Is the Auto Box with no option for a manual a deal breaker? Are you looking forward to the new gen Clio?

The 2020 Clio RS if fitted with the 1.8 engine that is in the 300bhp Megane trophy should be naughty.

220 with a Map, is a Hoot. Check out the Nürburgring times for cars in this class, the twin clutch is awesome far quicker shift times than any old hat manual. Put it in race mode if you like a more manual affect in the gear changes.

majorMcpharter old hat but on track ultimately 9 times out of ten imo more fun than any auto box. Still bags of fun auto box or not for sure 👍

Good Review Must agree Paddle Shift is the future. Look at all super cars Ferrari Lambo Nissan Gtr Etc Etc they are nearly all auto only. I rest my case.

majorMcpharter by and large yep that's the way it's going, people want efficiency and speed. auto boxes are the way you get that.

My biggest worry was the turbo lag but a test drive proved me otherwise.
@PeakPerformanceReviews7 жыл бұрын
Tanim Ahmad yep defiantly no problem with turbo lag, they have matched the turbo very well for instant response and for power all over the rev range.

Most of these cars will be driven on the road Not the track, most of the time we are All stuck in traffic for most of the time, this is when the edc box comes into it's own. If the road is clear and you want a blast put it in sport or race mode.

I definitely agree on that one 🙌

Before anyone says I know I say Abarth 959, driving an talking isn't always easy and what I meant is 595 of which I do correct myself later after almost saying it again. We drove the 595 on the same day so great to compare a small car like that against something like this.

where is this?
@PeakPerformanceReviews7 жыл бұрын
Dillan Colleer Hello Dillan it was at Millbrook Proving ground. It's a test facility site of which manufacturers use for chassis testing and development etc.
@jalalalap-akalala7 жыл бұрын
guessing it's not open to the public then?

Going to put this out here put why does everyone having a go a renault for putting a auto gear box instead of a manual as I test drive one of these yes a manual might be better for one or two situations but with a auto it is more useable everyday and renault has always been know for changing the game watch ford and Peugeot do it at some point as well. But love it how the don't like a manual in this but in a golf r or a45 it the best thing ever
@elliotj967 жыл бұрын
But forgot to add this if people like manual fair enough but do dis this car as it has a auto clever from Renault where they can sell more worldwide especially in Asia and Australia
@PeakPerformanceReviews7 жыл бұрын
I'm definitely not having a go about it, I just prefer a manual having owned both for long periods of time in a hot hatch. It's the feel and control you get from a manual, in time that may change as they perfect the Auto box ... which to be honest there nearly already there. There is no doubt a good DSG auto box destroys a manual gearbox in out and out pace but to some people that doesn't automatically make it a better car with that box. People seem obsessed with having the quickest car possible now and forgot about driving feel, for me yes I like a fast car but driver focus, fun and feel is the most important thing in a car. I have no problem with an autoboxed car as they evolve they are getting so much closer now to a manual. Reality is I think manuals won't exists so we all better get use to it anyway, the same as petrol electric hybrid and electric car, that's life. I do get you though and understand what you say, I think some people obsess over it more than others. I'm not one of those people I'm a very open person that is open to change and these auto boxes are really improving.

elliotj96 i know what your saying, some people when reviewing it have, I'm telling you now I'm definitely not as I love it, it works and doesn't detract anything from this car being a proper hot hatch it's such a great car.

Peak Performance Reviews I know bud just I think that is all anyone says about this car

That's a shame and very narrow minded if they do, I will hopefully be doing an extra full review on this in the next couple of months and will have the car for longer and already cannot wait it's an amazing car.

I drove the standard Clio RS last year and I wasn't overly impressed. The gearbox was simply too much of a deal beaker for me. Why oh why did Renault decide to sell the car as auto only? #madness
@PeakPerformanceReviews7 жыл бұрын
Car Obsession they should have given the option and it's a shame for sure imo too. That being said I've been told by numerous people apparently the 220 Trophy is quite a bit better than the previous model which is great to hear. This one really is meant to be the best one since the ol awesome 172 and 182's. I was definitely very impressed.

Peak Performance Reviews Hmm, hopefully I'll be able to try the Trophy out sometime.
