Jeff is probably the most underrated blues guitarist of all time. I put him up there with the likes of SRV, Clapton, and Hendrix. He might even be better having taught himself to play blind and his unique lap style. Pure brilliance. RIP 🎸🙏

I saw many of his earliest gigs in London and I met him, once. Waited at the stage door of the Hammersmith Odeon in London. Got to meet him and spend a bit of time with him. A lovely, genuine guy. After an hour, they closed the theatre and I realised that I'd missed the last train back into Central London (to catch a night bus) - so he gave me a ride in on the tour bus as they were going that way too. Legend! Never forgotten!

Your comment is special! There are genius musicians reading notes,writing music in notes strictly to be followed/played. There are at the same time musicians playing by hearing,improvising. I was musically stunned hearing Him! Felt a special feeling. I am the son of a guifted professional guitarplaying father. A professional , who changed His life because of Me in '64 Stopped touring international in mid 60-ies He a law/economics graduate,became a force in a substantual periode in music industry. Read ;retail/wholesale/concert-P.A. supplier. When I was young He tried to teach Me reading music notes/songs , He told Me I give up! I hurted Me for a while. I sincerely cannot read/play notes in writing. I can play crazy solo's by hearing. But I had to admit early , I am not an artist! My father " teached "Me to approach music/artists differently. I was 9 years ('73) old and met; David Cassidy in Rotterdam De Doelen for a couple of days in private,same year The Rolling Stones (De Doelen Rotterdam also '73) My list after that went on to 2010 approx.) It was the foundation of My musical life. I am blessed to have been present at many sound-checks,or private(for whatever reason) gear selecting fm musicians on tour. Close to 60 now,I am still involved in Music. I am not touring much (did many a,-class U.S.A./Europe artists/d.j.s) anymore,however still involved with productions. Often I bring artists up for inspiration. You would be surprised what little details can do! So recently again listening in a Dance studio in The Netherlands ,this ;full blast (for us ears protected partly) and experience the vibe. Awesome!!! What an absolute privilige for Us to have had Him in Our lives! Be good, Be nice, Be healthy! Bless You all

Stephanie B he was put in a incubator when he was a baby as he was 2 small. They gave his pure oxygen on accident made him blind. Not sure to what else ailef him. Pretty sure their was more but dont quote me.

Carl Smith, no, he had cancer in his eyes at age 1. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Healey was raised in the city's west end. He was adopted as an infant;[1] his adoptive father was a firefighter. When he was almost one year old, Healey lost his sight to retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the eyes. His eyes had to be surgically removed, and he was given ocular prostheses.

Btw....Phil Sayce on lead guitar here is still playing amazing concerts in GTA and on tour; heavily influenced by Jeff and many other blues greats. I feel lucky that I saw Jeff Healy's fantastic trio twice in concert and always mesmerizing to experience. He was my age it felt awful that cancer took its toll on Jeff. True class act Canadian who never became bitter and played hard with virtually every imaginable musician of jazz, blues, and rock as a flag carrying fan of the game. He owned over 10,000 jazz and rock records and also was a popular Toronto jazz radio dj.

I have always thought it was amazing he could play lead guitar like he did. Saw him live and just kept shaking my head as he kept blazing away. He took each solo as if it were the last one he was ever going to play. Sadly, it was not too long after this that he did play his last lick. Greatly admired and missed in this corner. RIP Jeff. Angel Eyes are for you.

I was blessed to see Jeff Healey play While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Coca Cola Starplex in Dallas, TX, on June 8, 1993. His performance was incredibly moving and I remember crying when he played this song. My favorite, though, will probably always be Angel Eyes.

And what comes to mind when I listen to this rendition over and over? Artistry. Instrumental mastery. Brilliance. Musicianship. Genius. Inspirational. Unparalleled vocals. Gifted. Emotional. I would challenge anyone on the net to find a better (God, I really do hate that phrase because its so unfair to other's that are different), rendition of this song. And it's performed live. No editing. As a guitar player myself, of course the first thing I am inclined to do is to give up playing and/or singing because in one hundred life times I could never attain anything even close to this advanced level. But (I keep telling myself) that is not what life is about. Life is about struggle and the journey that accompanies it. Jeff Healey, no doubt had more than his fair share of struggle. RIP Jeff. Thank you!!!!!

First watch this guys decades ago...as a french guys out in the west.. in a little bar in winnipeg... all shy i went and ask to jam a bit with him as he was unpluggng is shit. I played a lovely little blues with him.. Guitar wasnt for me.. turn out piano and orchestra was my way... but he gave me a very lasting impression. Years later i saw him on much music doing while my guitar..... and i was blown away by his melodic solo. Truly one of the greatest underated guitar god ever. Sleep well Jeff.
