Rental cars are the best! I once hit a set of railroad tracks at about 120mph in a chevy impala rental and flew so far I got miles on my card. Naturally the car was slightly worse for the experience, but it didn't matter since it was a rental! Did I mention I was a taxi driver at the time? Yeah, I used to rent impala's and use them as taxi's until the rental place found one of the mods I had to do to get a taxi meter in it. Lol! It was a cheap way to get a top quality car for taxi use without actually buying one. And the savings in upkeep and repairs more than made up for the extra cost per day.

my dads jeep went in for a fuel pump thing (it had quit) and we got a hyundai for the rental, im 13 and know how to drift. sadly this was a FWD auto but it had a manuel E-brake and i came into my driveway at 50kms and hit it and did a 180, and sent it on the next corner it was good fun.

I live in the US so don't know about Aus, but around here every car that has a recognizable name instantly is marked up 100% at the dealer. The Fairlady "reboot" from Nissan is impossible to find and super expensive despite not being a super high performance car, for example. And the new Supra was being sold above $100k, crazy. I think it even hit $200k at one point.
