Install went well, after plugging in power cord & pressed reset button didn’t get the chime. Thankfully started to make ice gradually. Thank you very much for this video, I’m sure it saved us a couple hundred dollars from a appliance repair technician. 👍🏻

I know this video is from 2014, but I had to comment a BIG thank you. I was having issues due to not changing our fridge water filter regularly and the ice maker froze up with a big block of ice, preventing the ice release "fingers" from cycling. I removed the ice maker as per your instructions, rinsed all of the ice out and have it a good cleaning, let it thoroughly dry and reinstalled in reverse order and viola, everything is working as it should. All after installing a new filter, of course.

I was about to do this until I saw another video where the guy said it could just be the ends of the teeth assembly could be frozen in place. He showed himself using a hair dryer to thaw it. I thought it couldn't be that simple. It was! It works, but I don't expect it to last. I will keep this video for when it eventually fails. Thanks!

Thanks that was very helpful. Hey all! I had icycles, and my ice maker was not working. I did a bunch of research, and most sources said my ice maker needed replacement. However, it was something else that I never read, but figured out myself. The small metal pipe nub where the water runs out and falls into the tray had a small burr on the inside edge from the manufacture process. It was keeping a bit of water on the nub, and freezing. Little by little it would build up, and change how the water poured out. Eventually, the water would want to flow behind the tube. So, I filed the edges smooth, and the ice maker is working excellent with no dripping or cycles! Whoo, hoo -- free, and didn't waste $120 on a new maker! I also took all ice maker parts out for the day to de-ice, and dry.

Thanks for the video. I replaced my ice maker this morning in about 5 minutes and saved me a lot of money. Freezer temperature never got above zero. The one problem that I had was getting the cover off. I found ice build up on one side. The cover was actually frozen on the back with a small sheet of ice that eventually melted enough to allow me to pull the cover free. Hope this helps someone else with a hard to remove cover that may have the same issue.

Thanks again for this video. My new ice maker finally arrived and it's working just fine. My fridge has stainless screws so the magnetic screwdriver suggested was NA. Here's something else I'd like to share. While the old ice maker was out of the fridge, we had a power failure. When it was restored the control panel digital display showed a pair of 88 88's and none of the touch pads would respond ( Lighting, Ice Off, Ice Type, etc.) The 88 88 display is shown in the user manual but not described, However, the Water touch pad did work. I assumed it had a direct connection to the inlet valve. The fridge and freezer also continued to function, thank god. Once the new ice maker was installed and the fridge turned back on the control panel digital display returned to normal operation. Many thanks for this video. Lenny

Got an update for you. Installed the ice maker today. Following your video made it so easy to complete this project. No more water inside the refrigerator due to the faulty ice maker. Thanks for the great video. The ice maker works great with full ice cubes. Let see what happens after a few days. Hopefully that is the end of the water dripping from the ice maker. Thank you for sharing your experience via the video. It save me about $500. A company was asking that price to replace the ice maker. All it cost to me was $92. Again, thanks for sharing your video.

Thank you. We have ice, so far. Factory part arrived and we followed your instructions. Our part did not include the bottom plastic piece. We borrowed the piece from the old ice maker. Unfortunately, Samsung changed the diameter of the two attaching screws (smaller holes on the replacement.) Required a trip to hardware store to get matching diameters for the new ice maker. Samsung should be embarrassed with this mess and poor quality. It's prime for a class action suit considering how many hundreds of similar complaints I've come across the past few months. Appreciate your video and calming music.

Each time it just stops making ice and pressing the reset button for 10 seconds will get it thru 1 cycle and then it stops again. Eventually it just quits making ice. The first time was under factory warranty and the next 2 I paid $350 for service & part. This 4th time I ordered the ice maker for just under $100 delivered and replaced it myself using your video. Thanks for the video, very helpful. I also had issues getting the back panel off. I found that by pushing the side in with a screwdriver behind the plastic ice bucket hook will release the panel. There is a little plastic extrusion on the panel that sits between two plastic extrusions on the door. By pushing in with a screwdriver, this allows the extrusion on the panel to be freed. I hope this helps!!

