I agree. It's tax cuts for the rich without paying for them increasing the deficit and debt. Bankrupt the government to force the Koch agenda of dismantling the government through sabotage instead of actually voting to cut services before cutting taxes. Anti-labor. Sabotage the IRS. And use religion to control people. Privatize everything so they can create monopolies and control everything so we the people have no say in anything. We also have less power over privatized entities even though they are part of the commons they can mess with us and it blocks oversight. Education destroyed turned into a class based system for the rich so they can control who is educated and who isn't.

Their policy is so bad, Trump has to pretend to have nothing to do with the detailed, comprehensive plan, Project 25, that is absolutely a detailed blueprint for elevating the already way to powerful executive powers to a clear dictatorship, and for the destruction of democracy and the administrative state. Isn't the whole point of insurance to subsidize the cost of things for high risk people using the money from the larger pool of people? Also if my taxes need to go up for everyone to have healthcare I'm okay with that, but I'd imagine if we properly taxed corporations and slashed the military we'd have plenty of excess Edit: 12:10 exactly, Sam made the same point. These people don't even understand what insurance is
@LollipopKnight2
@LollipopKnight2 2 күн бұрын
That's not the point of insurance; the point of insurance is to spread the damage from an unlikely event that everyone in a given pool has a risk of (in this case, serious illness) between all of them, so that nobody in that pool is shattered by it. For example, suppose two friends live in Tornado Alley, and they both put money into an account that either may access only in case of tornado damage. This is a form of insurance, and has no specific intention of subsidizing the person with the higher risk, just the person who winds up experiencing the damage. Caring for high risk people specifically is one of the purposes of health care policy, and is very important, but insurance specifically is not a subsidy.

This is where I deviate from the Democrat talking point. I served six years in the Air Force. As such, I am entitled to lifetime medical care through the VA. I'm 56, I take two BP meds. Not a high acuity patient. Take the VA model and ramp it up to include every single American citizen. VA outcomes are better than private insurance by a wide metric. Any insurance is better than nothing, even if it is the government providing it. Cut the defense budget by a third and it will pay for itself.

It would have cost only about half that had I not had a private room for most of the time after I got out of the ICU. Yes Health insurance cost is added to the taxes however it’s not so bad because it’s spread to everyone. To get my teeth checked it cost about $10 or so. And some other countries everything would be covered by national health insurance. Medical bankruptcies are immoral in the so-called wealthiest nation in the world. I work on cost containment for health plans (no denying care here), and the worst offenders for health care spend and waste is providers overcharging for medications. We’ve gotten million dollar wins for our clients just by moving where the medication is administered from (outpatient hospital setting to an infusion center, for example), for sometimes 50-60% savings. Negotiating drug prices would do a lot, but also capping a percentage over cost what a provider can charge would go a long way in reducing costs. Also, never believe anyone who says that single payer would harm innovation. 85-90% of funding for drug trials comes from public funds. It’s our research.

ty, I live in a wealthy town and a man in line at pharmacy started yelling at me bc I said a man went blind bc he couldn't afford insulin and his mortgage, this wealthy jerk yelled at me that he worked in research and the man 'should be grateful he's in america'! after I said in canada it's 1/tenth the cost the greed in this nation is despicably cruel another time, a private nurse! argued online with me that we can't have socialized healthcare 'bc america is a republic!' are people so uneducated they can't comprehend socialized medicine is not communism?

Sam's grasp on the issues supported with historical details always impresses me. And, it's really a shame how terrible news organizations have become. Tim Russert would hammer people away on details of an issue. These "new" reporters don't have a clue on the history of the question they are asking. They just feel it's their job to ask random questions without any knowledge on the subject.

The reason these "journalists" don't ask these follow up questions is, (a) they are ill informed, (b) they are too busy looking at their notes deciding which question to ask next, or (c) a combination of both. It's pathetic.

It really is telling on how those outlets value their viewers.
