I have done the download for the Mix and I do all you are saying but when I click the icons and I push the three bar button, I do not get the menu on the right hand side on my screen saying uninstall but when I click the OK button it comes up, some info and Explore, Package installer a box says Remember and Uninstall, Open as so I click the Uninstall and goes and in grey rectangle box says Uninstall unsuccessful. Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong and tell me how to do it right, than you.

I tried this and all it does is Uninstaller the updates and put it back to factory settings. Just like at 6:49, "Replace this app with the factory version". How do I get rid of all of it w/out going back to factory?

Was able to get a number of app updates uninstalled and apparently blocked. However, when I open up the blocker app and look for the confirmation that I am now unable to update the apps I don't want, I'm presented with and install option and when I click it, the install process begins. This process only works on FireOS6 and higher devices. The older FireOS5 devices have no way of expanding their storage.

Is there a benefit to blocking system updates other than preventing them from reinstalling system apps that you don't want? I've been waiting for them to roll out the update that allows me to control my bluetooth volume with my remote. Or is that even happening for Fire OS 6 devices? I've got a FS4K and FireTv 3rd Gen. Edit - You kinda touched on my first question at the very end of the video, but my follow-up would be, don't the benefits of the update outweigh the hassle of having to set things back up the way you like it? Don't the updates help improve functionality and security?

Not always, some updates break certain features and introduce bugs that never get fixed. Also bear in mind Amazon will want you to upgrade in the future so could release shady updates that slow your device down or something.

Well... I did this step-by-step. I mean I paused video, did step one, started and stopped, did step 2, etc. on my 4k firestick. I did indeed gain storage, BUT... my whole top row of watched shows is now gone? I tried unblocking all and updating, but top row of recently watched (favorites) is nowhere to be found??? You don't need to do a restore, you can just going to settings -- my fire tv -- about and check for updates. The updates will restore anything that was removed

@@TechDoctorUKExtra Sorry TD, after unblocking everything I have blocked which is minimal pretty much the same things you did, I did go to the about section and do the updates. Top row of recently watched still did not return even after a restart? Now your pictures I even blocked updates to the screensaver the fire stick puts on there and had my own photos on there instead. But now I'm back to the firestick screensaver? I'll keep trying, thanks and if you think of anything, would really appreciate it!

@@TechDoctorUKExtra Well, I unblocked all the updates I had blocked then went to About-Update. I'm back to having 0.99GB of storage left, and my top row of daily watched shows did not return. Oh well, not the end of the world. I can delete at least 3 apps I don't use and since my daily shows are gone, its a good time to do this process again and block the updates for the useless stuff like Amazon Shopping, Am Kids, etc. Not sure what went wrong my friend, but I still appreciate all your GREAT videos!

that's what I'm getting using X-Plore file manager. I hate these freaking apps. I don't use any of them. I use 5 apps religiously and because of all the bloatware I can only have 2 more apps installed and have to constantly rotate those two apps with apps I need. It's bs that they do this. At least apple finally made it possible to uninstall preloaded apps after a while. Now Amazon needs to do the same.
