Thanks so much for this thorough, honest review. I'm going back to my RM2 after a 3 month dalliance with the Boox Note Air 2+. Like you say, the things RM2 is designed to do, it does better than anything else. I thought I would love the extra things the BNA2+ could do. Backlight? Turns out I don't read in bed, I sleep. The BNA2+ seems like it should be so much more productive with web connectivity, images, OneNote optimisation etc, but there are so many annoying little "rough edges" in the way everything works. It's good at many things but great at none of them. Coming back to the RM2 made me appreciate the simpler, cleaner, lighter, thinner experience that it offers. Yes, it just works!

I’ve been using it for almost 2 months and it’s exceptional for what it advertises itself for and that’s what people have to keep in mind. They are looking for the ultra simple device to help you think. It does well at this. I do agree that it could use additional functionality in the interface in the background, and they could improve the interface in the background to make it slightly faster and more intuitive. I think it’s unfortunate that it does not sync with notes apps, such as Apple notes or OneNote, etc. I think that’s a sad situation because sometimes you want to leave the reMarkable and just go into your Notes app. I, however, will definitely buy this tablet above the other ones again, so I do love it that much, it’s premium feel, it does exactly what it says it should do, and I do love the simplicity, which is why I got this to begin with; to replace paper and give me a paper like feel and experience.

Hello Brandon, For my work, I have many meetings where I listen to life stories and take many handwritten notes on paper. I then transcribe these notes into a report on Microsoft Word so that I can use them at a following meeting. I am looking to save time by having a tablet that would allow me to convert my notes into typed text that can be transferred into a .doc or .txt file that can be opened by Microsoft Word. Knowing that I write very poorly, is it better to have a remarkable 2 or an iPad capable of directly converting handwritten notes into typed text? I don't want to use a computer because I don't want to put a barrier between the client and me. In summary my goal is to find the best tool that looks like a sheet of paper and converts my writing (not very clean) into a text file without me having to retype everything as I did until now. (OCR software is incapable of proofreading me properly). Thank you very much for your help. Good day.
@BrandonKBoswell8 ай бұрын
There are many good transcription apps that use Whisper. I would try one of those first. For example, I use Superwhisper on Mac and iOS. I’m sure there is something similar for Android
@leontortefontaine85568 ай бұрын
@@BrandonKBoswell Thanks a lot, so i understand that you think the transcription apps will be more adapted for my work than an e ink tablet. I 've seen the superwhisper website but unfortunately, it 's written that's it only works with recent mac with Apple M processor and i have a 2020 macbook with intel processor. I don't want to record the client. I already use actually vocal access on windows to transcript my notes but i search to avoid this retranscription time. So do you think a remarkable 2 will answer to this specific need ? And is it efficient when it converts manuscrite writing to a txt file ? Have a good day and thank you again for your answer.

@BrandonKBoswell2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine, the answer is going to heavily depend on your need for custom templates and what you mean by edit. The reMarkable doesn’t have native support for custom templates so there is some hacking to get that. The reMarkable has support for sending it PDFs and drawing on top of them and then exporting those back out either via email or Cloud services. Let me know if you have further questions.

One minor nitpick comment: It's technically not a backlight. It's a frontlight because it is in front of the screen. If it were a backlight, there wouldn't be any different in distance for devices with backlight and those without them.

Hi i am planning to buy the Remarkable 2 but I like the pen on paper feel rather than the pencil but I do not want to go for Supernote A5X. Is there a possibility to get the pen feel on remarkable by using a screenguard and then the ceramic nib pen? Thanks in advance.
@BrandonKBoswell2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s going to get you the feel you desire. The Supernote feels like a pen because of its flexible screen protector design that is soft and malleable. Without that, the ceramic nib is unlikely to get you exactly what you want. Different nibs could still get you closer to the sensation you want. I use the POM Lamy nibs and they are fast like a pen. It’s not an exact fit for what you are asking for, but could be a good starting point.

Brandon mentioned in the video about their customer service. I contacted the company to see about refurbished items and this is the response I got back. I find this a very interesting customer service and sales tactic given how other companies are much more transparent. “Please allow me to set proper expectations that yes we sell refurbished devices before but with the recently ended Black Friday week offer, we temporarily stopped selling them on our webshop. Furthermore, we are unable to disclose any information about potential upcoming products, features, and services, and we apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause.” Given the price that they are charging for the limited capabilities of their device you would think they would be bending over backwards to get people to buy them.

If it doesn't work send it back and get another one. It couldn't be easier with Amazon. Giving it one star because it didn't work says nothing about a good one that does work. I bet a bad one is one in a thousand or more. Give it a break...just get another one.
