Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand, wrist, and it can sometimes affect the forearm and elbow area. Sometimes pain that presents as carpal tunnel syndrome can be coming from the elbow, shoulder, or neck, so check with your doctor or physical therapist and get a proper diagnosis, especially if traditional treatment is not helping.
Stretching the wrist area on the palm side, or the wrist flexors, is a great way to loosen up the muscles and tendons that run through the carpal tunnel. This can be done with a prayer stretch as well as a wrist flexor stretch which can be increased in intensity by stretching the thumb as well.
Gliding the finger tendons can help break up adhesions that might form in the carpal tunnel area. This helps increase circulation to the area and move out inflammation that might be causing scar tissue.
Gliding the median nerve can also be helpful in breaking up adhesions and improving general movement.

Thank you! I have carpal tunnel, and hand/wrist arthritis. Bird dogs, down dogs, planks, even wall pushups now hurt. Hopefully these help. They did feel good.

I had really bothersome carpal tunnel symptoms that were unrelieved by exercises and splint etc. I saw one ortho dr. who only offered cortisone (which can really be detrimental) or surgery. Then found a sports medicine doc who offered hydro nerve dissection. This was amazing! He used U/S to guide while he injected IV fluid (and some lidocaine so it didn't hurt) in and around the nerve to loosen it from the surrounding tendons etc. I was amazed watching the whole thing on the U/S screen. It took about 5 minutes. My symptoms were relieved within hours and haven't returned. It has been almost a year now. Thank you for your exercise instruction. I follow them just to keep my hands and arms in healthy shape! I love your instruction...and your pups 🙂

Hello Dr jo, my wrist was cut by a glass so multiple flexor tendons and median nerve was injured a month ago and then i had a surgery, and now i have difficulty in extension and flexion so i wanna ask you should i follow all these exercises or not and kindly if you tell me some precautions too i shall be very thankfull to you.❤

I broke my foot 2 months ago and my wrists are very sore. I often have sharp wrist pains when grabbing my scooter handles or when using my crutches. This felt good. I wi be repeating this one! Thank you.
