The Gospel of Thomas is perhaps the most important non-canonical piece of (ancient) Scripture. As for the "Gospel of Judas," I can promise you this: Yeshua One with Christ ("Jesus Christ") was the most joyful man to ever walk the face of this Earth. He was nearly always smiling and laughing, and this was simply not mentioned in the canonical books, for whatever reason. He even smiled upon the cross; quite the opposite of Mel Gibson's portrayal. Because, He knows what this world does not, although He told the world quite clearly. But few have ears to hear. I am a prophet of GOD; the prophesied return of the biblical prophet Elijah. I have come to re-state the "Good News" of Jesus Christ, which has been corrupted and misrepresented. Listen, when GOD says "good news," GOD means GOOD NEWS! Want to know more? Click and ye shall find. (I don't receive KZbin comment notifications, but I'm easy enough to contact.)

By the way, Gnosticism was indeed the original form of Christianity. Gnosis is knowledge gained on a personal basis. And one of the greatest errors was to create a group-consensus, formal type of religion. Thus sayeth the LORD: "Formal religion is a contradiction in terms." One must find Truth for oneself, else one is seeking something other than Truth. For this is POLITICS; not religion. And politics is not the road to Truth. Quite the opposite. Also, Judas turned Jesus in for only one reason: to hasten the promised coming of the Kingdom of GOD. Like many people to this day, he didn't understand that "The Kingdom of GOD comes not with observation...the Kingdom of GOD is within you." Jesus came to remind we-who have-forgotten WHO WE ARE. Good news like you can't even imagine. No, Judas didn't understand. Like us, he didn't understand that a man's efforts to make his own will be done is the ORIGINAL ERROR ("sin") that caused our fall into this world of separation and limitation. And Judas committed suicide when GOD's will was done instead of his - not realizing that the crucifixion was indeed GOD's will, so that all the Earth would remember that the Perfect Man gladly accepted GOD's will as His own. "Shall I not drink from the cup the Father has given me?" And THIS is the long-sought Holy Grail; the fact that GOD's will IS done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

My read of it is that Judas is preferred by Jesus because Judas is willing to serve his destiny despite the judgement he'd receive in history. To willingly serve one's role in God's play, doing what needs to be done to complete a greater destiny regardless of how others see it, could be seen as being more holy than blindly following worldly rules and conceptions. This is true martyrdom. This is why Jesus laughs at the other apostles who are praying over bread. They can only see what is right in the eyes of Man, but Jesus prefers Judas because he is willing to do what is right/necessary in the eyes of God. The crucifixion and resurrection had to happen. Judas was willing to follow God's plan despite the cost to himself, and thus he is preferred and closer to God.

@@louistech112It’s not that the Christianity we know is completely “false” it’s that the Christianity we know became an empire religion which claimed a monopoly on truth which restricted personal revelation. The first thing the new Roman Catholic Church did was commit a genocide against the Manichaeans who also worshiped Jesus, Buddha, Zarathustra, and Mani as great spiritual beings. This monopolistic Christianity is the falsity, it is an idolatry. Christianity and Buddhism are very similar, transcend the lower powers, sin in Christianity and ignorance in Buddhism. There is great value in overcoming the lower powers, or at least gaining insight into it, and to forgive ourselves and others for our human condition.

The Gospel Of Judas is likely one of many early answers to the theological conundrum of free will. Since Jesus was sent knowingly for a sacrifice like unto the Lamb Of God, this became a form of theological heresy within Judaism(and continues to be so, as well as in Islamic theology). Since the concept of Jesus' sacrifice is key and central to Christian doctrine, it would make God look evil(as portrayed by gnostic thinkers), and Judas' betrayal being a paradox of evil which was a necessary good to fulfil the divine will of God. Thus one could conclude from the gnostic viewpoint that Judas was not a true traitor, that he was the necessary piece in this struggle of a world ruled by darkness.

