I think you are missing the point. I think the problem with Ford is their responses to issues, not the issues themselves. They have an APPALLING track record in Australia of not responding in an reasonable, ethical or even LEGAL way to customer concerns. If you want to move the conversation on, your series should focus on the experiences of customers - not the vehicles. You say Ford have changed their culture - what evidence is there to support that view? What were the experiences of those 9 customers like in getting their issues sorted with the Everest? Globally, Ford has an issue with warranty claims and customer service problems. Maybe they are working to address this, nothing in your report provides actual evidence this is the case. To my mind, based on past evidence, buying any Ford is a lottery, yes, there is a very good chance you may not have an issue. The problem is, if you do have an issue, then how will Ford treat you?

That is true to a large extent - Ford do have to be "pushed" to do the right thing which they should be well advanced from by now, but Toyota is the same. Toyota will not admit faults (DPFs, airbox, etc) until the lawyers for the class actions knock on their corporate door, and their design & manufacturing faults are just as numerous. It's just the rusted on Toyota devotees are in permanent denial. And the 300 LC? Well the Hot V donk is a huge gamble in our conditions, the excess oil use is concerning from new, the resin coated steel pistons to handle the excess heat? How long is that going to last in the real world? Just the service costs (12 month Everest service interval Vs 6 month Toyota) is significant in addition to the relative purchase cost differences.

13 months of back and forth fighting ford after MULTIPLE major issues with my 21 Everest. Customers shouldn’t have to fight to damn hard for something under warranty. Replacement vehicle arriving in a couple of weeks. Ford Australia we’re good to deal with but Rey on the dealerships. But initially was treated like I had 2 heads and no idea what I was talking about….some dealerships you hear are amazing, others unfortunately are really ruining Ford’s reputation in the Australian market, which was my experience!

I mean, ethical they are not. They have never been that. Classic example is the Ford Pinto where they sold record numbers in the first few years and they continued to do so while they there was an issue with the vehicle. Just an extract from an article "Part of the court’s reasoning was that Ford knew about the dangers, but pushed the Pinto onto an unwitting consumer market anyway. The Ford Company’s cold cost analysis revealed that debuting the hazardous Pinto as-is and simply paying for subsequent lawsuits would be cheaper than making expensive safety modifications." So they decided to sell it for a couple of years thereafter and just paying out the families in subsequent lawsuits... I remember this case in one of my subjects at Varsity and then with the Kuga incidents, basically the same thing. Ford knew of the dangers, didn't want to take the product of the market, took 3 months to make a statement (was such a PC answer, no guilt acknowledgement, just saying that they have been made aware of this issue and they will look into it...) and more than a year later they did a recall. Bloody hell, EVERYBODY knew about it from all over the world from the first incident (in the end 47 Kugas have caught alight) and they took their darn time to fix the issues. I try to keep up with the reviews and customer experiences as I can and it doesn't seem that Ford has changed any of their past behavior/culture whatever you want to call it. Those 9 customers (and it will definitely be more, cause most people don't have the time, money or willingness to take on Ford in a dispute) would probably have had such a horrible wasted time with Ford that they have decided to be vocal about it as this is the only way these days that something gets done if you bad mouth them online. Every time I hope when Ford brings out a new vehicle that they would be nice competition and that people would be happy with the vehicle, and then you can read any 4x4 community forum in SA, and there would be a dozen of issues there even though Toyota sells more vehicles in a year (I drive Isuzu so no Toyota fan boy). Then I get reminded with how Ford treated their customers in the past and the warning lights come on.

