My friend, sorry you are not familiar with inmates life, and the incarceration industry. For one, if poverty was not directly connected to criminal activity , educating an inmate is way cheaper for our society, than having them in jail, in what is called in the industry, a revolving door that is often ongoing for many of these folks for lack of opportunities. And Trone's work has addressed much more than this. I met several previous inmates in the streets when I help homeless, that told me about their inability to find work, once they got out. It has been a big problem, that Trone also worked diligently to improve, and he did, successfully. This is contrast with wealthy folks that if they make it to courts, often not only buy their way out of jail, they get their record expunged much easily, than poor people, and that ain't right either.

Also I think it’s criminal that loan forgiveness makes me pay for someone else’s college when I didn’t go because I couldn’t afford it !!! The only systemic racism is affirmative action.