I’ve never understood why Judas was so reviled by modern religious scholars. The entire purpose of Christ was to die for the world’s sins, so it was inevitable that someone would need to betray him. Jesus never cursed Judas, in fact he knew exactly what Judas was doing. And it’s the very text about Judas committing suicide over his remorse that has lead Christian’s to believe suicide is wrong and sinful. Interesting dichotomy about this character.

Mine has lead me to numerous canons covering various religions. When asked, I am more spiritual the religious, I see the Creator within not the biblical version taught. Since the existence of man, man has always associated an earthly experience with a divine. Thankfully we are in a time where one can explore various religious texts without being persecuted for it. Note this is just my opinion and mine alone. I’ve read some ill stated comments on other channels which were totally uncalled for. But you cannot betray God if you love God which he did love Him, he followed him. That did not come without risk. He was not there for the fun. The bible always asks the reader to look at oneself. You are the image of God. Meaning the living symbol like a word made flesh. So judge not. Judas was not carrying out his own will, the question is was he SELF AWARE. When carrying it out. Are YOU self aware when you read or do you simply keep it a symbol at an arms length.

I know God, I walk in covenant with God and I Love God. I fear God as well and that is the beginning of Love because until you fear disobeying God and causing God to look upon you in shame so you feel horrible then you can not love Him. I started this walk when I was 32, to look for God. I started to actually begin to find God when I was 39 and sealed myself to God as the gospel tells us to, those of us who listen to the gospel teacher and not the ones who came after him, know to take up the commandments of God and to seek out our roots back to Abraham and to Moses and Yehoshua and the prophets so we become firm in knowledge of what GOD ALONE asked of us. It took me several years of fighting sin and the devil by obeying God. I fought the sin out of me with God's help, by his instructions in the written word. It is a very narrow road and as the mattan/Matthew gospel says very few will find it. We have to fight Satan and the whole world that serves him in sin in order to get out and the one who will help is God alone because we can't trust anyone else. I am with God, God provides for myself and my family and yes there is absolutely evidence BUT not until you absolutely come clean, in thought, word and deed, the absolute opposite of all the lying religions. The gospel was sent down to free us from sin by sending us to our teacher and if you reject it then you are freed from God into sin perpetually and to death spiritually from God which as I can now see is absolutely hell on earth, your light you pretend to have is absolutely darkness caused by your unwillingness to even try to obey God. I speak to 99% of the population. If you can't put everyone first after God and stop yourself from all sin THEN YOUR NOT WORTHY AND YOU ARE ALREADY FINISHED BEFORE YOU EVEN STARTED. So come out of all sun, take up the commandments and begin your battle, call to GOD ALONE, LEARN YOUR ROOTS, BE GOD'S PEOPLE. FIGHT SATAN WHO IS THE SINNERS INNER VOICE, THE CONSCIENCE THAT LEADS YOU TO HURT YOU, that's not you, it's Satan the deceiver. If you come to God and pass the trials cleansing yourself by obedience then GOD WILL BECOME YOUR CONSCIENCE AND YOU WILL LOVE GOD AND HATE SIN, SATAN WILL FLEE FROM YOU. SO there it is Peace, the ball in in your court Be wary of this world, it is the valley of death, you need God's light and God doesn't dwell with sin or sinners. Not until they begin the journey to stop sin. 😀😉

It has to happen. Trust me". That would be so hard to do... like.. everything inside says it's a bad thing to do.. but Judas had to have extreme faith in order to carry the divine plan.. @@Greekhalo2010 this is true in Luke.. and Luke only.. the only other of the 4 gospels that suggest real betrayal is mathew.. by saying he went to see what he could get for turning Jesus over.. but it's "the gospel according to".. so this is what an imperfect, non omniscient man saw from his own point of view. All it takes is one conversation that judas and Jesus had in private to totally change perspective on the incident. If Jesus and judas had a conversation planning the crucifixion that Luke didn't know about, it may appear to him that "the devil entered judas".. In the beginning was the word. And the word was God. And the word was with God... i think the most accurate way to look at this is to replace "the word" with "truth" . The "gospels" did not exist at this time.. ya know? But truth did. So I really need to do more research and comparing... honestly never realized that it said "the devil entered judas".. in Luke... but... for the past 6 to 10 months my guts been associating Luke with Lucifer... idk why I've gotten that feeling... no real reason for it... but the feeling remains...

