I think these still remain very relevant to people needing RTSP cloudless support. It's still a great camera for NVR based systems that have their own recording schemes, notification options, and AI detection options. Still a solid buy!

Wifi Reolink is $70 today for Prime Day in July. They also have a newer white one with 3:4 head to toe and package detection for $80 but has a $10 coupon making it $70 as well.

Do you indeed get an incoming call when someone pushes the button? There are numerous threads (even recent ones) on reddit complaining how Reolink just sends a notification that needs to be clicked to receive a call. Was this just fixed?...and for both Android and iOS please?
@FabianoArruda2 ай бұрын
Doesn't work as expected. I have tested this on iOS. It doesn't use the system's native incoming call interface. You still get the push notification, the only difference is that you are taken to Reolink app with a simulated incoming call interface. It's pretty useless if you ask me. I still prefer the older interface in which you can see the camera view, and then activate the mic if you want to answer. Fortunately, you can disable this fake "incoming call" interface. Also, the device can't handle the Reolink app and Alexa integration at the same time. I have an Echo Show 8, when I enable doorbell notifications on Alexa the device will block the mic even if you are not answering from the Echo Show, which makes it impossible to answer the doorbell using the app if you are not at home. Besides that, if you do answer using Alexa the audio is always choppy, and it will block the doorbell from ringing again for the next 10 or so minutes, if someone presses the button again you won't hear it. I've seen other people complaining about the same issue on Reddit for months, Reolink support to this date has not offered a solution for this bug. Stay away from the product if you plan to use with Alexa. More info here: www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/19dczyj/why_reolink_doorbell_camera_cannot_handle_alexa/ and here: www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1eikq1t/alexa_is_hijacking_my_reolink_doorbell_mic_2way/

I have the poe one connected to a poe switch. The issue with Reolink cameraas and this one in particular, is the lack of exposure/ backlight setting when dealing with part shadows and light. If your door is facing an over exposed area, you can't see any faces. That's why they are cheap!

Would you prefer reolink or Eufy? Why? Thanks!!! 😊
@piplsystemsАй бұрын
Honestly? Reolink and Eufy offer distinct security solutions, catering to different user needs. Reolink is known for its versatile, standalone security cameras that often feature 4K resolution, PoE options and extensive compatibility with NVR systems, making them suitable for both home and business security. Eufy, on the other hand, focuses on user-friendly, all-in-one home security solutions with an emphasis on privacy. Their cameras typically include local storage, integration with smart home ecosystems, and features like AI-driven detection, appealing to those who prioritize ease of use and data security. In this case I prefer Eufy as more user friendly solution.

@piplsystems3 ай бұрын
Reolink WiFi cameras can be added to Reolink NVRs if they are in the same LAN. You need connect the camera to your router via WiFi by configuring WiFi settings for the WiFi camera. Then connect your Reolink nvr to the LAN port of the router. Then add your camera to your nvr.

@@piplsystems is it same for WiFi door bell?
@jayanator9 күн бұрын
@@alphaarun24yes the WiFi version can be added to the NVR on the same network. Although, with the nvr you don't get the smart detection and recording when someone presses the doorbell. You just get the standard motion detection options that are available on the NVR. This is very disappointing. I'm considering sending mine back as it's not functioning as it seems to be advertised and also the doorbell call function takes you to the camera playback screen in the app not the live view.

Do I need a POE switch if I have their NVR?
@piplsystems3 ай бұрын
Depends of the model of Reolink nvr. You can find Reolink nvr with PoE ports on their website. In this case you don’t need PoE switch 🤝. Example: m.reolink.com/ca/product/rln8-410/
@jayanator9 күн бұрын
If you don't have a poe nvr or a poe switch, you can buy a poe injector, which essentially just adds the power element to the network cable.

I can connect it to my own NVR, I can even block its connection tot he internet on my firewall and all the recordings and data stay mine not some company who is going to do some minority report BS with it. I have to disappoint you, we did connect the video doorbell and it worked great. We used footage from it in this video. For example at 0:20 and in other places. Please understand that filming and editing a KZbin video is a complex process of a large team, and for example, a video editor can cut out some footage that you really wanted to see. In any case, watch our next videos and you will see that we test and check all the equipment during filming.
