Every year we host a Chinese student. One of my clocks had holes in the bellows at the back hinge. I used a one Yen Chinese bill. Similar in construction to our currency. Holding up fine. More flexible that post office envelope and far cheaper too.

Hello. Please tell me if this shape of the paper that gives the wind is paper rather than thin leather or something else, thank you
@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
The leather is only a symbol or static thing for a clock. You might want it on a very old clock that is very valuable. The Tyvek paper is a durable paper that isn't torn like paper of leather. If you buy the sheets for the bellow, the Tyvek paper is easily shaped and will hold it's shape.

@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
www.ebay.com/itm/254032102074 Just go to EBay. I do so many that I buy the larger quality, but you don't have to buy this many. Just to let you know, my first one looked like crap, so I took it off and the second one turned out great after I learned what I was doing. A razor blade and a good sharp pair of assessors will come in very handy because the Tyvek paper seems hard to cut.

Hi, I understand you do Tyvak paper for the bellows of a cuckoo clock, I don’t know what weight etc but I see from another person recommending you get two sheets. I live in the uk, can you please advise exactly what I need, or can you supply to uk.
@justmike572 жыл бұрын
Not knowing for sure, but it isn't cheap to ship to the UK, yet just an envelope shouldn't cost that much. I bought mine on E-BAY and will send you a link. One paper does the two bellows unless you mess the first one up. The link is for 20 pieces, but they sell less on the site. Just type in the name of what I send you and there should be different quantity's of the paper Tyvek. 20 Sheets - Cuckoo Clock Bellow material repair or replacement paper CLOCK PARTS

Hi. I had a question my clock was working fine. The pendulum stops after an hour or so and sometimes in the half hour the music plays like it in the hour.
@justmike572 жыл бұрын
You have to remember that a cuckoo clock is considered a dirty clock because of all the openings to the room air. That means dust, cooking oils and maybe even animal hair gets up inside the clock more often. So the book suggests that you take your movement out every 3 to 5 years and blow it out to free all the dust and derby, then oil your clock to keep the old oil from gumming up. They also say if your clock stops, then it is time to take the movement apart and clean and oil your cock. If the music has been triggered from the hour and didn't play, then I could see it playing after the cuckoo sound.
@gigglecon9992 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I just got the clock about a month ago from an estate sale from a family. What kind of oil do you use? First cuckoo clock I ever owned. It’s a Hubert Herr older type clock but looks great. It was working fine till I was out of town a couple days and I wasn’t hear to chain the weights etc. then I do as usual and set the clock then a couple hours later the pendulum stop
@justmike572 жыл бұрын
@@gigglecon999 I think you might be safe too just oil the clock and see if that works before taking it apart all the way. Remember to oil BOTH side of the movement, otherwise you will be wasting your time. Take pictures before you remove the bellows so you can get the wires back on the right lift arm.
@justmike572 жыл бұрын
You can look for a clock parts place on line for the clock oil or synthetic clock oil is suppose to be better. Or you can find clock oil on E-Bay