You are forgetting the fact that Jesus specifically pointed out at the Passover dinner that one of his disciples will betray him. It's not betrayal if you were specifically obeying Jesus specific commandment Judas even killed himself out of guilt for doing what he did and he went back to the people he saw Jesus to and try to give the money back Jesus also even said it would have been better if Judas had not been born. Why would Jesus say that if he specifically asked Judah to betray him? It's also important to remember the fact that the Old Testament told a prophecy about the Messiah being sold for 30 shekels of silver.

I think the pivot for me was when Judas was initiator of the sacrifice of Jesus. Yes, Jesus was the sacrificial lamb, but for Judas to imply that he was the one that saved Jesus is also implying that he is the savior. If we are reasoning correctly, God the Father, the 1st part of the Trinity, is still the the one who ALLOWS the sacrificing of His Son, even if it was from the hands from Ciaiphas/Judas/the public ,who thought him as a blasphemer. The reason is because God the Father allowed these people to be...ipsum esse subsitens, and practice their free will, remember. This doesn't mean they are right. What also fascinates me is that is almost like the story of Abram and Isaac prefigure this narrative Judas is saying. In my eyes, the story if Isaac and Abram is to show that no man will need to sacrifice their own son to gain favor with God. God intervening at the end was a way to say "yo Abram, you aren't God, of course I won't make you do this. This is a job for me." Judas is the man who goes through with the sacrifice. If he was Abram, Isaac would be dead due to the hubristic idea he had of his role in the creation of salvation. no...just no.

The 'gospel of Judas' was just some 'pulp fiction' of the day. There was was probably tons of it around at the time. But in the real Gospel account, Judas betrayed Jesus. In today's language, a person that will coldly betray someone for personal gain would be classified as a 'psychopath'. The word 'psychopath' is the modern term for 'devil'. Before the term was invented, anyone with psychopathic tendencies would be called a 'devil'. As Jesus said in regard to Judas, "...and one of you is a devil". (John 6:70) The Devil/Satan is the original 'psychopath'.

Cool video, just found your channel thanks to yt algorithms. Thanks for your candid and well informed description of this hard to understand text, im intrigued by this book since I heard of its existence and want to learn more about it without biases most religious fanatics I know dismiss uncanonical books as fiction or even false teachings. Judas Iscariot is an integral part of Gospel writing and shows us God doesnt forget even the least of those who search for him and to me hes an allegory of a person seeking real truth in its rawest form, regardless if such information might be hard to bare, I also feel the fact his suicide is even mentioned in the bible should indicate that our creator understands human frailties and remembers with detail with a veiw to bring us out of despair although the road to life is very difficult to find. The saying Jesus said 'he that wants to be first in the kingdom of God will be last; he that is last will be first' is an irony but in context of how Judas is usually referenced as bad or a betrayer tells me hes probably one of Jesus best mates in heaven or where ever there life force resides right now, and not where people think. Judas example also teaches me not to take a bribe for any means, since betraying Gods son is probably the worst a person could think of doing, but knowing this also could all be part of Gods plan to rectify the wrongs people do to themselves or others keeps me from giving up on life and wanting to learn more about God. All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, I believe this includes old txts that arent used in the current bible narrative, wether by design or not the truth will prevail and videos like this help free minds, especially in the depths of despair many find themselves today. Kia ora and thanks from NZ (:

We often hear of a gang of thieves plotting to rob and murder a man, and laying a plan to entice him out that they may execute their design, and we always feel shocked at the wickedness of such wretches; but what must we think of a book that describes the Almighty acting in the same manner, and laying plans in heaven to entrap and ruin mankind? Our ideas of His justice and goodness forbid us to believe such stories, and therefore we say that a lying spirit has been in the mouth of the writers of the books of the Bible. -Thomas Paine Founding father of USA
@AmitKumar-qz2us
@AmitKumar-qz2us Жыл бұрын
The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as his father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. Thomas Jefferson founding father, 3rd US President The dead sea scrolls covering the period from Birth of Jesus to 68 AD , does NOT say one word about Jesus or his 12 Apostles. Hellenistic philosopher Philo Judaeus of Alexandria (20 BCE-50 AD/CE)-alive at the purported time of Jesus, and one of the wealthiest and best connected citizens of the Empire- makes no mention of Christ, Christians or Christianity in his voluminous writings. Nor do any of the hundreds of other historians and writers who flourished during the first THREE centuries of the common era. The DEAD SEA SCROLLS were all written by Pagan Essenes . None of them have been edited by later Christians, as is the case with some other Jewish literature. All the scrolls (except a treasure map known as the Copper Scroll) can be dated prior to A.D. 68 or 69, when the Qumran settlement was believed to have been destroyed by the Romans in the Jewish revolt. The oldest of the scrolls probably goes back to the middle of the third century B.C. The people of Qumran belonged to a Pagan religious group known as the Essenes. Pliny the Elder, who died during the volcanic destruction of Pompeii in the year 79 A.D., described a community of pagan Essenes living on the western shore of the Dead Sea, close to where Khirbet Qumran is situated. John the Baptist was an ascetic Essene . He was a vegan and was uncircumcised . Various literary sources like Josephus and Philo tell clearly that Essenes were ascetics. We also know, from literary testimony, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the archaeological remains of Qumran, that the Essenes practiced many water baptisms for ritual purification-similar to a dip in the Ganges or the river Pampa or at Thiirunelli. At Qumran, however, all members of the community were baptized with water for ritual purification. Josephus writes, "And as for their piety towards God, it is very extraordinary; for before sunrising they speak not a word about profane matters, but put up certain prayers which they have received from their forefathers, as if they made a supplication for its rising" (Wars, 2.8.5). This testimony accords well with what we know from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Prayer and humility was one thing that the Essenes . When they cooked up stories about Jesus they wrote that Jesus Christ ate the Last Supper in the Essene part of town. Jesus is not historical character, The Dead Sea Scrolls have produced increasing evidence to cement the fact that Jesus Christ never existed and the whole story was cooked up at the First Council of Nicea in 325 AD. The FAKE gospels were written after 325 AD after Jesus was cooked up at the first Council of Nicea.. Twelve apostles of Jesus never existed. Jesus Christ names 12 apostles to spread his gospel, and the early Christian church owes its rapid rise to their missionary zeal. Yet, for most of the Twelve, there's scant evidence of their existence outside of the New Testament. The concept of using statistics to prove that 'God authored the Bible' is bullshit. Why was the library of Alexandria burnt ? The gospel of Thomas was not written by Jesus' disciple Thomas. Englishman Godfrey Higgins studied Greek, Latin and law at Cambridge . His two-volume, 867-page book Anacalypsis: An Enquiry into the Origins of Languages, Nations, and Religions, was published posthumously in 1836. In his treatise, Higgins writes " the mythos of the Jews and the mythos of the Greeks are all at bottom the same lifted from the ancient mythos of Hindus ; and ... are contrivances under the appearance of histories to perpetuate doctrines," and that Christian editors “either from roguery or folly, corrupted them all.” 1900, Scottish MP John Mackinnon Robertson wrote that Jesus never existed but was an FAKE invention by a first-century messianic cult. He wrote about the First Council of Nicea of 325 AD where powerful forces invented a new god to fit the needs of the society of the time .Robertson specifically mentions the Talmudic story of the Yeshu . Thomas says: "Simon Peter said to them, ‘Make Mary leave us, for females don’t deserve life.’ Jesus said, ‘Look, I will guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every female who makes herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven’" (Thomas 114). AIYOOOOO -even Christians don’t like this When the master of James baby Jesus Christ never existed -- how can his disciple St James exist ? Even since the dead sea scrolls have been discovered CHRISTIANS and JEWS are jumping up and down like demented orangutans claiming that Essenes belong to them. Dead Sea text or Qumran Scrolls have absolutely nothing ZILCH, to do with the Bible of the Torah - never mind the diabolical lies of the Christians and the Jews. For arguments sake -even if messiah Jesus Christ existed , the gospels were written a even a century after Jesus' estimated year of death, by individuals who never met Jesus, and then were edited or forged over the centuries by unknown scribes with their own agendas. Dead sea scrolls have been written by Essenes of the sect of Apollonius ।।।

