I love these videos! You do a great job of going through these machines and fixing the majority of them.

You make it look so easy (it's not, totally get that) but also just so relaxing/reassuring watching you work and be so thorough... I've been following your channel for more than a year now and I'm in Australia - watch your videos almost every night after my 18 month old son has gone to bed and I get a few mins to myself to unwind - huge fan of you and your work, learned so much from you and love how you approach everything.

I've still got one of these from 2006/7 still working, it came with a 36v combi drill for free, the gearbox failed on the combi drill and the price for the gearbox was twice the price of a new drill on ebay, didn't bother replacing it as the gearbox seemed weak really, snapped 1 tooth and locked up. The company had loads of Bosch drills with points from Worcester Bosch, I don't think they stood up to abuse like a Makita.

add low melt solder to the existing pads/terminals to make it easier.

If you're not a professional like Dean or even if you are it's always good if you have a video and some still pictures focusing on places you want to remember how to put together which wire goes where you can always reference all of it later if you get stuck
@philgallagher117 сағат бұрын
Or do what Dean does - desolder one wire and replace it before moving on to the next. NEVER desolder everything at once then try to remember what goes where. That way you always know you have put the right wire on the right terminal.

Dean, use flux to melt solder and mix a new solder it's make a job a lot faster.

I always check the top switch also (two position double throw) that does the polarity reversing on dc motors for direction change. Have found a few faulty, main control switch being OK...

I graduated high school in 2007, to think that’s almost 18 years ago (the age I was when I graduated) is incredibly depressing.

Leave a short piece of wire on the ones close to the heat sink and solder the new wires to those.! Just a thought…!?👀

Great vid as always Dean, hope the storms are all past up there. I have a Dewalt dcs355 and it get RED hot in one spot on the handle. Any idea if it’s common fault that a lad could tackle himself or is it a pain to fix. It’s still working fine but afraid one of these days it won’t. Heats up so quick !

It seems that manufacturers integrate parts to make them more expensive, not better! 😡
