Great Tutorial, thanks! BTW, I discovered that the opacity maps on your particle planes are slowing down the render time in the first solution you showed. I used a ray switch material and put a non opacity mapped version in the gI slot, while leaving the original opacity mapped shader in the visible, ref, and refact channels. This cuts render times a good bit. I do like your geometry solution a bit better in that I can cut down on particle emission and speed up the sims, while still rendering an acceptable result. I can get a nice preview out the door without committing to a massive simulation. So Thanks!!!

Cheers! I tried to just focus on the method rather than speeding it up to keep it short and simple, but your method is a great optimisation, cheers! You can also pick tri's instead of quads to halve the amount of poly's if you have a big scene, but it was just easier to demonstrate with quads.

I don't use Corona but V-Ray GPU has virtually the same limitations currently so this is a handy workaround for that too so thank you, good presentation and no fluff, look forward to more tutorials from you subbed!

Cheers, thanks for that! Yeah I love both renderers, but already invested in Corona. FYI, I did another test afterwards, and the set up that took around 17 mins for 4 passes in Corona, took 1 minute with 27 passes with Vray CPU haha, haven't tried GPU yet.

Im in the same boat (pun intended). Since there is no VolumetricScatter Material for VrayGPU, how did you shade the TyMesher object to look like foam?
@StuLloyd

@@HEEROCKSS I rendered it in Corona with a Corona Volume Material, a possible work around using Vray might be to use a normal Vray Material, but chuck a General Falloff map in the opacity channel?

Hello. Is Tyflow a part of Phoenix?

Na, it's a plugin in development for 3ds Max, to replace pFlow and has so many more powerful cool features.

Thanks for great tutorial Stu! Have you maybe encounter issue with tyflow not updating when rendering animation? Everything behaves as it should when going through timeline and even when I render out separate images but when rendering is set to active time segment or range tyflow or tyflow mesh stays frozen on first frame.
@StuLloyd
@StuLloyd 3 жыл бұрын
No worries! Yes I have encountered that before, you can export your events to tyCache's and they work perfectly, you can then just set your initial sim set to 'inactive', so you can still make changes later if you need.

Hey, Is there a way to make tyflow produce more particles with fluid birth? I need to get more so the splashes would look good..
@StuLloyd
@StuLloyd 4 жыл бұрын
As long as your tyFlow setting is set to 100% it will birth as many particles as Phoenix simulated, so you would have to up the amount in the Phoenix settings. However you 'could possibly' fiddle around with the 'spawn' operator in tyFlow to spawn more from the ones you originally spawn. You could then offset their positions slightly and add the same fluid force operator to get them to follow the splashes. I haven't tested though.

Fantastic!. Any idea to render wet maps?.
@StuLloyd
@StuLloyd 5 жыл бұрын
Cheers! Yes, if you are using PhoenixFD, you can just switch to scanline renderer and add the wet map to the diffuse channel of a standard material and render out the wet map to texture as an image sequence, then switch back to corona anduse the image sequence as the wet map. I also just uploaded a vid showing a few other ways you can try wet maps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKO3fHyto52Zg68

So Phenix and tyflow can be used with corona?
@StuLloyd
@StuLloyd 3 жыл бұрын
Corona 6 supports Phoenix 4 foam, previous version are different, for example, Corona 5 only supports Phoenix 3 fluid, not foam. Tyflow can be used with any renderer, except for motion blur and some other vray specific features.
