At age sixteen, a runaway to SF, dressed in a purple sari, I placed a pink carnation lei around his neck at Winterland, back when we could still actually get onstage. I asked him to play box of rain. Years later, he excavated it from the crypt, and it was again part of the repertoire. Rest in Aloha, kind minstrel.

Have you heard Billy & the Kids? Kreurtzman does something similar to Phil, but has a pretty solid core of Reid from Strangefolk, Aron Magnet Disco Bis. & Tom H from Jrad, Brothers Past and more. I think that core 4 is awesome. (much rather see them then Dead and Co $$ grab. I went to see them in 2021 and group also had James Casey on Sax, Billy Strings and, a local musician and Jason from SCI made appearances. I've done a lot of post GD shows. Ive done 4 further tours. The Dead in 09. Probably 75-85 Phil shows. Two full Rat Dog tour's, and then like 4 tours when they were changing names of banf every year. Phil and Bob both in line-up and both stubborn so ea H wouldn't let their guy not play in band. Anyways saying all this, those B&K Red Rock's shows were some my fav "Grateful Dead" related shows ever. My favorite I attended was 99 Phil and Shoreline but Billy & Kids come in hot. Billy Strings & Tom H just glued. They sounded so POLISHED. What a trip to RR for Bills 74th B Day Bash

@@offtherecord86 Why does every new player into the Dead community have to get such hype around him/her? They always have good players, and no, they're not a "prodigy".