@@theseph28yes maybe, and maybe this apply to a lot of people in Australia. Where I stay I am considered slight above average in terms of the amount of driving I do. My actual car is a jeep wrangler that I own since Jan 2014 and I have 182000 km. What I want to say is that a lot of people will not even reach 200k km in the lifetime of the car in most of the countries so what happen at 200k km is not their problem. First of all love your video's mate but this one is misleading consumers. For 80k we should be getting better than an alpha release version of a car, put it back in the oven as its still runny inside! Personally, as a ford ranger wildtrack with premium pack owner my issues with not only my truck as a product but the dealership has been hell and taken away my new car experience. The amount of time my ute has been in fords care for one thing or another is more than I have had it at home almost. . From being told many times that the vibration issues i experienced between 50 and 70 kmph and being told it was my AT tires LOL replaced my tail shaft and the issue got even worse, they ended up having to send my driveline away to a specialist who actually resolved the issue. Third party company for the WIN . Ford service manager tells me that ford has washed all hands pretty much of all accessories and calibration before even finding out if I had actually purchased bull bar with them when I bought the vehicle as they had major calibration issues after fitting my accessories then also. . Electrical gremlins galore especially if it rains sensors flagging like advanced lighting features unavailable, collision avoidance unavailable etc etc etc list goes on on that front. . When arb fitted my bull bar they did not fit my inner wheel guard properly again and it rubbed on my tires at near full lock at which point after having to write many disappointing emails to ford they finally said we will fix it and decided instead of actually looking at the mounting and moving it 1 cm back to its original position they would drill a hole in the guard and use a zip tie, NICE because thats what you call as a 80k car fix what a joke. . Underbody weld seams rusting and paint flaking off mainly on the lower left hand control arm and other parts of the underside of the car paint flaking away. Ford trying to tell me it's stone chips hahahaha the ute has less than 3000km on clock and has never left the black top and the issue follows the welds. I don't think thats possible behind bash-plate also. To say i'm dissatisfied and disappointed with not only the product but ford service in general for over 80k is an understatement, taking the approach of the customer is always wrong or doesn't know is just pathetic and they should be ashamed. Honestly my story is a long one and includes SOOOOOOOO many more issues with both product and service I'm sure by this point I have made it clear that if I had known this was going to happen I would have bought something else. Screw the tech as its only good if it works correctly. And the final nail in the coffin is that Ford reps told me that “they only replacing tail shafts that come in from customers complaining” and even then the customer has to fight just to tell them something is not correct. The tail shaft issue is far bigger than just 1000 of them mate believe me and I fill sorry for all those poor soles that think there car is running fine because they don’t know better or have been told by someone that has not even tested the car that its normal.

My evaluation with these issues would be 60k for this vehicle at best the stress and time is not worth it and warranty seems to only be a selling point more than helpful.

Wow that's horrible. Maybe if your financial situation allows put it for sale. You might lose a few grand but I think you'll feel better. I've personally owned lots of cars brand new and the Japanese made cars are best. The fit n finish, reliability and the engineering of each component is robust. So got off the phone today with ford Gold Cost and they want to give me a full refund and said they don't want to offer me another care as they "cannot guarantee that it won't have issues or meet the quality standard" they then proceeded to tell me that all the rust along the weld lines ONLY wont be warranted and that zip ties are appropriate fixes for rubbing guards. They said they want to avoid consumer law and legal action so would like to refund me the full price but this does not cover my labour hours the accessories I purchased yet to be put on or the insurance i paid upfront for on the vehicle. This obviously wont cover all the bloody stress and bull shit I have had to fight with them around on other issues which turned out to be actual issues and now this is basically telling me the warranty they have is worth squat and wont fix anything. Basically you don't have warranty they would rather just buy the vehicle back off you and resell it when I can most likely sell it myself for probably more than I bought it given the wait time is over 18 months. Some decisions to be made. 1. Legal action = most likely 2. Refund call it a day and buy any other brand but ford 3. Sell the car privately 4 . Out of pocket fix the issues myself.

Years ago, when my car had a problem, it was almost always attributed to a mechanical issue, the problem was obvious. If I was not able to repair the problem, I was usually able to patch up the problem enough to get me home. Now we have manufacturers using a myriad of electronically controlled 'things', many of these 'things' don't even require any driver input. My problem is when these electronic things do go wrong, where do I look to find the problem and if I do find it how do I fix it enough to get home?

There are well documented issues with both the engine and transmission in the US, which I'm hoping Ford's fixed for these models. V6 diesel, the design of which is over 20 years old now, has had a troubled past (in landrover), so hopefully Ford's fixed those design issues. An Aussie mate cancelled his order after a guy he worked with (and early adopter) had a number of quality issues with his and their work mates branded it 'the work shop queen'. Here in the US we wont get the diesels and are getting the TT 2.7 V6 gas/peterol engine, which has been a good engine for Ford here.

They now say its shock absorbers not rebounding correctly. Someone within ford admitted the same issue. We have engaged Fair Trading Qld as we’re about to seek legal action accordingly. The biggest issue I'm facing is the fact that Ford Aus and the dealers don't know their product's workings. So all the random and small tech issues are unresolved still. There seems to be a lack of technical ability among the local Ford teams. An inability to fault find, diagnose and rectify. It's just spray and pray with random assemblies, modules and parts. Or "let's try to reset the system/car and see what happens". That's the biggest issue Ford have.

