Here's a tip for those CSC slave cylinders, before you mount the cylinder into the bell housing put the cylinder in a vice just gently nip one of the mounting lugs, with the inlet facing directly upwards put a small funnel into it and tip some clutch/brake fluid in and squeeze the cylinder in and out you'll see air bubbles come out and the fluid go down, do this several times until it is primed, put the plug back in that comes with the CSC and then fit it in the bell housing, when your ready pull the plug and quickly fit the pipe, bleeding then takes 5 mins or so...

@ianfinch1522
@ianfinch1522 23 күн бұрын
Definitely agree I’m sure as mentioned previously the vane pumps are a real issue with these engines and is well documented people changing to a geared pumps. Nice easy upgrade with the engine out. Also they recommend with the vane pump oil should be changed within 15 minutes. I’d lay money on the original pump being the reason for the failure. Also egr issues with these engines.

A customer of mine has recently been left with a huge bill for his leased Ford Ranger, something to do with failure of the wet belt he said. Anyway, the belt snapped on the motorway and blew the engine, he said he was lucky to get to the hard shoulder without losing control of the vehicle. Ford don't want to know and the lease company are blaming him !! Crazy.

How did you prime the oil pump? These engines are notorious for not picking up oil after more than ten minutes with an empty sump. In those ten minutes that the sump is drained, the oil filter needs changing and oil refilled in the sump. Otherwise another seized engine beckons.

It is always good to check and double check when swapping an engine especially as the new one was out of an automatic. Some people say 'don't grease the spline' but I say as long as you don't put too much grease on then it does make life a bit easier with a big heavy engine like that one. I agree with Rob it is so nice to hear it fire up, so satisfying. You 'wanged it over' and 'job's a good en'. Great video Rob and Chris you two have a really good working relationship which is great to see. I will be looking forward to the final video on this one Gents. 👍👍