One thing I've noticed about the whole Christian perspective is that it's very imperial; Jesus isn't more of man & God, but more of a spiritual 'thing', almost like an anthropomorphic spiritual 'Master Key' to Heaven. I'm glad the Gospel of Judas introduces these nuances of Christ because it makes him very human.

To be honest, the first time I ever heard this explanation for Judas betrayal, it was in Spawn Armageddon. I find the whole thing exceedingly interesting considering the other way was how I knew it for all my childhood and teenage. The Gnostic Gospels were discarded because they did not follow Church canon. Many were destroyed, so to be able to read this was amazing. I truly believe God has a purpose for each of us…was Judas the one who was closest to Jesus because he knew he would have to betray him in the end to complete God’s plan? Just a thought.

If that’s the case then god is neutral or evil. And allows sadistic evils, which means he’s not perfect and good. Either he’s imperfect, doesn’t know everything and is still good and pure. Or he knows everything, and still allows evil and suffering and is at the very least a neutral force, or he’s still good but he cannot interrupt the flow of time which means he knows everything but he’s not all powerful.

@@homosexualitymydearwatson4109 It's the second one. But he's not a neutral force. The thing is. Everything has it's negative and as Jesus told Judas in this video. "Don't worry about it." Just like how Jesus was freed from the sinful mortal shell when he died. So to will we when we die. So it's not about what God is doing in THIS life but rather the next. If God didn't "allow" evil then we'd automatically go to Heaven with no choice. He gives us a choice, free will, ability to do and decide as we please. That is THIS life. So in reality evil stems from Sin. Our inherent nature. But we have to choose to believe in God. Aka Faith. I feel like Life is a test to see if we will go against the grain and believe in God and if we do? We go to Heaven. But this is me trying to comprehend an infinite primordial being whose knowledge, desires, and actions cannot be comprehended by us.

I discovered, doing the math that if you use 20 years as an average generational span, 13 cycles of 13 generations have passes since moses walked the earth and freed Israel from egypt. 13x13=169 generations x 20 years = 3380 years. Take the current year 2022 and subtract 3380 years and we come to 1358 BC. It is said that Moses walked the earth from 1391-1271 13x13 man. In the book of Matthew, when the lineage of Jesus is discussed, the cycle of 13 generations is also prevalent. There has been one cycle between now and the American Revolution and one cycle before that was the Renaissance and "discovery" of America.

Judas is associated with Scorpio, whose deadly sting leaves two marks which resemble a kiss, hence Judas betraying Jesus with a kiss. The 30 pieces of silver relate to the 30 moon nights that occur at the end of Scorpio that lead up to December 21st (the Winter Solstice) when the sun rests in the constellation of the Southern Cross for three days before beginning its ascension. Let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years...

