Spend more time with your kids, put them in clubs or activities that provide socialization and a sense of discipline, give them responsibilities. Being present as a parent shows a huge positive outcome in children across every metric as long as you arent a controlling/helicopter parent. Club activities like sports, scouts, band/orchestra, etc. Allow children to socialize and feel like part of a community. It also allows them to see the value in improvement and discipline. And we see in prisons, social programs, and rehab programs that providing a sense of responsibility does a lot of good for people trying to change or improve their situation. It makes people feel like they have a stake in something and therefore what they do matters. It wont stop every crime, but 65% of ALL criminals come from fatherless homes - as well as 75% of ALL juvies. Feeling neglected or powerless, having self control issues, not being able to empathize with others and lack of care for the self are consistent with drug abuse, murderers, rapists, etc.

"Government weapons issued to people." Sounds like a militia, maybe even a "well regulated" one.
@Ironborn43 жыл бұрын
It's actually service weapons. In Switzerland every able bodied male has mandatory military service. After their service is over they take home their military gear including their weapons. On top of that Switzerland has stashed military equipment and gun stashes all around the country. The country is surrounded by mountains on all sides and the entire population is armed to the teeth and trained in warfare so even if a superior force would invade Switzerland they would have to commit to a never ending guerilla mountain warfare. Lots of armies in history failed in Switzerland and it is how the country can afford to remain neutral in every major conflict. Hitler and Mussolini took 1 look at that place and went ''nope'' and rolled on to France and Serbia (Serbia was also not a walk in the park btw).
@smokedbrisket30333 жыл бұрын
when government issues the weapons, that makes it regular military by DFF. in the context of the 2nd amendment, "well regulated" simply means "properly functioning and trained." The preparatory clause of the 2A merely identifies the main reason the people have the right to keep and bear arms. Curious that this view of the 2nd amendment existed continuously from the BOR's ratification until 1934, then the federal government magically discovered it had the power to enact and enforce acts like NFA. Think about it this way. If the governors, or even the president, invoked their constitutional authority to "call forth the militia," if we aren't armed with our own weapons and other gear, what would even be the point of calling forth the militia? If the governors/president were to say "show up at X military base near your house to get your arms and equipment," now we're talking about conscription which, again, would be regular military.

Sexual side effects were worse. i had interest in sex but it was next to nonexistent most of the time. it was weird. He's not wrong it is easy to take away a rifle and also a person holding a pistol fully extended from the body. But he misses the point that unless you had the training like those of us who had been in the military or police where you are surrounded by gunfire constantly during training that when the average person hears rapid firing,that there is no fight mentality for most people involved it's either flight or freeze. Loud noises trigger us and that's not something the average person can handle. If we aren't going to do anything about gun control I believe we need to set something up for young adults to get actual weapons training. Getting people more familiar with weapons will help immensely with the mass shooting problem we have.

Can vouch as a U.K citizen that the crims around here are incredibly brazen. Didn't used to be this bad. Having a police presence is the main issue, in that if you called the police they'd be on site pretty quickly, now you might not see them for 2 weeks if you call them. Even phoned them when a drunk guy tried to break in through the front door to attack a member of the family and they only turned up when we threatened to seriously injure the attacker. We've been broken into at 3am (chased them off) but in 1 week our street had about a dozen break ins where they try to get in when people are at home. Interesting pointer though, you can own some guns in the U.K, and that can make you a target (albeit they try break in when ur not at home) as gangs want to steal hardware to use on other gangs.

For those curious, I did some brief research into this. Please correct if I’m wrong. Some of Switzerland Gun laws/rules: • All able-bodied people must serve a minimum of 245 days in the Swiss Military Service. I believe you can break that up and don’t have to knock it all out in one year. • There’s free-acquisition for semi-automatic weapons, but not fully automatic. • Open carry is not very common, and it requires a special permit that’s given sparingly. • Rifles and handguns with magazines over 10 - 20 rounds require a special license. • No gun if you have a violent criminal record and consecutive convictions. • Must be over 18 to buy a gun. • Police must have documentation on your guns • Guns can be passed down under a contract that is then shared with the police. • Background checks take two weeks, and if there must be no suspicion that one will harm themselves or others (mass buying). • A Lot of restrictions of types of ammunition. A shallow rundown, but wanted to put that info our there.

