Excellent video. Followed it step-by-step for a near trouble free install. Then came Step 44 at 39:40. I have my rack 3.75" off of the wall. The lower two bolts were a challenge. My arm wouldn't fit between the wall and the shroud to get the two lower nuts in place. Solution: Took a 17mm ratcheting wrench - taped that wrench to two 24mm wrenches to create one long stiff handle. Then used painter's tape to hold the nut into the 17mm socket so it protruded just a little. Then lowered the nut down until it was over the bolt. By using the 24mm wrenches as the "stick" - it was stiff enough that I could hold the nut on the bolt with enough force that I could then turn the bolt from the front in to the nut. A hard one person job that took patience. Very happy it worked because I had my rack exactly where I wanted it and did not want to attempt moving it. I could have left the shroud off, but it looks so much better with the shroud in place. Thanks Rep! awesome product.

Got mine delivered prior to this video lol, would've been nice to have had this video posted sooner as a few steps weren't clear on the instructions, but overall installation process wasn't bad, I referenced the ares 1.0 assembly video for similar steps where applicable for assurance.

Our rack was delivered but not the Ares. If we push it all the way back to the wall (final position), will we still be able to assemble Ares 2.0 without pulling it back away from the wall?
@jaredhollanddrums74749 күн бұрын
Just built mine following this and this was so helpful! I still made a couple obvious mistakes. Don’t be me. I put the pulleys from the top bar on the bottom. (Took a lot of work lol) couldn’t fit the single pulley on top and that’s how I figured out what I did. I also put the shrouds on incorrectly. Easy to confuse the side ones, but if you just take note of the cut out for the lower pulley on the floor it is simple! Also, if you set this up against a wall, it is extremely difficult to put the center shrouds on. I ended up duct taping a wrench to a pole to hold the nut in place while I torqued the bolt, but it took probably 30 minutes to do.

All in all, this is such a quality trainer for the price. I am immensely impressed. The quality is amazing for something designed in the states and manufactured in China. I can’t wait to start my workouts!

In addition to the functional improvements over Ares 1.0. There are obvious improvements on assembly too. 1. No front to back cross member in the upper rear. 2. The shroud uses real screws or bolts. Ares 1 was a pain with the tiny screws. 3. The pulleys do not need to be removed to run the cable. This is the most appreciated improvement.

@matthewkelberg487624 күн бұрын
Is it possible to build this with a 30-inch + 30-inch configuration? Compared with the 16-inch + 40-inch configuration, it would be only 3 inches longer. Seems like I would lose a little range of movement in the cables, but otherwise it would be fine. Thanks for your time!

Are the cable lengths different for the 4 post version and can you upgrade later to a 6 post with no issues?

While I'm sure I'll love my PR-5000 rack and Ares 2.0 I can't keep waiting on accessories for it unless REP actually announces it's coming. They tease things like ISO Arms 2.0, belt squat 2.0, etc but I'll look at other systems if they're available. The new Bulletproof ISO Arms drop in a couple weeks so you'd think REP would at least mention theirs now if they want to deflect some sales from Bulletproof.
