Replacing Microwave Broken Handle

I have a fairly new GE microwave/convection over the range combo. The replacement handle (plastic) costs $160.00 and it supposedly should only be replaced by a professional to check the seal after replacement. Do you think I can do it myself or is that too risky?

@@heidizornes9812 Thanks for watching!! Some microwave handles are not easy to do, I haven't changed one on the newer ge otr, so I cant say for sure either way. Sorry. Let me know how it goes if you attempt it.

My Samsung Quick Defrost (model around 2015-2019) has this small movement in handle end 1-2 mm loose from the other end so now i can safely tighten that screw. It's a small thing, but it drives me crazy. Small flat head screwdriver check, not too much force to get that plastic off check. It will work. Thanks.

The handle just broke after one year of light usage. Seem so commom problem for those samsung microwaves.... Very frustrating since it's an easy permanent fix for the company.

I'm a installer for almost six years now but I changed complete doors on all kinds of appliances but I never changed a handle on a microwave and my microwave handle broken and it's a electrolux over the range microwave so I don't know if I can do it myself or i will need a technician to do it i will be very happy to hear from you

They are never all that hard, take that seal like I do in the video(the first thing I take off) and then you should be able to get to the screws for it, just be careful, once you take that seal off usually the door can be taken right off, so watch it doesn't fall on your stove. @@Thomasappliance No, just as if it is too long for the hole in the handle or the hole isn't big enough. I even widened the hole in the handle a bit, but I am starting to strip the screws so I stopped. All else was great and I am appreciative to you for showing me how to replace this. I had tied a string to the old pieces of handle and was using that for a while.

Thanks for watching marymontes, the handle on this one broke right off and just left the little stubs that the screws screw into. The replacement of the handle would be exactly the same as shown.

Wish it were this simple on my Frigidaire microwave. Once you get the black molding off, you don’t see the screws. Seems like you have to then take off the entire metal frame in front of the handles. Ugh

Yes that's a very common thing, samsung dishwashers, and dryers are horrible also

Samsung micrwaves suck.... All there door handles break very easily.