All new cars have issues. Toyota and Isuzu fan boys need to look more deeply into the reliability issues popping up, which are major mechanical issues compared to the electrical glitches of the Fords which can be fixed with a simple software update. Everest seems to be the more reliable of the new Fords. You are correct in saying the media exaggerates stories, plus Toyota fans who have never driven a Ford like to sh*t on the brand 😂 Every new car I have owned from different car manufacturers (4 different vehicles) has been plagued with issues. Dealer response also varies. You can't really win with any brand unfortunately.

What's wrong with us Aussies? Why are we buying expensive B-Grade vehicles, and let's not make excuses for poor refinement. Also design is obviously subjective but this thing is dull in places and the headlights must've been designed by a drunk. Buy a Ford and you buy trouble, this is not new, it's been this way for decades.

Where's Jacob? Well said, Matt. Reliability issues have indeed been blown out of all proportion. I'm very much biased, though, I'm unashamedly a Ford fan and have owned nothing but Ford in the 24 years that I've been driving and owning cars. But the way I see it is this: every car will require maintenance at some point. Everything will break, it's a fact of life. So I'd much rather spend my money on something that I enjoy driving, looking at, and sitting in, even if it may need more expensive maintenance than one of its competitors.
@nickc6882
@nickc6882 10 ай бұрын
Reliability issues are not blown out of proportion because the comparison is between brands. People bitch excessively - the research shows you are 9 times more likely to report a bad experience than a good one. But they do it regardless of brand. If you want facts and objective opinions then look at the JD power reliability surveys. 10,000 owners after 3 years. Reporting on a standardised research report. That will tell you a lot. Secondly look at ACCC actions against manufacturers and distributors. Ford have issues with gearboxes and electrics and they have been held to account on a number of occasions. The 10R80 gearbox overheats. A cooling fan would have solved the problem. They made a decision to not do that to save cost. I love the Everest. It's the perfect car for what I need, and there is no real alternative, but I won't buy one, because the chances of an issue are high and I don't trust the dealers to fix it.

I thing the biggest problem with Ford is the warranty service,probably the worst in Australia ,Ford care is totally bull…the people responding to warranty issues have not mechanic knowledge at all,you can not ask for supervisor or someone above them. I have 2021 Everest basecamp,since first day I have problem with tailgate,automatic opening never works,the back door were closing itself,automatic push button on the key and inside the car very often doesn’t work , all sensors switching on with out reason,staying on when is raining or after washing a car.for 2 years nothing has been done,7 months ago I have opened the case with Ford AUSTRALIA when the back door failed to open,since then my car is mostly in dealer sometimes for 4 weeks,they still cannot fix the issue,they have replaced all the parts involved with the issue and still doesn’t work,so I’m going between the he hire company and the dealer a few time a month.ford prefers to pay for hiring vehicle and taxi than take seriously take care of the issue.obviously they have refused replacement vehicle twice. Currently my car is still in workshop.

I own a ranger and even with the lights off there’s still lights on which really annoys me. I suspect it’s the same with these Everests. All vehicle manufacturers went away from the square wind drag vehicles 30 years ago. I can only think that this super ugly and uneconomical shape is the reinvention of the wheel from yet another fresh from the textbook uni student. Moving the cruise controls to the left side of the steering wheel is another WTF move. Why try to fix something that’s not broken!!!

I picked up my new XLT V6 ranger in december 2022. I regularly tow heavy for work{3 ton} and it is by far and away the best tow vehicle I've had! The quietness and smoothness of the power delivery is next level. And when not towing it regularly does under 9ltr/100. They put a tailshaft in it @ 15000k service due to a small intermitted vibration. No drama- just done. Other than that its been fantastic so far and I would highly recommend. Just as an aside there was a big class action for Hilux reliability not that long ago also!

Look at the comments in here to the comments in the Isuzu. Ford couldn't even run a Bath let alone there cars. This vehicle is a laughing stock to most of australia. I see 10 MUX's on the road to every 1 Everest. Even guys from Patriot chose the MUX for a sweet but simple 4x4 build. And there known for ridicules builds. Just sounds like a lot a fake pro's to a lot of scary con's. And i might add from the comments i can see, The Yanks hate them.
