leading up to the release and on the car ride to the theater! And YES YES YES WHY are people judging what other people are wearing to concerts!? Never have I looked at someone at a concert and thought “wow, what a loser who would wear that?”! People who do that are losers. Let people love things deeply and be passionate about it!

24:17 Colleen’s is 100% correct because it’s completely different between the movie and the soundtrack like certain sounds like for instance, in defying gravity in the soundtrack you don’t hear like the light shattering you don’t hear like the wind it’s like different like sound effects all that stuff it’s different seeing it in person versus hearing it on the soundtrack

So the men chapstick thing.... My thought is that men do it that way so it doesn't look like they are putting on lipstick or so they don't look feminine while applying it.. It's a "manly" way of putting on chapstick.
