6:31 Jason throws a sledgehammer up to Jamie on the roof who CATCHES IT WITH HIS ROBOT HAND. This is the biggest boss move I’ve ever witnessed from you guys. 100% agree on sheathing the roof. I'm a roofer by trade and we always add sheathing to board roofs that are not tongue and groove. It's additional expense, but in the long run you avoid a lot of issues. I do a lot of leak calls and I often find nails in the gap that start leaking 10yrs down the road... Also, you guys need a real shingle shovel...

Spread out a really large tarp to drop the roof material onto. Makes cleanup so much easier/faster. Makes for a lot less nails all over the yard. Can even just throw away the tarp too if you want. The time you save easily makes up the cost of the tarp(s).

I've been watching you guys for years and the best tool a crew can have is a 5-7 ton dump trailer. It's by far the most productive tool I own and worth every penny paid for it. Enough so that I work solo and own 2 of them.

@@Beandiptheredneck I've got a little 7x12 that's great for demolition. You can back it on a garage, door down and not have the HOA or nosey neighbors into your business. My favorite thing is that it has fold down sides so it can be loaded with a forklift. On deck work I'll show up with the lumber, dump it as close to the deck as possible then tear the old top off and toss it in, massive labor saver.

My house was built in 1921 and on a half basement half crawl that extended under the front porch which was covered with tongue and groove and as best as I can tell never leaked. When I was doing some updates however, I closed it off primarily because it definitely caused issues with the floor being cold in the winter.

I'm in the middle of an almost identical renovation and I Zip sheathed over a solid board system just like that a few months ago. Had leak problems. After carefully walking the roof several times and not seeing any problems I finally concluded that the old solid board sheathing was breathing up and down with temperature changes causing some moving around of the Zip. The nail heads were pulling up and down in the Zip, so I finally liquid flashed all the nail heads and a couple of places on the tape, and it sealed up after that.

It's always a pleasure to watch the crew deconstruct, before they construct .. Speaking of watch .. Eric you must think we viewers are strapped with green backs, because a Holzkern Watch is too GD expensive for the average KZbin viewer, and unless you own a business or work for the Perkins Brothers, or the government there's not to many who can afford a time piece that cost over $200 .. Keep Doing What Your Doing .. Because What You Are Doing Is Building Stuff One Step At A Time ..

Yeah, I am assuming that they did test for lead before getting into the demo. I think it would be good content for the channel to talk about testing for the presence of lead-based paints before beginning demolition. I think a video like this that doesn't talk about the potential lead hazard can be a bit misleading to builders and homeowners who see this video and may get the impression it is safe to dive straight into demolition on an old building without consideration of potential lead hazards. I feel like many builders / contractors have still not be educated on the existence of lead on old buildings and the hazards that come with it--especially to young children.
