This is months old. There was no real beef between Dotta and Ren. Ren could have ignored Dotta's diss but wanted to respond in the spirit of Hip Hop. But he also wanted to stay true to his own values - he never wants to drag someone down, he always wants to lift them up. So he did that.

Ren did this battle rap response to show he respects and understands the culture, but more importantly wanted to respond to the racist remarks made by Dotta in the 'receipts' he showed in the video. The original diss by Dotta was also pretty mild, so Ren didn't feel he needed to (or wanted to) go in hard. Instead he wanted to put out a message which is far more important to him about unifying people and focussing on the things that really matter to him, like the corruption of money and power that divides society and that people of all races and religions should be uniting to fight these rather than fighting amongst themselves. "I genuinely mean it when I say you should shine, I just played you at your game, so now welcome to mine.." "...there's a new counter culture in this world of division, where we bicker over politics and race and religion..." Ren offering a hand out to Dotta, was not Ren being too British or too polite or not understanding battle rap. Simply saying, let's all lift each other up and fight the real battles we face in today's society. Once you check out Money Game, parts 1, 2 & 3, you'll get a much better understanding of where Ren is coming from.

Ren is a genuine person. You should know by now from Ren's stuff that he wants peace for the world. Ren was in the middle of his daily treatment when he dropped this, there is a good chance that could even be the hospital parking lot he is in. Most people who were engaged in the battle, agreed that Ren won this (including Dotta) - by essentially being the bigger person.

Totally understand your pov, but, context is important. First, it’s Ren. He’s trying to lift people up. Second, this was more of a friendly battle that was agreed to ahead of time. Dotta’s track is more traditional so you might enjoy that one more. FWIW, renegades did show Dotta love after this and he went from like 800 subs to thousands overnight.

In all honesty it's hard to think of Ren as a rapper... I mean how many rappers reference classic literature like Lenny from Of Mice and Men or mention David Attenborough from Planet Earth... Ren's is so well read and he puts in references to literature, religion, history. To Dotta's credit, in a way he did respond to this, he started doing some reactions on his channel and (no surprise) his Ren reactions are his biggest video's because Ren's fans did go and check out his stuff. Ren's a rising tide. (if you know, you know).

Part of why I think Ren is struggling to be serious is that in the U.K. the culture is that you are rude to people you like, and polite to people you don’t like. Go into any workplace on the U.K. and you will hear really cutting insults thrown around, but only amongst people who get along really well.
@Lunabracco8 ай бұрын
That's not wholly true I'm British and have worked in many different areas and haven't been in the situation where it's been a rude cutting remark work place , I have raised polite children I am polite and treat others how I like to be treated so its NOT a UK culture I don't know where this person lives and works !

If you want the traditional disses, you have to check out Knox Hill's Stan Remix and Patiently Waiting 24 hours later. Their are hard. It started with Dotta purposefully misunderstanding a Knox line. Knox buried him. But this is a Ren Diss. As he said, he is not about dissing. The win here for me is him not playing the game.

We all were expecting so much more, that is, a beat and perhaps a lyric video. But what we got was pure Ren. He is not a battle rapper. He added a very slight bit of beat. But his cadence is always amazing and the lyrics were fabulous. It was refreshing--which is ususal for Ren. It ain't for everyone though. Two things to remember here. Ren is nice as hell. Ren actually respects Dotta. Once again, Ren is not a battle rapper, and he is not bitter.

I kinda see your point guys 😊Unpopular opinion: I think Ren here didn’t really try hard to “diss” king dotta 🤔(which may, in a way, be considered even more disrespectful for not being serious with him). I guess he didn’t really care, it was more of a personal branding move (literally his way to react to bad things). How do I know for sure? I don’t BUT we’ll see…(if he’s ever gonna get mad at someone one day) Here’s one of his lyrics “You know I'm staying grounded when I grind up my beef But if you got a problem, my brother, I might just put on some rubber gloves And just choke you 'till larynx ruptures, And blood, it just bubbles up And the bubbles just double up, and you struggle, but luck is up 'Cause I'm subtle at covering up the trouble” Maybe I’m tripping 😂 but I appreciated the way this video sparks critical thinking! Wish you the best! Keep it up 🔥

Ren is an artist that could fit just about anywhere, not a hip hop artist. He ain't got time but to make genius music, go for treatment and be a respectful human doing it. Ren is about giving different perspectives and solutions to conflict in this world. Haters going to hate. Smarter than most of us. This was a message not a battle rap, just rens response.
