I used this method on my hair after a toner was applied to eliminate brassy tones to bleached hair and it turned my hair a blue-gray color. which looked cool but was unacceptable for work. I tried this baking soda method and only left it in my hair for 10 mins. It worked like a charm and I barely had any brass tones left in my hair. I'm assuming the baking soda lifted the toner to what it should have been. Anyway, thank you for the video. It absolutely works. In fact, I'm going to use this method later today to lift a toner that left my hair looking flesh colored. I think I'm done with toner. 😊

Pearl I am glad it helped you out! Sometimes the wrong toner is used, and that's what it sounds like keeps happening to you! Toner can be great, but has to be done correctly for the right results. :)

Sara Wright Thanks for the advice! My best friend is a hairstylist and has been for years but she's admittingly bad with bleach because it's so unpredictable. I'll do some research and find a toner that's best for my hair. Thanks again!

Will this method help get wella toner out of my hair that turned my bleached hair an ashy grey green color
@katieblume60108 жыл бұрын
someone may have said this and i'm sure you already know, but just in case it's misconstrued - apHogee's keratin/protein treatments absolutely will not help restore moisture to the hair (quite the opposite, on occasion). they'll aid the protein bonds in restructuring, but your hair needs a balance of moisture *and* protein to feel healthy. we accrue damage when we're lacking or overly saturated with one or the other..so using apHogee is *perfect* for processed hair when paired with a srs bsnss moisturizer like the others you listed in the video. :)

Yes, I am well aware of all of that :) I am a licensed stylist working full time and have learned a lot over the years. Great info for those reading in the comments for others opinions though, so thank you! :)

I've done this but have mixed it with developer but I'm definitely trying this today on my grey hair
@pressureddiamond30623 жыл бұрын
Did it work when you mixed it with developer?
@adriannamoralez36263 жыл бұрын
Yes but it's honestly not worth it, it will dry your hair out extremely bad

Hey hun soo I have been coloring my hair a silvery/lavenderish color for the past 2 months prior to the lavender I had my hair professionally done(bleached) and it was DAMAGED. Like falling out damaged. Gummy/breaking when I barely even touched it. Well I've been really taking care of no heat deep conditioning treatments etc; it FEELS actually soft again but I'm still extremely gentle with it.. well I colored my hair with prava a lavender
@misssamhain43347 жыл бұрын
Whoops I hit send by accident lol! OKi colored it using pravana luscious lavender and pravana silver.. I fell asleep and it came out soooooooo dark.. I KNOW it'll fade obviously but I have a job interview tomorrow evening and I really really want to fade it out quite a bit.. it's not the end of the world if I can't but I'd really like to lol my question is this: do you think the baking soda method is too harsh? I just want to be careful!!!
@SaraWrightsmw7 жыл бұрын
erin verzi With what you told me, I would not recommend this method. It is quite drying to the hair, and I would hate to have your hair be even more compromised because of following this method. I suggest solely using a clarifying shampoo to tone it down a bit. He baking soda method can be quite abrasive as it's basically exfoliating the hair. Wash it a few times with a clarifying shampoo and you should see it fade a decent enough amount to where you'll be more comfortable with the results!

I just overtoned my hair using a purple shampoo and now it has blue streaks. If I don't do anything, how long will they last? Will they eventually fade or are they permanent?
@SaraWrightsmw8 жыл бұрын
natalie catherine Toning shampoo is not permanent and will only last a few washes. I would use a clarifying shampoo and see if it helps lift some of the color pigment off of the hair.

Dear GOD I hope this works! I am sitting here in tears because my hair has hunks of BRIGHT purple in it after being over-toned today and I've washed it about 6x including using clarifying shampoo and Dawn dish soap. The color underneath isn't a pretty blonde either, it's grayish/silver. I went to someone new and I never should have done it. Soooooo mad!!!

is there a way to completely remove toner? my hair was a light yellow color before now the toner made my hair a weird grey colour. What method would you suggest to use to completely rid the toner?
@SaraWrightsmw8 жыл бұрын
I would try the method that I recommend in this video. If that doesn't work, I would suggest a developer and shampoo cocktail to try to lift the grey tone out. If you have to use lightener, I would use the lowest possible developer you can so you do not damaged your hair!

I have black hair and I got copper highlights 8 months back. Then I got burgundy dye 2 months back. Will this method work to remove the colors? I can still see the highlights.
@SaraWrightsmw8 жыл бұрын
You can try it, but if it was a permanent color that used developer, it may not work well, if at all! Any color that oxidizes is harder to lift out of the hair, as it is not a stain like the "vivids" are.
@radavilnits20218 жыл бұрын
Hey Sara, this is a great video and I definitely want to try it because I put in a toner (walla t35) onto my dark brown hair (not dyed before) and It turned it like a weird red color. I just wanted to know if you think this method would work to remove the toner thats on top of my natural hair because I do not want to wait until it washes out. Thanks SO much in advance!
@SaraWrightsmw8 жыл бұрын
Hey, I would recommend trying a clarifying shampoo for a few washes to see if that helps. Once the toner lifts a bit, it may turn orange toned. So doing this method might leave you brassy. Hope that helps!

Can I use this to remover Demi permanent dye
@SaraWrightsmw8 жыл бұрын
It may help lift a bit to lighten but not fully get rid of what you're wanting it to.
@chasewhorton2958 жыл бұрын
What would you recommend to get rid of the dye
@SaraWrightsmw8 жыл бұрын
+Chase Whorton Depends on the brand, the color it is now, previous colors underneath. Sometimes a malibu treatment will help lift color off a level or two. Every situation is different though so it's hard to say what's best over the Internet without seeing your hair.
