Cuckoo Clock Bellows Replacement

I show how I replace the bellow on top of the whistle box. Hot glue is the fastest way and seals the bellow to the whistle box. I also tell you about the wire and eye nails that don't come with the new bellows.

Now that I am retired, I just might show my life and some of the towns around me. There are many that say you can buy the Tyrek coverall's or any thin Tyvek products. I have seen some work here using them and it does not work well and blow out of shape. I use this from E-Bay. I just got a cuckoo that has 2 abnormal bellows. one is wood the original and one plastic the replacement.....the clock was refurbished and the plastic bellows just failed after having the clock for 2 days. I'm replacing the both units with a brand new pair

Sounds like someone tried to fix the clock, but why would they have to replace the whistle box and not having matching whistle boxes. Just the same, you might as well replace both bellows. I do have a video out on just replacing the paper to the bellows with Tyvek paper if you wanted to check that out for a future note.

This clock is gone now. The bellow size doesn't really matter, as long as it fits in the box and then the wires to the bellow can be fitted so the bellow only opens a max of 3/4 the way open.

They are very easy to take off and glue back on. When you order bellows, they come as a pair. You just measure how long the bellows are.

Normally, the left side lifts the bird tail. There are a few clock out there that lift from the right, but that all depends on what side the bird is on if you also have music in your clock.

There isn't a difference in bellows from an 8 day and a 30 hour clock. The size of the box normally determines the size Whistle box.

Help with installing the wires in the new bellows was what I needed. Thanks.

So, not knowing what you have to work with or what you have done now. I take it you have new bellows on the whistle box. You have installed the wires and ring for the lift wires. Make sure the ring nail is straight up and down so if you held the whistle box up to your eye, you can see through the ring. Now what I like to try to do is take the lift wire and slip it through the ring and the to the clock arms. Normally the left bellow will hook up to the shorter arm on the clock, Depending on what brand of clock you have. Bend the lift wire back in the shape it was in when you started. Then I put the whistle box on the nail and secure the whistle box with the screw. I hope this help you, if not, send me pictures of your clock and lift wires to my email below this video.