Great video, I found this video to be the best summation of its content. I'm personally in a strange place with religion. Being a gay man from Eastern KY, I've suffered a lot of religious trauma. For over a decade I considered myself between agnostic and a deist. Last year a medical accident occurred where I had to be resuscitated after 3 minutes with no heartbeat. I've been haunted by I remained conscious, and everything was void and dark. It was frightening. That event has led me to reexamine religion. I've recently found a Christian church in Louisville, KY that I'm very excited about. My husband and I also a church where we feel comfortable raising a child [we're in the process of adopting]. We believe in raising our child with open dialog about religion, not indoctrination. Being a researcher and philosopher by trade, I love learning about things like The Gospel of Judas. I never want to be part of a religion or church that limits what I can study or question. I believe that's a big part of spiritual growth. You need to know alternatives to make an informed decision about the type of faith you choose to follow.

If you look at Catholicism in the last two centuries, the dream was like a prophecy for it: First, Catholic priests sacrificing (molesting) young children, and second the "movement" in the past to bring gay men into priesthood (so that "they are prevented from committing *that* sin") that more or less had something to do with it. Edit: No sarcasm or cynicism whatsoever here. I am writing this as a catholic myself since birth.

@@3DVizzion I think that you are getting it the wrong way around. The Roman Catholic Church is not the Church of Christ but that of the enemy of Christ: Satan. Judas had an important role to play in God’s plan to save His creation from destruction, ”the fashioned (not created) world of the fallen angels”. My understanding is that Judas was an edomite while the other disciples of His were Hebrew, and that is why Jesus chose Judas as one of His disciples in the first place: Jesus knew from the beginning that Judas was going to betray Him. The edom-ites, (just as the amor-ites, canaan-ites, jebus-ites, moab-ites etc. and the el-ites of today) in general were worshippers of false gods and they made sacrafices to e.g. Baal and Moloch. Jesus (Yahshuah Ha’Maschiah) was a manifestation of God in the flesh and He came to Earth to show people a way out of this matrix. The way out of this matrix is by believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior and believing that He paid the ultimate price to get us free from the bondage to the fallen world. Jesus’s resurrection was for all humankind, but no one is forced to believe in Jesus/God. And of course the enemy wants (as he has always wanted) to reverse everything and make it all upside down, because Satan does not want anyone to leave the matrix. Jesus made it clear that God’s kingdom is not in this material world but that it is in the Spirit realm. That is why Jesus said to Judas that no mortal being will ever get there. But by being born again in/by the Holy Spirit one can. Maranatha, 🌹❤️✨🙏🏼✨❤️🌹

@@thankyoualmightygod8108 To be honest Jesus came to me in a dream and told me his name is Joshua or Yashua and further more asked me to walk with him to his house which I did. The dream goes on further. But to me I have my own revelation of the beginning and the end how it all began, why the fight, what is evil and good, where we are, who we are and when and how it will end. I dream a lot and the Creator reveals much to me. From my dreams I am revealed that I am the first conscious being and by re-ordering chaos from the Abyss. I created this world to my pleasure, to pleasure me. So only I am consciousness and I gave consciousness to the creatures I made so that they may give purpose to the creation. So all things created come from the Abyss, from chaos. Now I do not see myself as the Creator but that has been shown to me in my dreams. Why in the commandments of the Creator he says explicitly do not worship anything from the Heaven above, on the Earth and beneath the Earth because simply you cannot pick and chose what the Creator is as ALL things created is the Creator. Nothing in this creation is apart or disconnected from the Creator all is one with the Creator. And I abide by all commandments given by the Most High. The Vatican created Jesus or Rome and the same technics were used as all other gods of the patheon, same hierarchies and the trinity. Whatever teaches seperation is of Satan the spirit of chaos of destruction. There is no trinity as ALL is one! All is the Creator's will within the creation. The Creator is absolute consciousness and our souls, spirit and essence are all different facets of that absolute consciousness.

