Is it too hard for the engineers to comprehend that batteries will need to be replaced!! It's the most inconvenient placement for the battery and they no it!! When I first popped the hood I was dumbfounded and found it hard to stop bitching about it! Out of all the dumb places....Incase engineers are seeing this comment I would be happier working out of the trunk, extra long cables versus all this effort to replace one of the most frequently replaced parts!

Dodge avenger designers: "Where should we put the battery?" Engineers: " Let's put it underneath the engine, in front of the front wheel well so when our customers need to change the battery they need to jack up the car and take the wheel off to access the battery". Very informative video. It's a dumb place to put a battery. But, there's not a whole lot of room in the engine compartment so I guess there weren't a lot of options. The owner's manual actually says all you have to do is turn the front wheels all the way to the right and you'll be able to remove and replace the battery without taking off the wheel. But after watching this video, it seems like it would be next to impossible and if you actually could, it would be much more difficult.

Thanks for sharing this, I had AAA try to do it, but the battery terminals had corroded to the point where baking soda and water didn't help. I was looking at this video to determine whether this is beyond me to try to see if I can get through the corrosion myself. I don't have any of the tools lol.

It's strong enough to jack under the door that way I always assumed I could only jack where notches are behind front wheels or in front of back wheels . Have to do battery replacement today

The oil filter is at the bottom by the front of the bumper as well head collision oil and battery acid everywhere

My Dodge avenger 2014 was parked at the store with the air conditioner on start shaking then start getting hot on the inside and stop when go to start it up it won't start but when you put a battery cable on it to start it up it'll start when we take the battery cable off it shuts off what's the problem

Sounds like you have a bad alternator or arlt least a bad connection that inhibit recharge from alternator. Because a running vehicle should operate using the alternator and not the battery.

A former master mechanic turned instructor told the class that manufacturers do stuff like this on purpose to prevent diyers from doing the work themselves selves. However think this is bad? The Chevy equinox has the battery directly under the engine ecu. Changing the battery causes trouble codes and warning lights.