@UCg6tJObP98HVv0T-WsDuzTw Sort of. It's the 21 foot rule and generally it's holstered gun vs. charging with a knife. Even a quick draw against someone with a knife is likely to be too slow to completely prevent being stabbed. However, most trained shooters understand the value of angles and height. What the gunman can do to buy time for the draw is to drop to the ground or jump/roll out of the way. There are a few ways to counter this with different knives but generally they all require a good amount of practice. No one needs much practice to fall on their butt/back and draw a gun. Also, he is right, any long barreled firearm is fairly simple to control. The fact that you need 1 to 2 less steps to be in range of a rifle vs a handgun is a huge benefit. There are plenty of ways to do it but the easiest I know is to push the barrel in towards the gunmans stabilizing arm and come in with your elbow around the outside. Get essentially your full body on the gun and just pull away. By pushing in and coming in with the elbow, you break the grip enough to where you don't have to do much to take possession.

Look at countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Guns shouldn’t be banned, but there should be systems in place to make sure law abiding citizens can access weapons and those who are dangerous don’t. Broader gun crime and crime in general needs to be looked at completely differently. Drugs and poverty are the issues that need to be addressed. Drugs should be decriminalised, really they should all be legalised and regulated. The pharmaceutical industries in this country and poverty are the main causes of the opioid epidemic and the problems with drug overuse. You look at every other country, it’s much more difficult to access these kind of drugs. There isn’t a 1 stop fix for any of these issues, whether it’s banning guns, arming teachers or whatever. You have to look at the problems holistically and you see that there’s a broader societal and economic problem in America that corporations and corporate backed politicians just do not combat, since they benefit from the problems.

Yeah I agree. Joe even calls him out on it as just talk but really all these politicians have got nothing. They're all smoke and no substance The only thing I agree with is his framing of the argument, don't infringe rights, and is this going to do good. Or feel good?"

Crenshaw can’t be trusted he is a member of Klaus Schwab’s group the World Economic Forum and he’s a member of DAVOS those groups hate the working class. Both those groups say by 2030 you will own nothing and be happy. Meaning they will own everything while you can work as hard as you can but you will never own even a house. If you don’t know what I’m talking about take a few minutes and look into it these ppl don’t hide their evil agenda they say it proudly.

We had armed police officers at my high school. He was the local Sheriffs resource officer but he had a gun and multiple rifles in his car if needed. This back in 08 too
@haleyguthrie31132 жыл бұрын
We have school resource officers in Alabama where the school body deems it necessary...the parents are also involved and get to speak. Then local officers are armed and get the rank of SRO and placed at the school. After kids get into school, all access points to the school are locked and only opened per video/audio feed by an operator in the office. After the subject is identified and why they are there, the 1st person they see is the school resource officer. In response....we haven't had any issue in YEARS...a very long time.

The reason why the problem is close to "unsolvable," is because of how intangible the source of the problem is; you're dealing with despair, malevolent ideas, people who are depressed...Things that every single human being is capable of experiencing.

@esqueejy4 жыл бұрын
NO, it's intangible because the GOP, paid by the NRA, enacted legislation barring the federal government from studying gun violence and amassing the statistics to do so. They did this years ago and it has set us back decades on collecting the data and analyzing it so we can fashion an appropriate solution.

Personally i think this shit would die down with mandated service and full investment in space travel advancement. Hear me out. These shooters are either driven to attack by radicalization, despair, or jealousy. These all have the same source. No sense of belonging and a lack of purpose. Give these guys a mission that pushes them, that makes them value their own existence and feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves, and this shit will disappear.
