This 2008 Renault Traffic had a problem with its heater motor, it only worked on the full speed setting i.e. 4. The other 3 settings resulted in the motor not working. When this happens the resistor is usually the problem. In some cases the motor will go onto full speed regardless of what it is set to.
To access the resistor means working in the engine bay, the trafic like most modern vans features abysmal engine bay access, although its not too bad once the air filter housing is out of the way.
Its an easy DIY fix, the new resistor unit cost £18 on eBay, genuine Renault ones are about £40.
The Nissan Primastar, and Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro are identical to this van (Badge Engineered) and should they give the same problem the repair should be similar, although double check the connectors just in case they may have slight variations.