To be fair, none of the gospels were written by their namesakes, nor were they written by first person eye witnesses. The new testament that we have today was a collection of, mostly 2nd century writings by Christians spreading the word of a religion that was still in its infancy and rapidly evolving. While it's not very historically reliable, the early canonical and non-canonical works offer tremendous insight into the culture and theology of fledgling Christianity. Thanks for the video! I really loved it. I think it's important to denote that Gnostic belief is centered not in dualisms (i.e. Was Judas bad or good?) but rather was concerned with transcending both concepts entirely. This type of focus is much more common to Buddhism and other sects of Eastern thought that encourage self-liberation over worship of deities (i.e. Is God outside of you or inside of you??). Interestingly, traditional Roman Catholics also still maintain that worship of false idols is indeed a sin.

The more you understand the actual truth in Jesus' teachings, the more clear this becomes. Jesus is basically telling Judas all this stuff , because he knew Judas would forever be the evil enemy in this story. Undeservedly... you see Jesus didn't die, at least on the cross that day. Look into procedure when crusifying someone. It was a days long process, having to break the leg bones to prevent the person pushing up with their feet in order to get a breathe. You see, if you know how things really are and we're, you'd know Jesus didn't even need to die, just shed blood. Sin atonment is achieved when the sacrificial animal receives the sin by physical contact with the sinner. Then once the blood is shed, the sin is them forgiven. It's really easy to figure out the truth when you know how to look, or what to ask for. Like did you know Jesus believed in reincarnation, also God was in control of both evolution and creationism?... The truth is so much more interesting, which is why we don't hear the truth. Preachers are simply small business managers that have bills to pay too. It's more controlling if they believe it's the only shot we got, then you'll pay and pray out of guilt. I'd gladly mention some other truth that's been lost. You think the devil would let everyone instantly get the power to overthrow his forces so easily? Nope

Though I find it entertaining to learn about these others Gospels, it is fundamentally important to understand why books like this isn't accepted into the New Testament 1. The Gospel of Judas is a pseudopigraphy, book in other words it's applying arthurship to somebody that did not actually write it, we know judah's didnt write this for multiple reasons. For one Judas died shortly before Jesus died, so it would have been impossible for Judas to write this book so it's deeply concerning that this book tries to apply its authorship to somebody that could not have written it which leads to the second reason 2. Judas could not have written this book nor could any eyewitness have written this book because it was written late into the second century so there wasn't a single eyewitness alive during the time of Jesus. Jesus is believed to have died between 28 AD and 33 AD, the Gospel of Judas is believed to have been written close to 180 AD so whoever wrote this gospel not only never witnessed Jesus or the events of his life but they never knew anyone personally that knew Jesus because everyone that was alive during jesus's time died before the Gospel of Judas was written. The four gospels that we do have of Jesus were written in the first century, the same century that Jesus lived. But not only that, you'll also notice when reading the four gospels that they do not majorly contradict each other. The Gospel of Judas majorly contradicts the other four Canon Gospels Now you could argue that the four Canon gospels have minor contradictions but they've been addressed many times and even if there are minor contradictions, they are minor contradictions not major contradictions. It's not uncommon for someone to tell a true story and potentially make a minor mistake. It's one thing if there may be a little debate about who first came to the tomb of Jesus based on the four Gospels in the New Testament but when you have another gospel written nearly 200 years later that's telling us completely different teachings of Jesus and different aspects of his life that are easily and noticeably different then that should bring into question: which gospels are more reliable, the ones written in the first century by people who either knew Jesus or knew followers of Jesus or should I trust a source written nearly 200 years later by someone that could not have possibly gained any additional information about Jesus? So there are reasons why we reject certain gospels like Judas Thomas and Peter Peter for example because the gospel of Mark is technically Peter's gospel because Mark was Peter scribe and Mark was writing his gospel based off the information he got from Peter and the gospel of Peter tells us majorly different things compared to Peter's actual gospel in the gospel of Mark. Of course I realize that gospel is irrelevant to this video about Judas, but I did want to point out those important details to keep in mind.