Thanks for your comment! I have been meaning to do an update. It's been 3 months since I put the new icemaker in and it's still working great. One thing to keep in mind is that after you install the new icemaker and reset it, the first water fill may be short, and it might not fill up the ice tray completely. Don't worry though, because after that first fill, it will be back to normal. This is what happened to mine, but yours may fill completely the first time. Good luck! ~Brett

This made a seemingly complicated project a little easier. Thanks for the video. The plastic mounting bracket screws that were taken off the old ice maker were too large for the holes in the new one. This mounting bracket is not included with replacement, which is a bummer. Luckily, I had a tap set and was able to tap new threads for larger screws and that wasn't easy and time consuming. After replacing the ice maker and buttoning everything up, the "ice off" can not be reset. This may be due to high temperature in the freezer? I also held the reset button, but never heard a chime, the arm didn't move and no water is flowing into ice maker. What's going on?

I have exact same Samsung model with Ice maker that stopped working, no water fill. If I set reset button it will go though motions like it is dumping ice. However, the arm will come down and go back up. Is it suppose to remain in the down position to fill or does it just go down to check ice level and then go back up? Trying to decide if it is an inlet valve or bad ice maker.

How long after reset did your freezer start producing ice? My freezer has never made ice and the last time we started it up it never made ice we had a service tech come and he has thought the lines has frozen inside the door. I defrosted and reset the maker but hours later it shows no signs of trying to produce ice. Does it truly take 24 hrs? Thanks
@silverhairlife9 жыл бұрын
Cameron Matthews I would say at least 8 hours. You first have to make sure that the ice maker is filling up with water. After you hit reset, you should hear it start to fill within a couple of minutes. If it is not filling up then it's a fill valve issue in the back of the fridge. This is if you have the exact fridge we do.
@RATZO038 жыл бұрын
HI DIY, I have the exact frig, water is working fine, but won't make ice. I have installed a new filter, still nothing. I have run it through the reset mode and only puts out enough water to fill 5 of the 6 cube molds and only half way. Waited 24 hrs and it won't refill the try. When it resets it puts the arm all the way up again, ( not sure if this is correct or not). Your thoughts, water valve??Thank you any help is appreciated.
@silverhairlife8 жыл бұрын
True, the ice maker will only fill up half way after initial reset. But it should return to fill normally after that. So based on your information, I would go ahead and replace the ice maker itself because there is a computer board on there that could be defective. If it was the water valve, it would not even fill at all after resetting. In my experience, these ice makers are somewhat finicky and having to replace it every 2 - 3 years is still cheaper than possibly buying a new fridge for me. It's been 2 years since I replaced my ice maker and it's still working fine.

Thanks for quickly getting back to me, but let me rephrase the question: (the first step is to remove the ice maker from the door. The electrical connection for the ice maker on my refrigerator model is fixed inside the door, it does not have extra length like the ice maker itself. That is why removing the door is necessary, it is to unplug it.

I have the same problem although the model number does not match. Problem is a leaking seal around the temp sensor. I tried to seal it up using waterproof sealant and that fixed it!. No need to replace the whole unit to fix a leaky seal! Spend $5 and save $100 Model of ice maker is DA97-13415D

@@williamsloggy5144 I wish I knew where the temp sensor is. I cannot tell if something is leaking. It only moves ice with the test button. The maker didn't seem too frozen over, and I didn't see any leaking.

Thanks! Now I know that I need to pull harder to remove the panel. How did you get the icemaker disconnected before you removed the panel? Just pulled it out? Anyway, you gave me what I needed to proceed.

Gary, Glad the video helped. Once you remove the screws that attach the icemaker to the door, it just kind of hangs there. Once you loosen up the panel, there is a clip behind the panel that you undo, and then the icemaker and cord can be pulled out.

I had to remove the panel to get at that connector, but yes thanks to you I saved hundreds. New icemaker, lots of ice - we are a happy family again.

I'm sorry, I haven't had to clean the condenser coil. Hopefully you can find a video out there for that.

these ice makers must be junk I've had problems with mine also. I've had the water inlet valve replaced ,the ice maker, the inside control panel replaced, the front control panel and it's still not working . the repair guys don't know what else to do, I'm glad I got the exe. warranty this is only 3 yrs. old . Now I guess I call Samsung and see about replacing it.

I agree. I hope you have good luck when you call Samsung.

Kind of lazy not showing how to do it completely since you're party of the way don't before the video. Thumbs down dude.

I have all the proper screws removed but my panel seems super stuck. I am very afraid to pry it off. Is there any trick to pulling a certain way?
@silverhairlife7 жыл бұрын
Just keep working at the seams, and it will eventually come loose. There may be a little adhesive on the backside of the panel as well that needs to come loose. I had to apply a little force when I first removed mine.
